"It's not my fault you don't like girls!"
An insult spit at him. Almost a meaningless saying with how much he gets bullied. But it's different.
It's different, because it's his best friend. His best friend since five years old, his first friend.
It's different, because his best friend, the one who searched for him for a week, not believing he was dead, the one who stuck by his side for all the time he was in the hospital, both times, the one who said the best thing he ever did was be friends with him, said it.
It's different, because it's Mike.
And sure, Will knew Mike was changing. He knew his entire life was changing, probably should've already changed, and it did, but in the wrong way. Instead of liking a girl at twelve, he got kidnapped. Instead of having a fun Halloween, he was the town freak, 'Zombie Boy'. Instead of playing sports, he played D&D. Sure, that last one wasn't horrible, but to Mike it was. And what Mike says, is.
He doesn't know why he still loves Mike so much. He knew he was wrong. He knew Mike didn't like him back. It was obvious in his words. It was obvious in every. single. thing.
Will rode off on his bike, ignoring Mike's calls. Whatever.
。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。
He hopped off his bike, running to Castle Byers. It was his safe space since he was a little, little kid. He loved the place so much.
So why?
Why did he cry, wrapped in a blanket? Why did he look at the pictures of them, don't look at the pictures. Why did he glanced at that baseball bat his father got him, why did he then grab that, preparing to break this place down?
What drove him to destroy such a place of peace?
He knew he liked guys. He knew he didn't like girls. So why did it hurt him so bad?
I'm not having a fairy as a son, Joyce.
Aww, look! It's the queer with all his boyfriends!
Is the little gay boy crying? How sad.
It's not my fault you don't like girls!
Did Mike not understand? Did he not understand? Did he not know Will anymore? Did Will know Mike? Why didn't Mike ever want to hang out anymore? Why does he spend all his time with El? Why didn't he care anymore? Did Will do something? Was it his fault? Is he the reason Mike is disgusted of him? He must be. He doesn't know what he did but he must have done something.
That's the only explanation. Because the Mike he knows would never do this. Not ever. So, first thing tomorrow, he'll go apologize for what he did (he'll figure out what he did before then) and everything would be fine again! Mike will pay attention to him again, balance his relationship with El with his friendship with Will, making sure not to hurt Will like that again. But it isn't Mike's fault! He said it himself. It's Will's. So he'll apologize. He'll make it right, can he make it right?
