Summary
Mike and Will leave Hawkins and move to New York City for college, thinking leaving their hometown means leaving behind all the monsters with it. But their monsters are ones that can't be outrun or killed, ones that will remain stuck in their heads and hearts forever. They must face the trauma tucked away within them and learn how to begin to heal.
This fic explores Mike and Will's characters and their long-term trauma, both mentally and physically, from the events of the show. There will be scenes which contain PTSD flashbacks, extreme and sometimes unregulated trauma responses, depictions of chronic illness and pain, suicidal thoughts and ideations, and references to traumatic events, including child abuse and sexual assault (these two will not be described in detail, only referenced).
This fic is not meant to be an easy read. It is not written to make the reader uncomfortable, but it is written to explore multiple sources of trauma in-depth, which may result in discomfort anyway. If any of the above topics being described somewhat frequently will cause you too much discomfort or distress, I advise you to not read this fic.
