Work Text:

Time hoped that Wild would be the last Link to join the party. That Hylia would stop putting the fate of the world on the shoulders of children. That maybe that all this bullshit would end and he’d get to be with his new-found family. Of course, that wasn’t the case.

“Woaw… a new Link,” Wind gaped, staring up at their newest addition to The Chain.

“Um… Hi?” The kid waved awkwardly. Warriors began inspecting the Link (much to the Link’s dismay), eyes wandering over the kid’s features.

“Looks Link enough to me,” Warriors said finally.

“The Sword doesn’t lie, Wars,” Sky said, with an almost scolding tone, The Master Sword in question currently being held closely to Sky’s chest.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Legend waved away with his hand, that familiar annoyed look on his face.

“Y’know, if I’m going to be entirely honest,” Wind interrupted, “There’s something kind of weird about the new guy.”

“Huh…” Wild paused, titling his head to the side slightly. “Wait… yeah, I can kinda see it too.”

“Wild, that’s fucking rude,” Twilight scolded.

“No, but he’s right! I mean look it him!” Four pointed at the confused Link as if they couldn’t see him in the first place. “It’s like, he’s, he’s…”

“He looks more real than us,” Wind said, “like he’s a real human being.” Everyone stared at the pirate for a moment.

“Dude, what the fuck is that supposed to mean.”

“I’m hearing a lot of foul language right now,” Time commented, though it was like the oldest Link wasn’t even there.

“I swear it makes sense! Like we look like not real people  compared to this guy!” Wind argued, and Legend gave the younger a bewildered look at that.

“Are you drunk? I thought the Old Man took your drinking privileges away, Sailor,” he said, sending a not-so-secretive glance over to Time. “…You did take all his alcohol away, right?”

“Wind, are you sure you’re okay?” Sky said, worriedly. “Like, are you feeling well?”

“You better not be hiding an injury,” Hyrule glowered. “Or I’ll kill you myself.”

“What? NO!!! I’M NOT CRAZY!” Wind shrieked. “HE LOOKS DIFFERENT, LIKE A LIVE ACTION OR SOME SHIT!!”

“Y’know, that kinda sounds like a racial slur,” Four commented, and Wild nodded.

“Yeah, aren’t pirates like suuupppeerrrr racist or something?”

“I think I’ve heard stories of sea farers calling Hylians slurs,” Twlight added. “Maybe Wind is racist.”

“SAYS YOU, FARM BOY!!”

“Wind, we’re gonna get cancelled at this rate,” Legend whined. “Twi, I think it might be best if you hauled him off. I think he took one too many crazy pills this morning.”

”NO! STOP!” Wind screeched as Twilight lifted him onto his shoulders, Wind kicking all the way.

“Sorry about that,” Sky said, turning to the new Link apologetically. “Lay your hands on the sword, please.” The Link (hesitantly) obliged, fingers grazing the sword. Sky frowned.

”She’s saying your hero title is… Live Action?”

”HYLIA’S RACIST?” Four yelped.

”I HEARD THAT!” Screamed Wind.
