   Summary

   Jack Frost always wanted to go north. He never knew why, just that it called to him, the thought of the bitter cold and the beauty of the ocean and all that there was to see. But he never went, because Máría couldn't go with him, and what's the point of doing something so grand with no one to share in the beauty of it all?

   Now he's got an excuse. Jamie is sick, and the only person who can heal him is a spirit in the far north.

   Jack expects to be gone a few weeks, at most. He expects they'll meet the spirit, get Jamie healed, and return to their southern lives. He expects that he'll have to be content with a taste of the air up there, when really he wants to drink it all in like the finest wine, when really he knows that once he leaves, he'll never stop mourning the loss of it. He expects to meet no one of interest.

   But has Jack's life ever really gone as expected?
