Hope You’re Doing Better In Elysium, Man

Summary:

It took a toll on Percy, Beckendorf's death. Percy was never the same after Beckendorf died. Even with demigod dreams being terrible, even before they started to get worse because of his death. It was no surprise that the boy had nightmares about how he could've done better.

Or, Percy still feels guilty over Beckendorf's death, Kronos decide to be an ass and haunt his dreams, Percy almost floods the camp, and Zeus all but forces Percy to ascend.

Or, Zeus decides to call Nico, Annabeth, Grover, and Thalia to see their friend/cousin become a god

Or, a Percy ascends fic with trauma and guilt.

Or, Percy, Thalia and Nico ascend because Percy doesn't want to be alone

Or, me writing a one shot i have no business writing.

Or, me trying to make up for the fact that To Rediscovering Ourselves is going to be slow with chapter updates.

Notes:

This is just a little fic idea I had stuck in my head after watching a tik tok by someone i forgot-

Song in fic is Remember Me from Coco. I do not own rights to Percy Jackson or Remember Me

Note that I do not know how to write ascension fics. I'm going to preface this with saying that one domain isn't really talked about until the second series, but I needed some drama.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It hurt to know that there wasn’t a body. It also hurt to know that it was his fault that Beckendorf died. For a usually bustling camp full of demigods talking, training, screaming… It was oddly quiet. But that was to be expected when one of the most friendly and well known people had died in an explosion. Percy was quiet, Annabeth and Grover by his side, the latter having his hand on his shoulder, silently comforting, and grounding, the son of Poseidon. “Today we are gathered here to honor Charles Beckendorf, the son of Hephaestus,” said Chiron, his voice solemn.

"Beckendorf and Percy-” At the sound of his name, Percy gave a light flinch, curling himself in guilt, which caused Grover to look at him worriedly. “‘M fine.” He muttered, giving a slight sniff, looking at the floor to avoid the eyes that had started to drift towards him. “-had taken jars of Greek fire and planted them on the Princess Andromeda.”

Percy, not wanting to listen, tuned out of the recount of what he and Beckendorf were doing, only tuning back in when Annabeth gave him a slight nudge with her shoulder. He startled slightly, looking sheepish when Annabeth raised an eyebrow. “Sorry, sorry.” Percy muttered, rubbing his arm. “Now, is there anyone who would want to burn his shroud?” Chiron asked, his eyes moving around the collected group before they finally landed on Percy. “Percy?” He asked, his voice soft. The boy looked up, surprise clear in his eyes, but gave a nod anyway. He took the shroud, placing it in the fire, watching as it burned. Percy knew he wasn’t as musically inclined as the Apollo kids, but he couldn’t bear being quiet, especially not right now as he watched the fire burn Charlie’s shroud.

Everyone around Percy stared, not knowing that the son of Poseidon could sing. It was honestly shocking to hear him sing when he said that he wasn’t a good singer. “Well that was a dam lie.” Someone muttered, causing a murmured ripple of assent around the speaker. Percy had a sad smile on his face as he sang, his voice cracking in some spots. Beckendorf was one of Percy’s first friends, and it had killed him a bit when he wasn’t able to save him, though he knew that Beckendorf knew what he was getting into, and what the costs were.

Remember me, though I have to travel far

Remember me each time you hear a sad guitar

Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be

Until you're in my arms again, remember me…

After finishing, he just shoved his hands into his pockets, struggling to keep the ground from shaking with the force of his emotions in check. Percy blew out a breath, closing his eyes and taking a few more, only opening them again when he had a handle on his emotions. “I’m gonna go to my cabin.” He muttered, his voice cracking a bit again. Percy walked away, slowly taking his hand out to wipe the tears that were starting to fall. Once he got there he closed the door, leaning against it as he closed his eyes a second time, letting the tears he had been holding fall now that he was alone.

“I’m so sorry.” He sobbed out, hands reaching into his hair and fisting it. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you.” Percy slid down the door, sobbing, the water in the lake starting to churn outside his cabin. It was a worrying sight, and Nico glanced at Cabin 3 and the closed door. “You think he’s okay?” Annabeth asked, walking to stand next to him, worrying her lip. A crease had started to form between her brows, and she glanced at the water, which was churning still.

“I-I don’t know. He’s never…” Nico started to say, turning to look at the door. “It’s Percy, he’ll bounce back, right?” He looked at Annabeth, who gave a nod, but she still looked concerned about Percy. “It’s Prissy, Corpse Breath. He’ll be fine.” Clarisse said, giving a snort, though she didn’t deny she felt bad for Percy. The water kept churning, starting to get more violent with the more time that Percy’s in his cabin, and Nico cursed under his breath, not hesitating to run towards the cabin, yelling “Percy!”

Annabeth and Clarisse ran after him, the latter muttering under her breath. “Nico! Wait!” Annabeth called, giving a huff as she ran. “Damn Corpse Breath…” Clarisse muttered, following Annabeth and Nico. Nico was banging on the door, his other hand on the door knob, trying to open the door. “Percy! Open the door!” He said, his voice betraying the worry his face didn’t show.

Percy startled at the sound of his cousin’s voice, the lake starting to go back to normal. He stood up, opening the door, prompting Nico to barrel into him and making Percy stagger back. “Nico? What are you..?” He started to ask, wrapping his arms around the kid and glancing up at Clarisse and Annabeth, the latter giving a relieved sigh. “Percy! You’re alright!” She said, walking towards him and hugging him, Nico in between the two.

“Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?” Percy asked, confused. Annabeth took a step back, crossing her arms with a raised eyebrow. “The lake was churning while you were sobbing, Percy.” She said, giving a huff. He gave a small ‘oh,’ still holding Nico in a hug. “I didn’t mean… Sorry.” Percy said, finally letting go of Nico, who stood next to him the entire time. “It’s fine Prissy,” said Clarisse, giving a glare, “nobody was there in the lake, so it’s fine.” Percy nodded, giving a slight upturn of his lips.

That night Percy was laying in bed, not being able to fall asleep just yet. It was like his mind was running with every way that he could’ve saved Charlie. Percy curled into himself, wrapping his arms around his legs, his eyes staring into nothing. You could've done more, Percy.”  The voice, Charlie’s voice, said, his tone almost… patronizing, for someone who had been one of the nicest demigods in Camp Half-Blood. “You should’ve told me to run when I detonated the Greek fire traps, Percy.”

Percy shook his head, curling into himself even more, his hands drifting to his hair, fisting it again. The more he did this the more he was going to rip his hair out. “You could’ve helped me get away, Percy.” Charlie said, his voice slowly starting to get louder with each word, almost yelling. “Why didn’t you help me, Percy? Why didn’t you do anything, Percy?” Percy shook his head, not listening to Charlie’s (That wasn’t Charlie, not really) voice. The water in the lake started to churn, the naiads in the lake startling, scrambling out of the lake. "This is all your fault, Percy." Charlie said, his voice now a yell. "No it's not. That's not my fault, Charlie."

It was his fault for letting Beckendorf die with the thought that he was helping Silena, only for him to die helping.

"Yes it is, Percy. You know why? Because you didn't warn me." He said, a sneer audible in his voice.

Charlie's right. It is Percy's fault.

"It's not my fault though." Percy muttered, his control over his powers starting to spiral out of control as he listened to Charlie's (Again, that wasn't Charlie, not the Charlie Percy and the rest of Camp Half-Blood knew) voice.

"No, no it's not my fault, Charlie. It's not my fault.."

Outside the Poseidon cabin, a heavy rain cloud had appeared, and both Chiron and Dionysus, well more Chiron than Dionysus, looked worried. "This isn't one of Zeus's storms, is it?" Chiron asked, glancing at Dionysus, who gave a lazy shrug. "How would I know?" He said, raising an eyebrow as he looked at the storm. "If it's not Zeus, then who is it?" Chiron asked, both curious and worried. As they stood there, they eventually saw both Grover and Annabeth run towards the two.

"Annabella, Grayson, what do you want?" Dionysus asked, his voice bored as he looked at them. "It's Percy! The storm is Percy!" Annabeth said, her clothes soaked, as well as Grover's, who looked both terrified and panicked. "Percy? But how?" Chiron asked, looking at Annabeth. "It's a nightmare!" She said, glancing at the storm and the lake before looking in the direction of where Poseidon's cabin was. "It's about Beckendorf." Grover said, his voice shaking with worry. "From when we had the funeral."

"Then we must wake him up." Chiron said. Annabeth shook her head, glancing at the Poseidon cabin again. "We tried. We couldn't wake Percy up." She said. "And why is that, Annie?" Dionysus asked, raising an eyebrow. "He's too deep into the nightmare. Both Nico and Clarisse had tried waking him up already." Grover said, starting to shift the foot he stood on. "Nothing we've tried works so far, and both Nico and I had prayed to Poseidon in hopes that he would be able to help wake him up." Annabeth said.

Chiron and Dionysus looked at each other, the latter starting to look more worried. "Has Poseidon answered yet?" Dionysus asked, looking at Annabeth with a raised eyebrow. "No, he hasn't. Grover tried using the empathy link that him and Percy have to see if it would wake him up, but it didn't work at all." Annabeth said, shaking her head. "We need to wake him up, and fast, he's starting to flood the camp." Grover said, looking down at the ground, where water had started to slowly reach his ankles.

"Yes, we do need to wake him up now." Dionysus said, giving a sigh as he looked at the water before he gestured for Annabeth and Grover to lead them towards the Poseidon cabin, which they both started to do, panicking slightly.

Percy was still stuck in the nightmare, curled into a tight ball. He was crying, shaking his head with every word Charlie said, not hearing Annabeth knock on the door or Grover calling his name from outside the door. "This is all your fault Percy, you know that?" Charlie asked, looking at him. "This was all your fault." Percy shook his head slightly, muttering to himself as the nightmare still happened. It wasn't as if he didn't have nightmares. Percy just never got nightmares about what happened to Charlie until now.

"Percy!" Annabeth said from outside the cabin, knocking on the door, though Percy didn't react to his name being called. "Charlie it wasn't my fault… We both knew the costs of doing that." He muttered, his hands still in his hair. "Percy!" Grover tried, pounding his fist on the door, the noise not doing anything. "Son!" Poseidon tried, his voice worried as Percy didn't answer. "We have to open the door somehow!" Annabeth said, her voice filled with worry. "We know Annabeth but how do we open the door if it's locked?" Grover asked, worry in his voice.

"We could ask one of the Hermes kids, or Hermes himself?" Annabeth offered, her voice tinged with nervousness. Poseidon gave a hum, flashing away for a few minutes before coming back with Hermes in tow. "Uncle? What do you need?" The latter asked, giving a small blink. "Hello Nephew. Would you be able to unlock this door?" Poseidon asked, gesturing towards Cabin 3's door.

"Uh sure. Though I don't know why you want me to do this…." Hermes said, muttering the last part as he put his hand over the lock, reaching out with his powers and trying to unlock it, which took two minutes. "There you go, now I have to go back to work." He said, giving a sigh as he flashed away, muttering about how his workload increasing in the time he's been gone.

Poseidon nodded, gesturing for Annabeth to open the door. She automatically opened in, giving a small wince as water came rushing out. "Woah.." Grover muttered, starting to wade through the ankle deep water towards Percy, who was muttering to himself. "No Charlie, it wasn't my fault." He muttered, tossing and turning in his bed.

"Wait here, Grover." Poseidon said, starting to walk through the water with ease before kneeling down, putting his hand on Percy's head, muttering something in a language so old that both Grover and Annabeth had a hard time restraining the urge to try and cover their ears because of how harsh it sounded. After it was spoken, Percy shot up, breathing heavily.

"Easy, son, it's ok." Poseidon said, sitting on the bed next to him, pulling him into a tight embrace. Percy buried his head into his shoulder, the tears still falling down his face. Annabeth started forward but was stopped by Grover shaking his head. "Let Poseidon handle this. Percy's his son after all." He muttered, grabbing her hand and leading her away, knowing Percy would come find them after.

──── ⋆⋅𖤓⋅⋆ ────

It took Percy a while to be able to come back to himself, and when he did, he found himself walking towards the beach, sitting on the sand. He dug his toes into the sand, seeing as he didn't bother with putting his shoes on. The water had been magicked away by Poseidon, and he had left with nothing other than, "I'll be back to see you son," which didn't help ease Percy's worries that he might've done something wrong. "Percy!" Annabeth called, causing the boy being called to jump, turning to see Annabeth.

He gave her a small, tired smile, standing up and giving her a hug. "I'm fine, Annie, really. It was just a nightmare." Percy said as he pulled away, sitting back down. For reasons unknown, the beach had always comforted Percy, and he had always thought that it was because he was Poseidon's son (That wasn't the reason, but that is neither here nor there). Annabeth sat next to him, giving him a worried look. "Are you sure? It took ages for you to wake up." She said, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"I'm positive, Annabeth. It was just a nightmare." Percy said, giving her a smile. Annabeth nodded, although her eyes flicked towards something beyond him, and she scrambled to get into a kneel, causing Percy to give a confused look and turn to see who it was. "Apollo? What are you doing here?" He asked, standing up. It was weird, he looked like he was dimmer than usual. "You, Ms. Chase, Mr. Underwood, Mr. di Angelo and Ms. Grace are required on Olympus by the orders of Zeus." He said, his voice dejected slightly. Annabeth and Percy looked at each other, before giving a nod.

"Alright. We'll be there in a few minutes." Annabeth said, giving the god a nod before he flashed away. "Wonder what he wants us on Olympus for..." Percy mused, starting to walk towards his cabin. "You IM Thals and Nico, I'll get Grover." She said, giving a small hum. The son of Poseidon nodded, shoving his hands into his pockets as he walked towards his cabin, opening the door. Percy fished a drachma from his pocket, flipping into the air. "Oh Iris, show me Thalia Grace." He said, watching as the drachma disappeared, showing an image of Thalia.

"Pinecone Face!" Percy said, giving her a grin when she turned. "Kelp Head! Whatcha need?" She asked with her own grin. "Me, you, Annabeth and Grover are required to go to Olympus." He said. Thalia raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Really? What for?" She asked, causing Percy to shrug. "Who knows. Apollo didn't really say, just that we were required to go. "Alright. I'll be there in a few minutes then." Thalia said, giving a shrug. "See you then Pinecone Face." Percy said, waving his hand through the IM.

"Oh Fleecey, do me a solid and show me Nico di Angelo." He flicked another drachma into the air, watching as it disappeared and showed Nico sitting somewhere. "Nico!" Percy called, giving a half wave towards the boy when he looked up. "Percy! What do you need?"" Nico asked, looking at him curiously. "Me, you, Thals, Grover, and Annabeth are all being summoned to Olympus for some reason." Percy said, giving a shrug when Nico tilted his head in confusion. "We're all confused too, but I guess we'll meet you there?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Alright, well then I’ll be there in a few minutes. I just have to do this thing first.” Nico said, with a small glance to something to the left of Percy. “Right, well I’ll see you then Nico.” He said, waving a hand through an IM after the two exchanged short waves. He gave a sigh, walking out of his cabin with a pensive expression. He was curious as to why the five needed to go to Olympus, but he wasn't about to ignore a summons like that. "Are they coming?" Annabeth asked, Grover standing next to her with a confused expression. "Yeah. She said she'll be there in a few minutes, so we should probably get going." Percy said, giving a small hum.

The two nodded, the trio starting to walk towards Olympus. Unbeknownest to the trio, Percy was the one that was leading them towards Olympus, ducking and weaving between the crowds of people. The two had a hard time following Percy, the two out of breath by the time they got to the Empire State Building, grinning when he saw Thalia and Nico, who were talking to each other. "Pinecone Face! Nico! You're here!" He said, giving them a quick wave. "Hey Kelp Head, Annie, Grover." She said, grinning as she cuffed him on the head before shocking him. "Been waiting here for five minutes, come on." Thalia said.

Nico gave a small wave, giving a slight smile at the sight. Percy rolled his eyes, walking into the building before heading towards the desk. "We need to get to the 600th floor." Percy said, causing the guard at the front desk to look up, opening his mouth to say something before nodding, almost as if he was told to let Percy up. "Here you go kid… Hey, word of advice, don't try and stop what's going to happen, for your sake and for your friends here." He said, handing the keycard to him. "Thanks?" Percy said, confused as he took the keycard. "Wonder what he meant." Annabeth said, following him towards the elevator, Thalia, Nico and Grover behind the two.

"Same." Percy said, giving a small sigh as he slid the card into the security slot before pressing the 600 button. The elevator doors closed, and they started to ascend. "If you like piña coladas, and gettin' caught in the rain.." The music started playing, causing Percy, Nico and Thalia to give a small wince at the song. "You'd think as the God of Music he'd be able to choose what song plays…" The latter muttered to the two, causing Percy to give a hum and Nico to give a snort. "Seriously." Percy muttered back. After a while, the elevator gave a small ding, the doors opening.

"Guess we're here now." Grover muttered, following Percy and Thalia with a small nervous bleat. "It's going to be fine, G-Man." Percy said, nudging his shoulder with his. "I really wonder why Zeus wants us here." Thalia said, shoving her hands into her pockets with a huff. "Same. We haven't done anything to warrant this, so I'm really curious about what he wants." Annabeth said, looking around the place. It was a lot quieter than usual, as if their presence was a bad omen. "This is really weird…" Thalia muttered, subtly shifting closer to Annabeth and Percy, Nico doing the same, though he scooted closer to Percy.

"Yeah, it's not Olympus to be this quiet." Annabeth said, giving a small frown. As they walked towards the throne room, they could see Apollo pacing in front of the doors, looking a lot more worried than usual. "Lord Apollo?" Grover said, looking at the god in confusion. Apollo looked at them, almost brightening up before he noticed Percy, dimming again. "Hello you four. Percy, can I borrow you for a minute?" He said, looking at the son of Poseidon with an almost… sympathetic expression on his face.

"Uh sure?" Percy said, confused on why Apollo wanted to talk to him. He followed the god towards a more private area, looking strangely nervous. “So, before anything happens in there, can I ask you a question?” Apollo asked, looking at him. “Yeah of course. What is it?” Percy asked, tilting his head slightly. “Whatever happens in there, in the throne room… I know you won’t like it, but please try and hear your uncle out, alright?” Apollo asked, looking at him with a worried expression. “I will, but I make no promises though.” Percy said.

Apollo gave a strained smile, nodding. “I know, Percy, I know. Now let’s go.” He said, turning and leading him back towards Annabeth, Thalia, Grover, and Nico were standing, talking to each other. Nico was the first to notice the two coming back, and he gave a small wave, Percy returning it with his own wave while Apollo just gave a nod and led the four to the doors of the throne room, growing to his godly height with a glance towards Percy, who gave a strained smile.

With that, he opened the doors, leading them in with an unnoticeable sigh. “Hello you five.” Hestia greeted, giving a small smile towards them. Percy gave a small wave, Nico and Thalia doing the same with Grover and Annabeth giving a nod. “Well, seeing as my brother had managed to tell you that you were supposed to come here, we can now start. Father?” Artemis said, glancing at them before turning to Zeus, who gave a nod. “Welcome you five. While this is quite an… unanticipated meeting, it is needed.” He said, looking at them, or rather Percy in particular.

Percy raised his eyebrow, not knowing why Zeus was looking at him. “Yes, it is.” Dionysus drawled, his voice tinged with hidden amusement as he looked at Percy as well. “What are you looking at?” Percy snapped, getting defensive with two gods looking at him. “You, son. Haven’t you noticed what was going on with you?” Poseidon asked, raising an eyebrow towards his son. “No? Was I supposed to notice something?” Percy asked, looking at his father with confusion. “You haven’t told him yet?” Athena asked, looking at Poseidon with a raised eyebrow.

“I haven’t had the time to.” Poseidon said simply. “Tell me what? What are you hiding from me?” Percy asked, looking at Poseidon with narrowed eyes. “Well, uh, what’s happening is…” He trailed off, looking everywhere but Percy. “What he’s trying to say is that you burned through most of your mortality with the overexertion of powers during your nightmare.” Hermes piped up, causing Percy’s head to snap towards him, eyes widening slightly. “What?” He said, almost taking a step back had it not been for Annabeth’s hand on his shoulder.

“You mean I’m ascending?” He asked, his eyes snapping towards his fathers in shock, who didn’t look at him, opting to stare at something else. “Yes, you are Percy.” Hestia said, her voice soft. “I can’t- I can’t leave my mom- What about the campers?” Percy said, trying his damnedest to not cry in front of the Olympians. “Well, if Father decides to rescind my punishment, you’d be the director for Camp Half-Blood instead of me.” Dionysus drawled out, taking a sip of his Diet Coke. Remember your promise, Percy. Apollo spoke into his mind, his voice pleading as he looked at Percy.

Percy gave a small minute nod, glancing at him before looking at Zeus. “So what happens now?” He asked, his voice not betraying anything he felt, causing Zeus to raise an eyebrow. “You seem oddly ok with all this.” He noted, causing Percy to give a huff of a slightly hysterical laugh. “I’m not. You just told me I’m going to see my friends die when they grow old while I’m immortal.” He said, running a hand through his hair, not knowing what to say.

Percy. Apollo scolded, giving him a dejected look, to which he shrugged at. Can’t really blame me, ‘Pollo. Just figured out everyone’s going to die around me, and I can’t do anything about it. Percy responded mentally, giving a small shrug, to which Apollo blinked at. “If the council approves of it, then maybe we can make Thalia and Nico immortal as well?” Apollo offered, giving Percy a quick smile before turning to Zeus, who gave a thoughtful hum. “Maybe. Are either parties okay with it?” He asked, turning to the two. Nico gave a blink before nodding, Thalia doing the same.

“You’re not getting rid of us that easily Jackson.” Thalia teased, shoving him playfully to which he responded to, which then turned into the daughter and son of Zeus and Poseidon respectfully to start wrestling with each other. “Well, there’s no doubt that they’re your kids.” Hestia said fondly as she watched the two. “Oi get off Pinecone Face!” Percy said, giving a laugh. “Only if you get off me!” Thalia said, giving her own laugh. Nico rolled his eyes, giving a huff as he crossed his arms. “Oh just stop it you two.” He said with another huff.

The two disentangled themselves, grinning ear to ear as they stood up. “That was fun.” Thalia said, Percy nodding in agreement. “So uh… what happens now?” The latter asked, turning to Zeus. “Well, first thing is learning how to control your powers, which brings me to my question: Do you, Perseus Jackson, agree to willingly ascend under the condition that you will train under your father, Poseidon, to be able to gain more control of your powers?" Zeus asked, looking down at Percy from his throne. Percy hesitated a bit before being nudged by Thalia, giving a small smile.

He gave a small breath out, looking at Zeus. "I, Perseus–" Percy, his mind automatically supplied, never Perseus, not liking the fact that he had to use his full name. It had always been associated with monsters finding him and whenever he was in trouble with his mom. "– Jackson, agree to willingly ascend under the condition that I will train under my father, Poseidon, to be able to gain more control of my power." he felt something in his gut crack, and then break into pieces, causing him to double over in pain before passing out, Nico automatically going towards him.

“Is he going to be ok?” He asked, glancing at Apollo, who had come down from his throne, kneeling next to Percy before giving a nod. “He’ll be fine. His mortality had been fraying with the nightmare, and it had caused him to pass out. He’ll be fine, Di Angelo.” Apollo said, looking at the boy with a small smile. Nico gave a breath out, sitting himself down next to him, having a feeling that he’s going to pass out when he ascends. “Now, Nico, do you agree with being immortal with Percy and Thalia?” Zeus asked, looking at the son of Hades.

Nico hesitated for a split second before nodding, feeling the same thing as Percy before he passed out as well. “Well, you already know my answer, so might as well just make me immortal.” Thalia said as she walked towards her cousins, Annabeth and Grover looking at her with worry. “Very well.” Zeus said, giving a nod. Thalia gave a hiss in pain as the glass sphere that was her mortality, something she had never noticed until now, suddenly cracked before breaking into pieces, causing her to drop where she was at, about to gain both immortality and a throbbing head had Apollo not caught her.

“We will reconvene when the two wake up, both to see their domains and to see how they are feeling. But until then, Apollo, bring them to your temple to make sure they are okay.” Zeus ordered, looking at the named god, who nodded. He flashed away with Nico and Thalia first before coming back for Percy.

──── ⋆⋅𖤓⋅⋆ ────

It was a while before Percy woke up, and he found Nico and Thalia already awake, talking to each other. Nico grinned when he noticed Percy awake, and gave a small wave. “Sleeping Beauty awakes.” He teased, causing him to roll his eyes. “Haha. So very funny Nico.” Percy said sarcastically. “Anyway,” Thalia said pointedly, looking at the two. “How do you feel?” She looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “Like shit that’s been microwaved four times and then put in the freezer.” He said, giving a groan as tried to sit up only to fall back on his bed.

“Ah, should’ve warned against sitting up so soon after ascending.” Apollo said, giving a blink as he looked at Percy. “Yeah you probably should’ve.” The boy muttered, glaring at Apollo, who only gave a small chuckle. “If you’re being snarky towards me, then you’re as good as new.” Apollo said cheerily. “What part of feeling like shit constitutes as “good as new?”” Percy asked as he looked at him with a blank look. Apollo only gave a hum, walking towards him and putting a hand on his forehead, getting rid of the remaining pain before doing the same for Thalia and Nico.

“Come on, Zeus said that after you wake up we’re to find out your domains.” He said, starting to walk out the door only to realize that three newly turned gods wouldn’t know how to navigate Olympus. Percy grumbled under his breath as he got up, starting to follow Apollo, Nico and Thalia trailing behind them. “Wonder what our domains are going to be..” Nico mused, glancing at Percy and Thalia, who both gave shrugs. “Who knows.” The former said, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Yours is probably something that ‘s related to water.” Thalia said, giving a small snort.

“Fuck you Thals.” Percy said, rolling his eyes. Thalia gasped, bringing a hand to her chest. “In front of the child? How dare you!” She said, trying and failing to hold back her grin. “You know I’m older than both of you right? If anything Percy’s the child.” Nico pointed out, causing Percy to give a dull look, rolling his eyes. “If we’re going chronologically, then yeah, I’m the child.” He said, giving a huff. “We’re here.” Apollo said, intervening before Thalia or Nico could say something. “You ready?” Thalia muttered as the quartet walked in.

“Nope.” Both Nico and Percy muttered in response. “There’s our newly turned gods.” Zeus said, giving them a flicker of a smile. “Now, who’s going first?” He raised an eyebrow, looking between the three. “Percy.” Thalia and Nico said, giving shit eating grins towards him, who only gave a blink in response. “Fuck you two I hate you guys.” Percy muttered. “Go to Hestia Percy, she’ll explain.” Hermes said. Percy nodded, walking towards his aunt, giving her a smile. “How do you feel, Percy?” Hestia asked, looking at him kindly.

“I’m okay. This whole thing is weird, but I’ll be ok.” Percy said, giving a small hum. She gave a small smile, nodding. “It’s to be expected after ascending.” Hestia said, giving a small chuckle. “What am I supposed to be doing?” He asked, looking at her curiously. “All you have to do is nick your forefinger and let six drops of your blood into the fire. All domains are between me and you unless you want the council, and your friends, to know.” Hestia said, handing him a blade that looked like the ones that would be used for rituals.

Percy hesitated with grabbing the blade before letting out a breath, nicking his finger and letting the seven drops fall. In response, the fire burned brighter before a scroll appeared over it. Hestia grabbed it, unrolling it. “You are the patron of demigods and the god of poison, water as a whole, beaches, safe travels on the sea, hurricanes and earthquakes.” She said, looking at him. Poison? What? I don’t even… Percy thought confused as he looked at it. “Would you like to keep it a secret?” Hestia asked, looking at him. He nodded mutely, standing up before going to the others. Percy? Apollo asked, looking at him curiously.

Poison. I’m the god of poison. Percy thought glumly. Hey, it’s ok Little Pearl. I can help you. He offered, causing Percy to blue screen. Not because of the offer but because of the nickname. I- Little Pearl? Percy asked, looking at the ground. Oh- do you not want me to call you Little Pearl? Apollo asked, curious. No, no it’s not that, I’m just confused. Percy said, this whole thing being weird. “Percy?” Nico asked, nudging him. Percy looked up, giving a blink. “Yeah?” He said, looking at Nico curiously. “You okay Kelp Head?” Thalia asked, prompting Percy to nod, smiling.

“Thalia?” Hestia prompted, looking at the daughter of Zeus. “My turn!” She said, walking over there and sitting next to Hestia. Hers took a lot less time than his, and then Nico went towards Hestia, giving her a smile. After a few minutes, he came back, a small aura around him. “Am I trippin’ or does Death Breath have an aura around him?” Percy asked, blinking as he looked at Nico. “Yeah he does.” Thalia said, looking at Nico with her head tilted.

“Ghost King title.” Nico supplied, causing Percy to give a small “ah” and Thalia giving him a confused look. Before either Nico or Percy could explain, Zeus spoke up. “Now would any of you be willing to say what your domains are?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. “I can say mine.” Thalia said after realizing both Percy and Nico didn’t want to say theirs. “Well? What are your domains, child?” Artemis asked, raising an eyebrow. “My domains are lightning, weather control, justice and law.” Thalia said. “Looks like she’s your child all the way.” Apollo said, giving a chuckle.

“Yep, though that doesn’t explain the justice and law domains.” Athena pointed out, looking at the girl, who immediately started to glare at the goddess. Percy gave a small hum, agreeing with her but not actually questioning it. “Maybe because she’s a good leader?” He murmured, giving a small shrug, thinking back to the domains he had.

Poison, water as a whole, beaches, safe travels on the sea, hurricanes and earthquakes… He thought, zoning out as well. Some of them weren’t too much of a shock, like the water, safe travels, and hurricanes, but others were a surprise. Like poisons, beaches and earthquakes.

But, that is neither here nor there…
