Work Text:

"Guess the drug was too strong..." A voice uttered weakly, the sound barely reaching Ren's ears. Everything still felt too blurry, to surreal to be true, this had to be some kind of dream, to be sure, and yet, he somehow knew he wasn't sleeping.

"Wake him up." The same voice spoke up again, this time though, it was clearer, firmer and harsh in its tone, Ren had little time to mull it over before he felt himself doused in cold water, sending a million tiny shocks trough his system and forcing his eyes awake.

Through the still lingering haze he could only see steel walls surrounding him, a few armed men stood guard at a distance.

"You still don't get it, do you?" The right! That voice he'd heard earlier was coming from the right, that was the only vertainty to pierce the fog of his mind. He went to look and found a middle aged man in a suit, face harsh and unforgiving, whose every physical feature screamed contempt, shooting him a look somehow both unimpressed and condescending.

"Give it up!" The man roared and Ren was on the ground, cheek burning from the impact of the fist. He tried to bring a hand to his face, but as he moved he realized he was tied to the chair.

"Come on, cooperate..." The man's shoe bagan to press on his aching cheek, the leather sole digging into his skin. "Or what? Do you want another shot?" The pressure on his face grew, the show touched bone and his whole head hurt as if it were to pop.

"Ex... ir... for...." Ren tried to speak with  a sleep-slurred voice, but the shoe pinned his jaw to the floor and kept him from speaking.

"What? Finally ready to sing, little mockingbird?" The man's voice dripped with derison and contempt, but his foot lightened on his face noetheless.

"Excuse me sir... There must be someone you confused me for." Ren began. The man, bewildered, exchanged a confused look with both of his companions.

"If I could see someone who knew me or-"

"Someone in uniform?" The man laughed sharply. "Kid, WE are the guys in uniform. We don't care wether you go to church on Sundays or 'truly, usually more~'" he mockingly said that last oart in a ruogh falsetto impression of Ren's own voice. "Keep on screaming at the Angels as much as you want, we're pushing you through that door either way." The man pressed his foot harder on Ren's face.

Still resisting, Ren started up again through gritted teeth.

"Excuse me sir, there must be someone you confused me for, if I could only see someone who knew me or some one... else..." Ren winked at the men in the room. "in uniform-"

The man roughly grabbed his collar and, somehow, managed to raise Ren to an eye level with him. He looked to be red with rage.

"Listen here you little shit: You think you're clever and that you can boss us around. That. Is. Bullshit. Scream all you want, but in here there'll only be demons for you when we push you through the door-"

A red-eyed boy in a tan coat bust in through the aforementioned door behind the guards. "Oh my days, you know that you are singing the song both off-key AND off-tempo?" He admonished the men in the room with a mix of dissapointemnt and annoyance in his voice and expression. He then fixed his gaze on Ren, full of scorn. "Oh, attic trash, it's 'someone you'VE confused me for', not 'someone you confused me for', idiot..." He muttered to himself before slamming the door behind him.

Ren, the man holding him, and his buddies all exchanged awkward glances. "Boss, what the hell was that about?" One of the guards asked. "Yea boss, who the hell was that kid again?" The other joined in.

"Isn't that guy Akechi Goro?" Ren asked cluelessly.

The man shrugged with Ren still in his grasp. "I dunno man, I just work here, I don't care, I'm tired." He dropped Ren (and the chair he was tied to, don't forget) and turned around. "I think I need some alone time, as for this kid, I dunno, shove a solid steel pipe up his ass, that'll make him talk." And with that he walked out the room.
