Chapter 1: Prologue - Preparation

Chapter Text

Warich always had a clear vision of his dream wedding day. Everything needed to go according to it. One little thing going wrong could make him explode.

And Klao found this out in the worst way possible.

When the flower arrangement was not up to Wa’s expectation, Klao did everything he could to cheer up his fiance. Warich wasn’t happy with any of it. It wasn’t the first time something like that happened. When they were picking up the bakery to make their wedding cake, it turned out that the one Wa had chosen in his mind was closed for the time of their wedding.

Of course, that ended up with Klao sleeping on the couch, because somehow that was his fault.

Klao loved Warich very much, but sometimes he didn’t understand why Wa was so fixated on little things. Klao didn’t care what flowers would be at their wedding, or which bakery would make the cake. What mattered the most was the fact that he was marrying the love of his life. It didn’t matter where or when. Klao just wanted to do it.

That day they were going to choose the venue's main decorations. Klao was dreading the day only a little. Or a lot actually. It was a huge deal. It’s not that he was scared how it would go, he was scared it was going to go the same way past things did.

Warich woke up in a good mood.

That meant that either everything was going to go great or the worst possible scenario was going to happen. Wa would either like options presented to him and choose without any issues – great outcome for Klao. Or, he would have his day completely ruined by the lack of things he liked – very bad for Klao.

Klao sat next to his fiance. “Are you ready to go?”

Wa looked at him and pouted. “Don’t we have more time before we need to leave?” he asked, getting a little suspicious.

Klao had a plan. He was not going to risk it and let something upset Warich, so the day before he planned the route exactly, leaving some time in case of an accident on a road, the car suddenly breaking without any reason or anything really. He did it for Wa, but also for himself wanting to avoid the couch at all cost.

“We do, but it’s better to leave now and not rush,” he explained. “Besides, on the way we should pop into your favorite coffee shop and get you something.”

Warich raised his brow. “Klao. What did you do?”

Klao lost his smile. “Why are you assuming that I did something?”

“Because I know you? You’re like this after you mess up,” Wa reminded him.

Klao rolled his eyes. “I didn’t do anything, I swear. I just want you to have a good day today, that’s all.”

Wa’s expression softened. “Promise?”

“Promise.”

🌼

Everything was going smoothly. Warich got his coffee, they made it to the appointment at the ideal time, and didn’t have to wait for the consultant long.

The venue consultant was a nice lady, experienced in the field. That put Klao at ease.

Until the moment she pulled out the brochure for them to go through.

To say it was thick was an understatement. Klao was terrified looking at it, and Warich didn’t even open it.

“There’s a lot…” he mumbled under his nose.

“Klao.” Wa smacked his shoulder. “We need to have options.”

Klao smiled fakely. “Right… Options…”

There were too many options. Klao wanted to get out after half an hour. After a whole hour he started to get really irritated. But after two hours of Warich getting back and forth his patience just ran out. Klao didn't expect to be the unhappy one.

“Are they really that different?” he asked, when Warich was looking at two sets of decorations for a hundredth time.

With how fast Wa’s head turned towards him, Klao knew he made a huge mistake.

“Of course it is! They are two completely different styles,” huffed Warich. “It’s our big day! It’s important that the decorations match everything we’ve dreamed of.”

“We or just you?” spat out Klao, before stopping himself. Seeing as the anger creeped into Warich’s face, Klao went pure white.

“Oh, so it’s just me now?” he asked.

The consultant turned her head away, visibly uncomfortable by being a witness.

“No! It’s just I don’t care about things like that,” explained Klao, but yet again his choice of words was terrible. He should’ve remained quiet, but he didn’t, he never did.

“Of course you don’t care! Have you ever cared? This whole time I’ve been working my ass off, choosing everything to be perfect and you’re not even supporting me!”

Their argument started to draw the attention of other people around them.

“I am supporting you!” He was very offended by that statement. “I was forced to look at so many unimportant things, it's crazy!” Yet again he spoke, before he thought. Klao was too scared to even look at Wa, knowing he messed up badly. “I didn’t–”

Wa was stunned. “You were forced? He cut Klao off and stood up. “Maybe you were forced into marrying me too, huh?” Warich started heading to the door.

“Wa!” Klao ran after him. “Wa!” He grabbed his hand, before Warich could make it through the door. “That’s not it!”

“Then what is it?” asked Warich, taking his hand away. “You seem so uninterested in everything. I feel like I’m the only one trying here.”

“You’re just doing too much.” Klao really wanted to shoot himself in the head there and then. “No, you’re–”

“Enough.” Wa’s voice was cold and harsh. “You’ve said enough.” He walked out of the building.

Klao followed as always. “Wa!”

They walked past an older lady, trying to enjoy her cold drink.

“Wa! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way!”

Warich stopped and turned around. “I wish you started thinking before you say something, the way you wished you didn’t have to marry me.”

Klao’s heart stopped for a split second. “Wa,” he begged. “That’s not true.”

“It certainly feels that way.” Warich got in the car and drove off.

Because of course he did.

“Fuck!” Klao hid his face in his hand. He wished the ground would just swallow him up.

The lady, whose enjoyment was very much disturbed just sighed looking at him. “This was supposed to be a holiday.” She shook her head, displeased.
