Chapter Text
Aj strutted into the pub as if she owned the place (She basically does) and collapsed on the nearest chair. With a lazy gesture of her wrist, she seemed to summon both alcohol and Flick to her side.
“What a day, what a day, ain’t it Flick?”
Flick acknowledged her fumbling friend and did nothing more but preen herself in response. By the time he looked back up, Aj had already finished 3 bottles of whatever poison she picked out today.
It was a little concerning seeing her two legged human down three bottles in the span of a few seconds. Usually it’s about four or five, something is off with her no doubt. Flick snapped their break at Aj and somewhat gestured to the bottles now standing in a pyramid formation.
Aj pulled away from her bottled tower to level Flick with a small side eye, as if to say, “What about it?”
As Aj stood up rather haphazardly, almost knocking the bottles over, she felt a presence emerge somewhere behind her. She snuck a glance at Flick to find them staring beyond, at a figure no doubt.
She closed her eyes and felt herself shift as she took a glance through her birds eyes. Her gaze, or rather Flicks, caught the figure of one Megii, standing with her arms folded. Aj shifted back into her own eyes and felt a lazy smirk begin to tug at her lips.
Turning around with the aura of a cartoon villain she haughtily declared, “Well if it isn’t Smart One!”
It’s important to note here that Aj’s eyes were in fact still closed, and the dingus said all of that to a wall. She opened her eyes and quickly turned, only to stumble back into her table, knocking her pyramid down in the process. Flick, caught off guard, squawked and flew directly towards Megii as she let out a yelp and slight jump.
Aj was entirely too focused on her lack of a pyramid and let a tiny pout emerge. She half heartedly gestured to no one and let out a deeply exaggerated sigh.
“Aw man, I spent a whole 2 minutes stacking those…and a whole 15 seconds drinking ‘em.”
Megii, clearly not prepared to deal with whatever that was, cleared her throat and began to speak.
“Uhm, you alright Aj?”
Now painfully aware of her new audience, Aj scrambled to a decently lax posture and started to perform.
“Heyyyyy Smart One! I’m doing great thanks for asking, just putting my talent to good use.”
Megii stared at the broken glass now littering the floor, she then moved her gaze up, seeing the drunk Aj in front of her. They sighed and dragged her hand across their face. They were NOT equipped to deal with this today.
They stepped forward and placed a hand on the table, to which Flick flew towards and began to nuzzle it. They cooed at the sight before settling on Aj, to which she was also watching the sight with soft eyes.
“Aj, I’ve heard word that Drift’s missing, and I’ve also heard your name being spread around. So I’ll ask, do you know anything about this?”
After processing the words that just hit her ears, Aj went still. She tore her gaze away from Flick, and subsequently Megii, to which she walked toward the back garden.
Megii crossed the threshold and found themself in the garden, just in time to see Aj raking both hands through her hair. Aj turned back towards Megii with a tired yet wild look in her eyes.
“That’s ALL I’ve been hearing today haven’t I? Drift is gone. I had something to do with it. There’s some NOTE that I supposedly wrote.”
Aj summoned her magic and turned her hands into razor sharp talons. Megii took a tentative step back as Aj slashed her claws across the wooden fence. It was enough to do major damage, but not enough to break through completely.
“YES, I TOLD DRIFT THAT I BURIED HER. I FIND OUT SHES ROYALTY. A PRINCESS NO LESS.”
Aj crept closer towards the other person, although Megii did not move. They stayed rooted in their spot, determined to find out what really happened. They looked directly into Aj’s eyes, she felt them widen at Aj’s next words.
Laced with a feeling she couldn’t be bothered to decipher, Aj spat out,
“And you know what? I told her to RUN.”
