    Chad looked at him like he was something worth looking at. His eyes tracked down Robert's chest, the lean muscle, the scar on his ribs he'd never explained to anyone along with the other marks scattered across his skin, and when he looked back up his pupils were blown wide, dark and hungry.

    "You're beautiful," Chad said, and Robert's instinct was to deflect, to joke, to say something cutting, but the look on Chad's face stopped him. He meant it. He actually meant it.
