Work Text:
The glow of the early morning sun peaks through the see through curtains of the newlyweds bedroom window. The consistent sound of Orpheus’ snores awoken a very groggy Eurydice. She lifts herself up and rubs her face gently with her hands, trying to wake herself up more, but also to try and convince herself all of this was real. She’s home. She has a home, and she’s a wife. She has a home and she’s the wife to the greatest man she’s ever, and will ever meet who won't quit the snoring!
One particularly jarring snore wakes her up fully from her thoughts and she places a hand on her husband’s cheek, stroking it gently with her thumb. Her thumb glides one of many bandaid’s he has on his face and body from their journey back up. Not long after his eyelashes starts to flutter and squinted brown eyes meet her own.
“mm. Finally you’re awake, I don’t know how much longer I could take the snoring.” Eurydice whispers running her hand down from his face to his own hand and bringing up to her lips to kiss it.
Orpheus lets out a reactive chuckle and scooches himself closer to her while sitting up himself.
“you’re so mean to me.” He says whining softly before leaning in to place a soft quick kiss on her forehead.
“But there’s so many things I can make fun of you for.” She says elongating the final word in an feigned annoyed tone.
At that he places both hands on his cheek (his hands always being warm as compared to Eurydice’s consistently being cold) and places another kiss on her forehead and one on her nose.
“Well lover, you have all the time in the world to make fun of me for everything, I’m yours to bully.” He reassures, making sure their eyes are locked.
“Now I sound mean!!!”
“You are mean!!”

Eurydice stands over the stove, fidgeting with the pan that their breakfast of Banana pancakes were sizzling on. The familiar creek of their bathroom door indicates Orpheus is coming back into the kitchen. He stops about a foot away from her and leans on the fridge, admiring his wife and all of her mannerisms.
The way that she flips pancakes with such immense precision that her entire body goes frigid to make sure it lands correctly, the little tune she always hums when she makes food, the ponytail she puts her hair into when she cooks that’s always slightly crooked.
“Take a picture it’ll last longer. Come, try this tell me if it’s good.” She says not looking up from the pan while she says it, not needing to see him to sense his presence.
He walks a couple steps towards her and opens his mouth. A fork with a triangle of pancake reaches his mouth and he slides it off.
“Mm- this is really good!” He says swallowing with a huge smile
“It’s my mothers recipe. She only made it for me one time when I was really really little, but she wrote the recipe down for me and I’ve kinda just kept it ever since. I’ve obviously changed the recipe a little eensy bit since she gave it to me, like I added an extra half tablespoon of cinnamon and..” She exclaims excitedly playing the food and drizzling syrup in the shape of a heart for him (this is so domestic, she’s honestly shocking herself.) When she finally looks back up at him he’s looking straight at her, his hand perched on his chin. “Sorry. For the rambling-“
“No, never sorry. I love hearing about your childhood. You’re the most interesting person in the world to me. Maybe even just in the world.” Her Husband replies snaking his arms around her waist and placing his forehead akin to hers.
“I love you. I love you so much. Like so fucking much.” She whispers while letting out a soft chuckle.
“I love you more.”
“Okay eat now.” She says pulling back and shoving the plate into his hands.

In the early afternoon, the couple is sprawled out on their mildly uncomfortable couch, Eurydice leaning on a pillow on the armrest, Orpheus’ head resting in between her legs scribbling down some notes and lyrics for an upcoming song he’s begun writing. His songbird is reading, it's his favorite thing to watch her do. He enjoys the way her face expresses and reacts to what’s happening in the book. Her eyes get a gorgeous glint in them when she gets to a good part, her eyebrows furrow when a character she dislikes comes up, and he especially likes being here with her when she’s reading because usually a soft hand reaches his hair and starts to scratch his head, like now.
Orpheus stands up abruptly, starling Eurydice profusely as she looks up at him preparing to leave the room. Like clockwork her hand reaches to his wrist.
“Hey where are you going?” Her glossy dark brown doe eyes look up at him, brows furrowed in concern and her lips in a soft pout. He wants to beat himself up for ever making her look like that.
“I’m just going to the room for a second sweet girl. I’ll be back in one second I promise.” He gently moves her hand from his wrist and kisses up from her hand to her forearm.
When he returns she’s in the same position she was in when he left, eagerly but anxiously simultaneously.
“What’s that in your hand? Eurydice asks him raising a singular eyebrow and trying to get a good gauge on the huge box in his hand.
“Well.” He says sitting down next to her. “I know you told me not to get you anything for our wedding..”
“Orpheus.”
“Butt..”
“Orpheus!” She whines tilting her head to the side.
“I just- I saw it in a store two months ago, and I knew I had to get it for you. It’s purple too, and I know you like purple.” He reaches down into the box and pulls out a purple sewing machine.
“You didn’t! How did you even know I liked to sew?”
“I heard you talking to Lady Persephone about how you sewed your coat back together when you broke it and how you wished you could sew more stuff, so I thought perfect gift.” They both sit there in silence for a second. “I’m sorry- if you don’t like it I can-“
He’s immediately shut up by the force of his wife throwing herself onto him, laying him down onto the couch and peppering what feels like hundreds of kisses all over his face, and one really long passionate one on his lips.
“It’s perfect- you’re perfect I just, I fucking love you.”
She lays her head in the crook of his neck for a little, his arms slowly moving towards her back, crossing them over it.
She sits up quickly her face scrunched up in anger, which Orpheus just ended up finding really cute. “Screw you, getting me gifts and one upping me as a partner.”
“Don’t say that, you don’t have to do anything for me to be a good partner.”
“Mhm. Whatever.” Her head goes right back into his neck.

After dinner, the couple ends their night together on the floor of their living room painting each other nails with (who could’ve guessed?) my little pony playing in the background for ambiance.
Eurydice has a firm grip on her poets arm, since he’s known to be fidgety. “Stop moving your arm baby, I keep letting the polish on your fingers!” She says firmly but gently putting a little extra grip onto his arm to get the nail polish precisely where it needs to be, seeing as they’re almost out of acetone to remove any excess.
“Yes ma’am im sorry.” He says smirking at her concentrated face. “You’re so pretty.” He mumbles.
She giggles and looks up from his hand to look him in his eyes.
“You’re pretty too poet.” Eurydice responds, blowing him a kiss with the arm she’s holding the nail polish with.
“I’m so so in love with you. I can’t believe were married now. I’m yours, and you’re mine.” He says with a sense of realization in his voice.
“Mhm.” She says going back to painting. “I’ve always been yours though.” She says not really realizing she said that out loud.
“And I’ve always been yours. But you know that, I asked you to marry me the day we met so..”
She finished the hand she’s doing and crawls over to sit in his lap.
“Best decision of my life.” He whispers, wrapping his arms around her to hold her tightly.
“Don’t ruin the polish I just did it!!”
“Ah sorry!”
