Chapter Text
AT CINDERCREST HIGH
Wemmbu walked to school, his soft, long, and purple hair tied into a clean bun, or at least he attempted to. Some hairs were loose and weren't long enough to go into the bun so he just let it be.
His purple hoodie that has his logo on the back, and his bag, which barely had anything inside except his pen, money, and notebooks that he wouldn't even use. He wasn't that type of person to take down notes anyways.
He walked up to Eggchan, his best friend, who was leaning against the lockers, scrolling on his phone.
"Yo egg," Wemmbu greeted, trying to get a sneak peek of what he was doing on his phone, it was probably some boring news again about the school that somehow Egg was always reading, so he decided to give up anyways.
"Did you hear about the transfer student?" Egg asked, still scrolling on his phone, his white hair, which was slowly fading into blue in the middle, was gently blown by air as the entrance opened.
Wemmbu was about to speak up until he heard the commotion, some people were already bumping into him, including Parrot, his other friend, that was the smartest person in the whole school beside Saparata, he was part of the student council.
Anyways, he paid attention back to the person who just entered the doors. They had a blindfold covering their eyes, how weird. He wore a black hoodie with a fire symbol and had long dreads tied into a half-assed attempt of a ponytail.
Wemmbu eyed him silently, before turning back to egg, who wasn't there anymore, he probably went to class. He thought to himself as his thoughts got cut off by the loud ring of the bell signalling it was time for class.
Wemmbu went to his classroom: A103, all of the other students sat down, he walked to his chair, the one beside the window, with a spare seat beside him.
No one really wanted to sit beside him because, well, he wasn't really known for being social with people he doesn't know. His only friends are the only ones who approached him first and Egg's friends.
He only wishes Egg was his classmate. He rested his chin onto his palm as he stared outside the window, thinking of what to eat during lunch, or what to play during--
He got cut off by the teacher walking to the front, announcing that the new transfer student will be sharing this classroom with them.
With wemmbu.
Flamefrags entered the class, with his bag slung over his shoulder loosely, he introduced himself with a few words, something about dogs and immortal. Whatever.
Wemmbu didn't pay attention but the universe wasn't really on his side because the teacher told Flamefrags to specifically sit beside him. What an awful day it's going to be.
He sat beside Wemmbu, his smirk growing slightly as he eyes the purple-haired guy beside him underneath his blindfold. "So, Wemmbu? I've heard about you, from your friend Parrot. He said you're ‘noisy’ and ‘chaotic’, but I don't really see the energy."
God, he was pissing him off already. Wemmbu rolled his eyes and replies quietly, but loud for Flame to hear. "That's none of your business, Lamefrags. Or what ever. Flame? I don't really care bro."
Flame just laughed quietly, before replying, "dalright bro."
Class continued...
It was soo boring, Wemmbu thought. He silently scribbled on his notebook and pretended to take down notes, usually Egg was his cheat code because he had all the notes, but they got separated for being too noisy, whatever the counselors said.
He only remembered the teacher saying something about Cards, something about computer parts, he just wouldn't want to pay attention to. It was basically basic knowledge.
Flame didn't really pay attention either, he was playing with the strings of his jacket, tying them in a loop, tightening them, and whatever else it is to do to pass the time.
Eventually, the bell rang and the teacher left, making way for the next subject. Great, another hour of doom and despair. Wemmbu thought to himself as he whined.
Flame stopped playing with his hoodie strings as he observed wemmbu quietly. "Wanna exchange insta?" He asked, not even thinking how weird that sounded in the middle of silence.
The purple-haired guy raised an eyebrow, he thought for a few moments before nodding quietly. "Bet, but that's kinda weird though," he said before taking his phone out and giving him his Instagram username.
WemmbuMC started following you.
Flamefrags_ started following you.
"You play any games, dude?" Flame asked, eyeing Wemmbu's username on his phone, MC which stands for Minecraft. He just assumed he played games because of that.
"Nah, rarely." Wemmbu lied, just because he doesn't trust Flame yet, especially that question was out of the blue, he was probably overthinking, but better safe than sorry.
He nodded and paid attention to the other teacher, well at least tried to. It was really boring, especially with a seatmate that wasn't talkative.
The teacher assigned them with paired seat work, whoever is sitting next to them will be their partner.
Great, Wemmbu thought. He couldn't stand this guy, his annoying smirk, his jacket, how he could smell his strong perfume from his chair. He just sighed and hope this day would end soon.
They both did the seat work, where they had to solve some super easy math equation even a kindergartner can solve, probably. They went back to being awkward after passing the paper so it was no use.
A few more boring hours passed before the bell rang, finally. Lunch time, Wemmbu said to himself, he looked around making sure no one heard him. He could finally talk to Egg.
He grabbed his stuff, fleeing from the classroom, not even saying a word to Flame, he just wanted to talk to Egg all about what happened in the past few hours.
Egg sat by the circular table beside the giant windows in the cafeteria, it was filled with students, each one having their own friend group, well except Flame.
Wemmbu sat beside his blue-eyed friend. The others also sitting at the table, Parrot and Theo were talking assignments and projects, of course. They were star section after all. Spoke and Mapicc talking about trying out for the soccer or basketball team, and the rest just eating there.
Well, that is, when Minute, who was practically the father of the friend group, noticed that Flame was eating alone, but he was on his phone the whole time. Minute couldn't help but stand up and invite him to their table.
Wemmbu was talking to Egg in the mean time, not noticing that Flame was literally sitting across the table from him. Egg whispering that Flame was there, was when he finally noticed.
He rolled his eyes, and gossiped about what happened during class the WHOLE lunch break while Egg just scrolled on his phone, nodding from time to time, pretending he was listening.
"To be honest, bro.. It isn't that big of a deal, you're making a big fuss about this. You sure you don't wanna be friends with him?" Egg asked, his eyebrow raised slightly. Wemmbu seats his back playfully, laughing. Egg just giggled.
Flame watched them both laugh, before going back to talking to Minute, which was a very awkward conversation about classes, because he didn't pay attention to anyone at all.
Class continues afterwards, until the clock hit 6:00 PM, the speakers spread across the school informing all students that they should be at their dorm.
Well, Wemmbu wasn't in luck, because he was separated from Egg again! The school randomized the order of shared dorms, Jumper was with Spoke, Minute was with Hannah, Leo was with Mapicc, Egg was with Wifies, and Wemmbu was with... Flamefrags.
The fact he was wary about Flame was already bad enough, but having him as his roommate is just even worse. He just hopes that he won't be a nuisance when he's trying to sleep.
It's hard trying to be optimistic when your roommate is probably the worst person in existence. Wemmbu was chilling, in his shorts and hoodie, scrolling on his phone. A notification popped up.
Flamefrags
hi bro
Nice day right
seen
Wemmbu can't get any more disturbed by this, he was just trying to scroll on his phone and watch some bullshit, instead his roommate was texting him whilst he was literally just across the room from him.
He ignored the message and turned on Do not disturb mode, he closed his phone and attempted to fall asleep, he really did. Flame was just somehow making him irritated, he was watching tiktok on maximum volume for Gambit's sake!
He eventually snapped and told the blindfolded guy across the room from him, "Shut up, bro. Turn it down, you're genuinely sooo annoyingggggg." He whined, trying to cover his ears with his pillows.
Wemmbu did at last fall asleep, Flame did too. It was about 1 AM though. Their breaths even and steady, like a steady heart beat, the room was filled with the sound of the AC buzzing.
Wemmbu woke up first, rubbing his eyes against his fists as he checked the time: 4:00 AM. He only had 3 hours of sleep, and we all know who to blame for that. He did eventually get up to get ready though.
Every dorm had a bathroom, only enough for one person, so yeah, Wemmbu really did have to get ready before 5, he didn't want Flame blaming him for being late, especially on the 2nd day of his school.
He stretched slightly, standing up beside the soft mattress with messy sheets. He sighed and folded them carefully, afterwards he looked at the man across him, Flamefrags.
His blindfold was off, he thought to himself, he found it ambiguous that he always wore them, now he started to imagine if Flame cried when his eyes hit the sunlight, he could probably wipe his tears away—
He snapped out of it and prepared for school in the bathroom, locking it with a soft click. He took atleast 30 minutes in the bathroom, before finally heading out with a proper uniform for once, but he was too lazy to button in all the way up.
Wemmbu tied his hair up into a normal ponytail this time, the bun wasn't really his thing. He grabbed his hoodie and shoved it onto his bag then proceeded to sit on the edge of his bed, since it was still early after all.
Flame woke up not too long after, he groaned slightly as he opened his eyes, his sunset colored eyes. Wemmbu hadn't paid attention, but the fact his eyes glow softly against the dark was not easy to ignore.
Flame looked at Wemmbu, outside still dark, the fact his uniform wasn't buttoned at the collar part, damn. Is all he can think about, but he quickly turned around and put his blindfold on.
Wemmbu shifted slightly, he found it peculiar that Flame turned away so quickly, was he flustered for staring at him? He scrolled on his phone and fiddled on collar.
Flame stared at him underneath his blindfold, before finally standing up to prepare for school, he got his uniform as well, finally.
It was about 5:33 AM when they both finally are fully prepared, mostly. They didn't want to go to class, so Wemmbu thought about skipping with Egg, but egg was too smart for that.
"Flame, wanna skip later? We could drink outside," he spoke up, waiting for a response nervously. He still didn't know if Flame was the type of person to skip classes or not.
"I'm down." Flame responded casually, before grabbing his backpack and leaving the dorm room to eat at the cafeteria.
The purple haired guy sighed and follow not too far away, he got a latte and a breakfast sandwhich from the breakfast lady, who has somehow been there since he was middle school. Geez, is their pay even high? He thought.
Class started just 25 minutes after breakfast started, Wemmbu and Flame went to class for like a few minutes before they told the teacher they had to go to the bathroom.
"Both of you?" The teacher asked, her eyes staring onto both of their souls. Wemmbu could feel his classmates' eyes on them. "Yeah, I really have to go." He said.
The teacher eventually agreed and they both fled through the door, then out of the school gates. No guards were guarding them anyways. "Finally," The blindfolded guy sighed.
Wemmbu led him over to the nearby cafe that sold coffees. They found a seat and ordered something to drink. "So, interesting day, huh?" Flame tried to start a convo, his eyes eventually drifting down to the unbuttoned part of Wemmbu's uniform.
"My face is up here, Flame." Wemmbu stated, feeling kind of uncomfortable, he buttoned his shirt and cleared his throat softly. "Sorry, dude. It's distracting as fuck." He said, ignoring the fact he made Wemmbu uncomfortable.
"Mhm." The purple haired man responded quietly, the awkward silence stretched for a few minutes before their orders arrived.
