The Weight of Legends
A thousand years ago, back in the Heian Era, the world of jujutsu was not ruled by three great families, but by two absolute pillars that upheld the politics and survival of Japan: the Sugawara Clan and the Fujiwara Clan. The rest of the country’s sorcerers were mere ants compared to them.
However, outside the sacred barriers of the capital, an unprecedented calamity was devouring entire provinces. It was not a plague, nor a rebel army. It was a single man. Four arms, two faces, and an insatiable thirst for destruction. Ryomen Sukuna had become an existential threat; a god of carnage advancing relentlessly, leaving behind altars of dismembered bodies.
To stop the end of the world, the leaders of both clans called an emergency meeting on the neutral grounds of the imperial palace. But among the elders in luxurious robes and political speeches, the true hope of humanity was found in the courtyard, hidden under childhood names that history would erase after their rise.
The heir of the Sugawara, a child with hair as white as snow and as soft as silk sat in a rock in the courtyard, a small pond surrounded by rocks nearby him with a weeping tree sitting on the middle. He was not yet known as the great Sugawara no Michizane; at that time, he was just an unbearably brilliant infant whose eyes shone with the supernatural gleam of the Six Eyes. Despite the reports of massacres echoing inside the hall, the child yawned, swinging his legs with total indifference. His Infinity made him untouchable, and his ego grew at the same pace as his power.
“Hey,” said a dry voice from the shadows of the garden.
The child with the Six Eyes turned his head. Standing among the bamboo was the young heir of the Fujiwara. Unlike the other members of his family, this boy did not wear ostentatious silks, but a simple training kimono. He had no personal name that the servants could pronounce; he was only “the heir,” a child born with a Heavenly Restriction so severe that he possessed not a single drop of cursed energy. To the analytical eyes of the Sugawara, the Fujiwara boy was an absolute void in space, an invisible stain in his atomic perception. Yet, they didn't care about that. His fisical prowesses were so overwhelmingly advanced he could take on 1,000 armed men with bare hands alone.
“What do you want, stupid monkey?” replied the white-haired boy with a sly, arrogant smile. “Did you come to see how real sorcerers save your precious clan from that Sukuna guy?”
The young Fujiwara was unfazed. He stepped forward, and the stone floor seemed to subtly creak under the weight of a physical force that defied human logic. His eyes fixed on the Six Eyes prodigy showed no fear, only icy discipline.
“Enjoy your arrogance while you can,” replied the Fujiwara, crossing his arms. “The elders inside are trembling with fear. If that four-armed monster breaks through the defenses, your eyes won’t help you if you don’t know how to take a hit.”
The Sugawara child laughed, jumping off the porch to stand at his level, arrogantly activating his invisible barrier between them.
“A hit? Nobody can touch me, idiot. I’ll be the strongest of this era.”
“We’ll see about that,” said the Fujiwara, glancing away toward the black clouds beginning to form on the horizon, in the direction of Sukuna’s territory. “Because if you fail, I’ll have to take care of him myself.”
The Sugawara child spited on the grass and looked back at were he was looking. Despite the derogatory term he threw at the Fujiwara, he was quite intrigued about him and his lack of cursed energy
“A person... with absolutely zero energy? Just merely observing him is strange. My six eyes allow me to see cursed energy to an atomic level so... looking at him... is like looking at a dark spot in a completely dark room.”
After the elder's meeting, and after extreme consideration and deliberation between the Sugawara and Fujiwara families, the parents of both lineages have come together and made a binding vow. Setting aside years of rivalry, misunderstandings, and deeply-rooted conflicts, they have resolved to put the future above the past. United by a common purpose, they have pledged to do anything and everything necessary to teach those two children—who both possess immense, almost unparalleled potential—together, imparting to them all the knowledge, skills, and secrets they have accumulated about Jujutsu over generations. With this shared determination, the families have agreed that, in time, these two will become the ones destined to strike down the dreaded curse user known as Ryōmen Sukuna, ending his reign of terror once and for all.
From that day forward, the two children will train side by side. Through countless hours of rigorous practice, they will learn to compensate for each other's weaknesses, turning flaws into strengths. Each will help the other rise above their limitations, forging a partnership where their individual talents are not only preserved but amplified. Together, they will push each other to new heights, sharpening their techniques, deepening their understanding of cursed energy and martial arts and forging an unbreakable bond through shared hardship and mutual respect.
In every challenge they face, whether in the secluded training grounds of their families or on the battlefield against malevolent curses, they will stand together. The wisdom of the elders, the strength of their ancestors, and the hope of their families will be channeled into their hands. They will become more than just heirs to their respective lineages—they will become symbols of unity and strength in a world fraught with danger.
They'll be...
The strongest.
