Privileges

Summary:

Ryoma thinks dating the buchou should give him some privileges but Kunimitsu won’t allow that.

Work Text:

Kunimitsu glanced up at the clock as practice time approached.

As expected, his youngest regular was late. More specifically, his youngest regular and boyfriend was late.

Kunimitsu sighed quietly and adjusted his glasses. Being Echizen’s boyfriend did not exempt him from his responsibilities as buchou. If anything, Kunimitsu suspected the others would be watching closely to see whether he treated Echizen differently now that they were together.

He had no intention of giving them the satisfaction.

Ten minutes later, the familiar sound of footsteps approached the courts.

Echizen walked through the gate, tennis bag slung over his shoulder and a half-finished bottle of Ponta in hand, looking entirely unbothered by the fact that practice had already started.

Kunimitsu looked at the clock once more before turning his attention to him.” Echizen.”

Echizen stopped.

“Twenty laps.”

Echizen stared at him for a moment before taking another sip of his drink. “I’m dating the buchou. I should get some privileges.”

“No.”

Echizen frowned. “I haven't even said what I wanted.”

It is still a no.”

Echizen's expression flattened into a pout.

Kunimitsu maintained his composure.

It was, unfortunately, a very cute pout. He ignored that thought immediately.

Dating Echizen did not mean he could excuse tardiness or allow him to do whatever he wanted. Kunimitsu was still his buchou, and Echizen was still a regular who was expected to arrive on time.

“Twenty laps,” he repeated.

Echizen gave him one last unimpressed look before turning toward the track.“Fine.”

Kunimitsu watched him go for a moment before returning his attention to the rest of the team. Practice continued without further interruption.

By the time Echizen returned, his expression had lost some of its earlier annoyance. He dropped his towel over his shoulders and walked toward Kunimitsu, stopping directly in front of him.

“I wanted to skip running.”

“No. Unless you come on time.”

Echizen frowned. “Fine.”

Kunimitsu expected him to leave.

Instead, Echizen crossed his arms. “Then I want a kiss.”

Kunimitsu paused. That was not what he had expected.

“That isn't a privilege.”

Echizen tilted his head. “Why not?”

“Because you don't have to earn it.”

For once, Echizen had no immediate response. He simply stared at him.

Then his expression softened. “So I can just ask?”

“Yes.”

Kunimitsu reached out, gently taking hold of the front of Echizen's shirt and pulling him a little closer. He leaned down and pressed a brief kiss to his lips.

When he pulled back, Echizen was still looking at him.

“…That's it?”

Kunimitsu raised an eyebrow. “You asked for a kiss.”

Echizen considered this. “Maybe I should've asked for two.”

“You should have considered that before asking.”

Echizen's mouth twitched into a small smile. “Next time, then.”

Kunimitsu adjusted his glasses. “Next time, arrive on time.”

Echizen groaned. “There's the Buchou again.”

“You're still running tomorrow.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Echizen turned away, but Kunimitsu caught the small smile he was trying to hide.

He allowed himself one in return.

Perhaps dating Echizen did come with certain privileges after all. Just not the ones Echizen had initially been thinking of.
