Work Text:

Mika took his Nintendo out of a charging dock, and excitedly flopped together with it on the couch. Shu wasn't fond of him bringing his console to France, when they were supposed to spend time with just the two of them, not inviting any electronics into it, but Mika begged him just this once, since he was excited about the "new game coming out". His Oshi-san probably wouldn't understand the hype anyways, so he didn't really bother about getting into details, except for some "I can make us married in game!", which made the other too confused to even try continuing. They weren't even dating, so he just idiotically blurted it out.

He made a comfy fort out of his favorite plushies and Shu nuis, and snuggled right into it, as he lied on his back, booting up the game. It was his first time playing, except for checking out the tutorial earlier. He wasn't a big "gamer" or anything like that, but if the game meant he could get married to his Oshi-san, then he felt more than eager to play it.

A big "Tomodachi Life" appeared on his screen, as he proceeded to make a character which looked at least somewhat close to his Oshi-san. Well, it's not like some pixels on screen could truly replicate how gorgeous and breathtaking he really looked like, but it can't be too bad either. His Oshi-san, the beautiful one, is his, and the in-game one could be married to in-game Mika, where they're both slightly less gorgeous.

Most likely longer than 20 minutes later, as Mika was very picky with every single detail, hair color and hairstyle, he finished his Oshi-san prototype. It was… a bit wonky, for sure. He couldn't stop quietly whining to himself about how the drawn-on features were practically floating away from Shu's face, taking away from the immersion. But Mika did what he could, so he just left it be.

He wanted to make his friends, too. Naru-chan especially. She was really curious about the game as well, and Mika promised to send her pictures and updates, since she couldn't play it herself due to Knights's busy schedule. He went back into character creator, and as he did, he could hear the door to the living room slowly open.

"Ah, Oshi-san, welcome back~" Mika lowered down the Nintendo to take a peek at Shu. Yes, this one was definitely more gorgeous than the one he created.

"Why are you staring so intensely? And don't sit in this position, fool, unless you want to have scoliosis." He scolded with a frown on his face.

"Yer gonna get wrinkles if ya keep making this face!" Mika corrected his position to be still somewhat comfortable, but it wouldn't be concerning. He turned his face back to his Nintendo, as the character on screen made a sound, as if it was needy for his attention. Right, he was in the middle of making Naru-chan. It piqued Shu's curiosity, even if just a little bit. The man approached, before sighing as he saw a silhouette somewhat similar to the blonde lady.

"Ugh, she doesn't look similar to the real one at all." It's not like Shu was on great terms with Arashi, not at all, but if he saw anything that counts as horrid art, then he would put his own feelings aside, and try to fix it.

"Do ya wanna try makin' her? I can't change her clothes yet, though… She won't look perfect for now." Mika fiddled around with the buttons, and as Shu looked at the weird finger combinations he was making, he most likely decided this was too much for him. Shu Itsuki? Playing console games for children? No way in hell. But it didn't hurt to ask, anyways.

"Non, Kagehira. I won't be indulging in this, I will proceed to continue reading my book that you disturbed me in the middle of yesterday. Don't kick me on accident, or I will throw you off this couch."

"Eh?! I won't kick ya! No worries!" Shu scooted over next to where Mika's legs were resting, as he pulled out his book. Mika lowered the volume of his console, so it wouldn't be bothering the other man too much, but his own noises certainly increased in volume if anything.

After a long string of "Nnh"'s and "Nngaah"'s, Shu's patience started running out.

"What is it, Kagehira?!"

"I don't know which hairstyle suits Naru-chan the most! An' it looks funky when drawn on…"

Shu sighed, reaching his hands out for the console. "Let me see." Mika's eyes beamed with joy, as he sat up with the console in his hands, showing Shu the different options. He wasn't content with any of them either, and it was clearly visible, but leaving Arashi bald was not something either of them wanted to do. "Just pick this one." Shu pointed his finger, and Mika took his finger into his own palm, pushing it closer to the screen. "See? Touch screen, hehe."

The artist simply rolled his eyes, before getting back to his literature. Mika went back to character creation.

They spent another hour like this, and since Mika wasn't being a bother no longer, getting used to the scuffed character creation, Shu wasn't getting mad at him either. It was a peaceful afternoon, with the sun slowly going down, making the atmosphere even more warm. He looked up for a second, and saw the warm beam of light decorating their kitchen and living room, with Shu's eyes looking even brighter, as Mika thought he could melt. His attention was brought back to the console though, as he didn't want to stare for too long. He finished making himself, Shu, Ritsu and Arashi. He bought and fed them some foods, or at least as much as he was able to get, since he didn't have too much money. Now came the fun part, making them interact.

Mika decided to drag his joystick over to fetch Shu's character, and dropped it on top of Arashi. He wondered — would they be friends in this universe, or would they not get along just like in real life? But his train of thought was cut short, as a cutscene started playing, and Mika's eyes blew open wide. The animations slowed down, as Shu's character stared in awe at Arashi, who was taking a whiff of some flowers. Mika's face turned pale, which Shu quickly realized.

"What happened? Let me see."

Mika sat up, holding his Switch in his shaky hands, as he brought the screen close enough for Shu to see, but not too close, in case he was about to smash it in his hands. The words "Have I fallen in love with Naru-chan, Mika?" appeared on the screen, coming from Shu's mouth, and Shu stared at them, like he just saw a ghost. Mika himself couldn't contain his laughter, seeing the face his Oshi-san was making. He clasped his mouth with one of his hands, turning his face away, as he couldn't hold it in well enough.

"Preposterous! Ridiculous! This is absurd! Foolish!" Shu became red on the face, as he tried to argue with the pixels on the screen, glaring daggers into the characters on the screen. "Kagehira, if you DARE to click the Yes button, I am rebooking your flight, and sending you home as soon as possible."

"Wah?! I didn' even do anythin'!"

"Well, do you think I would be any happy getting married to that woman?"

"Ehh…" Mika started pondering, and suddenly his laugh faded away. Shu getting married to… someone that isn't him? But, what was Mika even thinking? They weren't even together. His oshi-san loved him, but as a partner on the stage, not in the actual romantic way. His chest ached, but he shook the feeling away. "I mean, Naru-chan is nice, I'd love to marry her!" No, he wouldn't. Why would he lie about this?

"I'm not letting you get married to anyone, Kagehira." Shu blurted out randomly. Both of them sat there in silence for a few seconds that felt way too long, looking away from each other.

"I— I mean, wouldn't wanna marry anyone that ain't Oshi-san, anyways." Did Mika just make the uncomfortable silence even worse? Mika decided to take a peek at Shu's face, and what he saw was the thing he was expecting the least. The man's face as red as a tomato, but not from anger, not anymore. He was blushing, the pink flush made him even more ravishing. What was even going on anymore? Were they both trying to imply something, or was Mika just simply delusional?

"N'ahh, sorry for sayin' random stuff… I mean, Oshi-san is the… The most important person fer me… S- So…"

"Kagehira, cease this!" Normally Mika would've turned into a ball and looked like a kicked puppy, but there was something odd about Shu's tone of voice, so he kept still. He wasn't sure where this was going, however a second later he saw the man putting down his book on the edge of the couch. Mika tilted his head, before the other leaped closer towards him, almost making Mika drop his Switch on the ground. He leaned in towards his lips, grazing their noses against each other, as the boy stared in awe at the close-up of his Oshi-san's face. Shu waited for a second, making sure the other wasn't uncomfortable with this, giving him the chance to run, but Mika stayed still, ignoring the fact that he was freaking out, but in a good way. Finally, their lips connected for a delicate kiss. It felt like both of their hearts were about to burst, the impulsiveness of this situation making it even more heated.

"Kage- Kagehira." Shu pulled away, breathless. "I apologize, it was just…" This was the first time in a long while that Mika saw Shu so… disheveled. His hair was messy, a smudge of saliva on his lips. It was a sight he could get used to, if possible.

"Oshi-san… Wha' just happened?" Mika was pinned underneath Shu, as they fell backwards on the couch during the kiss. They were staring into each others eyes.

"I don't know, Kagehira. But… I love you, so please, do not get married to anyone else. I am not getting married to Narukami either."

"E- Eh?! Are ya confessin' to me in the most confusin' way?!"

"Maybe. Take it or leave it."

"I- I'm takin' it! I'm takin'!"

The Switch fell off the couch a long while ago, the cutscene still frozen. None of them cared about that anymore, though, as both of them reached out for another kiss.
