Chapter 1: Docking procedures have begun.

Chapter Text

The Chimera.

The ship of the infamous Grand Admiral Thrawn, the person I was hired to protect. I was being shipped there along with other Lutenents, soldiers, and various staff
members.

My back is killing me.

Since the personnel on board didn’t hold much particular importance, the ship wasn’t all that fancy. So much so I had to slouch as to not hit the top of my head. I had never even seen the Admiral, only heard rumors whispers amongst the crew, I was never a fan of gossip, probably because I was never involved with it. I mean, why would I be? The freak bounty hunter turned bodyguard? I’m sure they wouldn’t bother with me.

Docking prosecutors have begun.

Said the voice over the loudspeaker, a sharp hiss and the ramp lowered. First the other passengers exited, in line of rank. I finally stepped out and onto the smooth steel floors, my boots making a loud echo as they hit the ground.

I was promptly met with an attendant dressed in the Emperial standard gray tunic and brimmed hat, they were holding a datapad and a pen like device. “I see you have finally arrived.” The attendant met my eyes, even though he had to crain his neck to do so. “I will escort you to the Grand Admiral.” He turned, his steps reverberating off the durasteel walls with sharp clicks, I followed closely behind.

This place is massive. I thought to myself. The walls were just as uniform as the other well dressed men and women I passed in the halls. The entire ship felt like a maze, hallways seemed endless and empty, save for the occasional steps of troopers and crew, always in perfect sync. It was erey, like the place had no soul.

The attendant stopped, I looked back ahead, there was a door. It was slightly larger than the others, with two troopers standing guard at the entrance. The attendant gave the pen looking device to one of the troopers, the trooper plugged it into the door, a sound like gears turning followed by a beep, the trooper handed the device back to the man, the attendant nodded to the trooper and the door hissed open.

The attendant stepped in first, the room had large glass panels lining a wall of what looked like a command center, In the middle of the room there was a circular holographic table surrounded by what I could only assume were high ranking officers.

“The assassin has arrived.” The attendant stated.

Heads turned to us, looking me up and down, I straightened my posture. “So your my appointed bodyguard?” I glanced down at the table, there was a man, or not? It was certainly a non human. They had Prussian blue skin with defined facial features, dark navy hair slicked back and vivid red eyes with salmon irises. Was this the Grand Admiral? They were breathtaking.

I nodded, not wanting to get caught staring, “Yes sir.” I said, straightening a little more. His eyes dug into mine I felt they could see everything going on inside my mind.

Keep calm.

I needed to calm down don’t forget your here to protect this man, I need to get a hold of myself. Don’t forget your job. Don’t get distracted by him. “Thank you for coming on such short notice then, I understand this job will be a little different than what your known for.” He turned the holomap projection off he glanced at the other officers, “You are dismissed.” The other commanders dispersed, walking to the various doors and exiting, the attendant that escorted me followed, it was now only me and the Grand Admiral.

“Your skill among other bounty hunters highly impressive, I have to admit you’re taller than my informants said.” He stepped toward me, he was also taller than average, standing at an impressive 6”4, but he looked dwarfed at my high. (Made sense, I was 6”10 with the addition of my platform boots.)

He extended a hand to me, I shook it. “I’m Grand Admiral Thrawn, but I assume you knew that.” (Yes I did) “Venous.” I responded, “it’s a pleasure, Venous. I suspect we will be seeing each other more.” I sure hope so.
