The MBCC is known for its weekly (sometimes almost daily) 'problems'. Problems isn't the word Chief would use, but her superiors are still insistent that the Sinners be treated like prisoners. Chief fights tooth and nail for more freedoms and over time they have relented (after saving the city a few dozen times).
These freedoms have culminated in better facilities for the MBCC. Everything from a new dance studio, a larger greenhouse space, to the now new and improved gym. Not surprisingly, the gym was always damaged somehow. Most Sinners have enhanced physical strength and that always leads to accidents. Sometimes it was someone misjudging their strength and breaking a machine, other times it is competitions.
It is natural for competitions to happen. With how many different places her Sinner's come from there is bound to be some friction. From Eastside vs Syndicate, Shalom and Coquelic's rivalry (much less assassination attempts nowadays), to even Pylgia and Shin's conflict (Chief is working on it so it isn't kill on sight). Fortunately, after a few severe incidents with reprimands, these contests have become much less damaging to the MBCC's budget.
The most recent competition was something she was a victim of. Apparently, a lot of the Sinners were curious to see who could make the ever-so stoic Chief blush the hardest. There was lots of teasing, gifts, flirting, and all in all an embarrassing experience with no clear winner. That had been the final straw and since then, all competitions had to be done without her (totally not because Chief felt her face would be permanently stained red).
Since then, there hasn't been much of a ruckus which could only meant that something was brewing without her knowledge. Chief has checked most of the common spots around the Bureau and yet there was not a trace of a single soul. This is odd for a number of reasons, but mostly because Sinner's like to cause trouble hang out with each other during their free time.
As she strides past the newly renovated gym she could hear loud whistles and jeering. Poking her head inside she couldn't see past the crowd that has formed around something inside. Squeezing her way past to peek at the commotion, the sight before her did a better job than any of the Sinner's previous attempts last week.
Three figures stood in the center of all the attention with various reactions. The first is a new Sinner to the MBCC - Siglinde. It was hard to tell how she felt about all the stares from the others, her poker face giving almost nothing away. The corner of her mouth twitching upwards being the only indication she is having fun.
The second being Rahu. The former FAC soldier also maintaining the 'stoic' soldier vibe, and yet somehow looking shy (almost discomfort) from all the adoration and attention. Her typical oni mask nowhere to be found, she resorted to avoiding looking away from a section of the room. Chief's eyes quickly darted towards the source of unease which appeared to be a maroon haired woman with ashen gray tips lurking in the corner.
The final woman stole Chief's breath. It was no secret that Zoya is often the at the center of these events. The former leader of the Legion took pride in any competition and made full effort to come in first place. It was almost as if she wanted someone specific to notice her.
Chief is at a lost for words. All three of the Sinners were currently wearing workout clothes that hugged their muscles quite well. The three of them were in a fierce push-up battle with Faye providing commentary.
"…and remember folks, this is just the warm up for the main event. Currently, the bets are in and Rahu seems to be the crowd favorite," the shopkeeper yells over all the noise. "But look here - the newcomer Siglinde is quickly catching up in push-ups."
The crowd cheers as the clock hits zero. Chief barely remembers what she came here to do. Something along the lines of stopping trouble but she is currently distracted by a certain fury Sinner standing up. Faye's voice fades into the background as Chief stares at Zoya.
Her usual attire was nowhere to be found, and like the others, is wearing gym clothes. Unlike Rahu and Siglinde who wore tank tops, Zoya chose to wear a form fitting sports bra with an equally tight gym shorts. This has the added effect of her tattoos and abs basically being on full display for everyone to see. Sweat begins to bead on the Sinner's head, likely from the warm up competition.
Despite all the attention she is receiving, Zoya's eyes immediately find Chief's figure in the crowd. She smirks at the flustered Chief who quickly pulls her gaze away in embarrassment.
Now that wouldn't do.
Walking over to Chief and ignoring the rest of the room, she stands in front of her Chief. Placing a hip on one hand she addresses the gray haired woman who hasn't drew much notice from everyone yet.
"Something you like to see, Chief?" The wolf Sinner questions playfully. Zoya definitely saw how Chief was watching her. Being called out for blatantly staring at her only gave rise to her blushing. Chief looks up from the ground.
"And what if I did?" she replies timidly.
"Then there is more where it came from" Zoya says back. She takes a step closer towards Chief, the horde of people forgotten. "Be sure to cheer for me; I'll win this competition."
Chief could feel the heat radiating from Zoya's body. Unable to form words, she merely nods. Zoya strolls back towards the other two Sinner's who have taken their place next to a barbell with weights.
"And with Zoya winning the warm-up by having the most push-ups done, we are on to the main event: a deadlift competition," Faye announces, "up first we have Rahu to start off with."
Rahu makes her try at this competition. Lifting a solid 510kg, the former FAC soldier is incredibly strong. The gray haired woman knows for a fact that Rahu can lift more as the two shields she wields makes up far more . However, it is clear to Chief that the unease from Shalom watching in the shadows of the crowd is causing her to falter.
The next person is the DisCorps Sinner. Racking on more weights to the already filled barbell, she effortlessly lifts 730kg. This causes an uproar in the crowd, as this new record for the most lifted is snatched by DisCorps. The smile she had hidden before is now out in full force, beaming with a soldier's pride.
Finally, Zoya takes the stage. Having previously shown off before, most people knew how much she could lift. To everyone's surprise, Zoya actually begins taking off weights until about 600kg were left. It was apparent that Zoya wasn't trying to win the deadlift competition, but then what exactly did she mean?
Her motive doesn't become clear until Zoya meets her eyes. Not breaking eye contact once, she slowly lifts the barbell off the ground. Far slower than the other two had lifted and much less straining than Siglinde. Zoya drags out the the moment, muscles taunt but not overly exerting. Instead of dropping the barbell like the other two Sinners, she proceeds to bring the barbell in one smooth motion over and above her head.
The movement causing her abs to be on full taught display. Chief could see every curve and chiseled muscle on the fury Sinner. If her face didn't feel hot now, it most certainly did (and clearly showed too). Zoya slowly put the weight down, as if it were nothing but an everyday occurrence. Chief hopes it could be her next time.
She might not have won the competition to the dismay of Faye, but Zoya certainly won something far more valuable.
