Fire Elementalist

Summary:

“Do people with a connection to an element tend to have magic outbursts when they’re upset?”
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, why?”
Lucia pointed at the floor, which was currently smouldering under Amelia’s feet. “Wanna tell me what’s up?”

OR

Odalia wants Amity to choose a suitable partner.

Work Text:

“So how does elementalism work?” Lucia asked Amity. “Winona told me something about base magics, but I didn’t really get what she was saying.”
Amelia smiled. “Suddenly interested in actually doing some schoolwork?”
Lucia stuck a finger at her. “Just answer the question, bruja.”
Amelia rolled her eyes. “There are four elemental magics. Light, Ice, Plants, and Fire. Each Elementalist chooses an element to learn. Some witches have a natural connection to an element, and those people, are especially talented. Winona, for example, is a Plant Elementalist, and I’m a Fire Elementalist.”
Lucia nodded. “Do people with a connection to an element tend to have magic outbursts when they’re upset?”
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, why?”
Lucia pointed at the floor, which was currently smouldering under Amelia’s feet. “Wanna tell me what’s up?”

Amelia blushed as she realised, immediately calming herself. “Just my mother’s A+ parenting.”
“Oh yeah?” Lucia asked. “Wanna elaborate?”
Amelia’s blush deepened as she remembered the conversation with her mother. Odalia had tried to set her up with some guy, but she had pushed him off. Odalia had told her she either needed to find a partner or accept the ones chosen for her.

She looked at Lucia again, then covered her face, embarrassed.
Lucia frowned, worried. “She didn’t hurt you, did she?”
Amelia shook her head. “She just wanted me to do something for her. It’s no big deal, don’t worry about it.”
She jumped up from her seat quickly, running off before Lucia could stop her.

Did I say something to offend her? Lucia thought, shaken.
Lucia had asked her what her mum had done, and she jumped up and ran off without saying goodbye. So, there must have been something about what she’d said that was rude.
After lunch, she opened her locker and was surprised to find a note slipped into the locker.
She read the note, her eyebrows raising in surprise.

Meet me on the grudgby pitch after school.
Amelia.

Lucia leaned against her locker, groaning. Amelia had finally started to warm up to her, and now they were probably going to go back to fighting all the time.

What is wrong with me?

Amelia watched apprehensively as Lucia approached her. She nodded at the tall girl, who fidgeted nervously.
Amelia blushed as she stepped up to Lucia.
“Amelia, I’m really sorry,” Lucia began. “I don’t know what I did to upset you, but-”
“Lucia, what are you talking about?”
Lucia stared at her. “You’re mad at me for something right?”
Amelia groaned. “Oh, my Titan, you’re so oblivious! I wanted to ask you out, dork!”
Lucia flinched, shocked. “Huh?”
“I really, really like you and I hope you like me back, but I understand if you don’t, I just hope we can still be friends, but I had to get this off of my chest because-”
“Amelia, stop!” Lucia cried, grinning, giddily. “I like you to!”
“Oh, thank goodness,” Amelia sighed. “I was seriously freaking out.”
“So, is that what you were freaking out over then?” Lucia asked.
Amelia blushed. “Sort of. My mum said I either had to find someone to date or choose one of her chosen suitors. I only realised I liked you because… you were the only one I could think of.”
Lucia smirked. “Is the lovely Amelia going soft on me?”
Amelia smirked back. “Never, Noceda.”
