Chapter Text
The pain was indescribable. It felt like jolts of electricity, coursed down his spine, spread through his very nerves and left him trembling in the aftershocks. His bones twisted and stretched then rapidly broke, rearranging themselves into something smaller, much more compact.
His tailbone was suddenly on fire. It felt like it was being torn apart as it shifted and grew, piercing his skin as it jutted out, creating a new appendage.
His fingers and toes curled into themselves, fusing together. Light colored fur sprouted over what was once his hands and feet, traveling over the sharp curves of his new quadrilatic form.
His head throbbed. Everything was so loud! The sounds muffled together. He couldn't distinguish one from another.
Until...
Something smelt familiar. Sweet and enticing... it started out mild until he got closer and it grew richer, taking over his mind completely.
He had no control of his body. No idea what he was doing but he could feel his body begin to vibrate. A deep rumble escaped from his throat before felt his teeth... were those fangs?... Pierce through soft silky fur, sinking through a fine layer of skin and muscle and clamping down.
He could feel himself press down on the smaller body below him, pinning them to the floor as he adjusted himself. His hips slammed forward and he heard what sounded like a high pitched yowl. The body below him was trembling and shaking but holding him in. He couldn't understand it, but he knew that it felt amazing. Heat consumed himself as he moved back and forth, each time feeling more motivated at the growls and rumbles from below. It didn't last long, a minute tops but it felt amazing as he loosened his jaw, licked where he had bitten and moved back.
His vision was hazy, unable to make sense of what he was seeing and it only grew worse as pressure continued to form behind his eyes and everything went dark.
♡♡♡
He had no idea how much time had gone by. He couldn't remember much, besides what felt like a warm body pressed against his own. The soft, slightly wet nose.... it had to be a nose... burying itself against his neck, inhaling before tiny teeth would nibble and then lick, trying to coax him out of whatever dreamscape he was trapped in. Endlessly floating, free of the pain and confusion but still.... he could hear the soft rumble, the pleading to come back... what did they mean? Where was he? Why was that voice so familiar but so much softer.... quieter.... why did his heart ache at the broken tone. Why did his body shiver as his neck was nuzzled again.
That familiar smell.... why did it entice him so?
Finally... after what felt like ages... the sounds began to calm, becoming quieter, but still much louder then he was used to with his dwindling hearing. That low rumble that soothed the back of his aching head for the past while was still there. He could feel that same someone... a heaviness pressed against his shoulders.
The pressure was finally gone as he blinked his eyes open. The lights were dimmed, which was a relief because he felt like he'd been asleep for much too long.
A shudder ran up his spine as everything came into focus. Where the fuck was he? Was this his dorm room? It couldn't be... the floor and walls were metal? There was no furniture. His desk, bed, closet.... nothing but a plastic box and a pile of blankets. There was also a bowl set in front of... a feeling of pure dread filled his stomach. Bars... why were there bars? What was going on?
Ignoring the weight in his back, Katsuki jumped up, only to collapse. Everything felt wrong. His center of balance was off.... his equilibrium.... he felt like he could barely support is own weight. Why did he feel so wrong?
"Katsuki?"
He turned his head, eyes widening as he looked towards whoever said his name.
A cat. A beautiful long haired cat gazed back at him. It's head tilted slightly to the side. It's fur was like nothing he'd ever seen on a cat before.... half red and half white... and those eyes... one a slate grey and the other a shining turquoise. This didnt make sense! Why did this cat have the same colouring as his boyfriend?
"Katsuki? Are you back with me?"
He continued staring,. Shoto.... his boyfriend's deep, voice came from that cat but...
"It will be okay. Just try not to freak out...."
Freak out? Why would he...
He tried to push himself up back up, finally looking down to try and get his hands and arms underneath himself but nothing prepared him for the small, rounded blonde paws that he finally noticed. He also became hyper aware of the fact, that he could feel something swaying back and forth attached to his backside.
A tail?! He had a fucking tail! It was blonde like his paws.... his legs, which he now had four of. He could feel his ears twitching on top of his head before flattening down as fear raced up his spine and he finally managed to push himself up, sitting back on his haunches as he turned to look at the other cat. His beautiful Shoto, who was now a cat just like him.
"What the fuck is going on?" His voice trembled. He could hear his voice, clear as day but his ears perked back up as he also heard a frantic meow escape his mouth as well. He clamped his mouth shut, pupils dialating as Shoto stepped forward and carefully rubbed his cheek against his.
"It's ok. We'll figure a way out." His voice was laced with a gentle rumbling purr.
Katsuki felt his shoulders loosen somewhat as he rubbed back against Shoto. His familiar smell, invading his nostrils as a small trill sounded from him, causing the blonde cat to freeze and stare at Shoto once again.
"Happy to see me? " The bi coloured cat asked, as he tucked himself close and nibbled on his chin. "I have alot I need to tell you. Let's lay down...."
Katsuki's new cat body shivered, as Shoto ducked under his chin and pressed his back up, then slinked around him, leading the way to the small nest of blankets in the back corner of the cage. He watched as Shoto pawed at the blankets for a moment before slowly sinking his feline body down, tucking his paws carefully beneath him until he looked like a small loaf of bread.
"Come."
Katsuki looked down at his own paws again, lifting the right one and turning it. He frowned at the small pink toe beans before flexing his toes, nearly jumping back as razor sharp claws retracted on instinct.
Those might come in handy.
He gingerly set his paw down, before putting weight down in it and lifting his back legs until he was standing awkwardly on his four paws. He glanced over at Shoto, who gave him an amused head tilt as he cautiously stepped forward, one paw at a time.
He felt ridiculous. This couldn't be right! Instead of laying next to Shoto, he turned and practiced walking around the cage. One paw at a time, then both right paws., then both left...
That was it! Much better! His instincts seemed to have shown him what to do, as he carefully slinked around their new dwelling.
This metal beneath his paw pads was cold as he walked to the front of the cage. He shoved his face against two bars, his whiskers silently telling him that there was no way he would be able to squeeze through them. He looked out.
There were other cages lined up against the walls but they all seemed empty. There was a desk shoved up against the wall by the door. It was covered in papers and the computer screen was left on, an annoying endless loop of a maze playing as the screen saver.
He tried to listen for anything, but the room they were in was quiet. He could hear shuffling and voices from beyond the door, meaning that they weren't alone but that didn't help now.
He sighed before stepping back and heading back to Shoto, who lay in the same position but with his eyes closed and his tail flicking every few seconds.
"You sleeping?" Katsuki asked as he stepped onto Shoto's blanket nest and flopped down. He was nowhere near as graceful as Shoto, as he stretched his paws in front and his back legs splayed on either side of him. How his boyfriend could look like a petite loaf of bread and he ends up looking like a pancake, he'll never understand.
"Just resting my eyes for a minute," Shoto purred, before turning towards Katsuki.
"Listen 'suki. What I'm about to tell you is... alot to process and it's going to suck but you have to remain calm, ok? You can't.... you've been out of it for nearly a month and I can't lose you again. It's been too much and I..." Shoto paused, taking a deep breath to calm himself before continuing.
"From what I've overheard, the two of us have been here for a month. I don't know how they managed to capture us but they managed to drug us and then one of them used their quirk on us, turning us into cats."
"But why the fuck cats? And what kind of quirk lasts for a month?" Katsuki interrpted, his brain going a mile a minute as he tried to piece all of this sudden information together. "We learnt in class that animal transformation quirks rarely last longer then 48 hours."
"True," Shoto countered. "But we also learned, that if the quirk is used repeatedly, without being able a chance to return to the previous form...."
"The quirk is able to manifest and possibly become,"
"Don't say it," Shoto hissed, his eyes becoming tearfilled. "We just needed to get to Aizawa-sensei. He should be able to cancel the quirk or he knows someone who can."
"Princess..." Katsuki's loud purr caused the smaller cat to lean over and tuck his head against his chest. "It will be okay. Just... what else do you know?"
"OK so, when we were drugged, it was done in hopes that we would allow our animal instincts to take over. We're not supposed to be aware that we're trapped like this. The one man said, that it's extremely rare that anyone's conscious has been able to overcome whatever it is they put into us."
"How long have you been awake?"
"I think about two weeks now."
"Two weeks?!" Katsuki exclaimed, clamping his mouth shut as Shoto gently shushed him. "But I just woke up!"
"I know. I've been so scared that I might never speak to you again," Shoto admitted softly, his head pressed up against Katsuki's chin as he rubbed and purred soothingly. "You've been nearly feral since we got here, that's why they kept drugging you. They were afraid of you. You've left your fair share of bites and scratches on them. They even tried to separate us, but you wouldn't shut up and you were throwing yourself against the cage. They were worried you'd hurt yourself. The only time you're calm is with me."
"That makes sense," Katsuki admitted, as he ran his tongue down the space between Shoto's ears, not even realising he'd done it. "I can remember your scent. It hasn't changed from your omega scent. Still fucking addicting. And I could feel you too. I don't remember much else, but I knew you were there."
"I'm glad. I was hoping that just staying close would bring you back," Shoto purred, tilting his chin up to lick lightly on Katsuki's cheek.
"Now, 'suki... in order to survive until we can figure a way out, you have to behave like a cat. It's why I'm still here. Whenever one of those men come in, I'm not Shoto. I'm just a cat I go over to them. I purr and meow. I rub against their disgusting hands and they haven't expected a thing. A couple of them are fairly kind actually."
"I fucking doubt that," the blonde cat grumbled.
"No really. Sometimes they'll bring me treats..." Shoto's voice trailed off as he suddenly sat upright, his duel coloured eyes staring at the door as a shadow fell over the window.
"Be a cat," Shoto hissed, before he stood up and walked gracefully towards the front of the cage, his backside swinging slightly as he began to purr and rub his body against the bars as the door opened.
Be a cat. Easy for him to say.
