Summary
After failing spectacularly to allow his title and holdings to fall into abeyance, Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, is frog-marched by his godmother back to London. Simon's only solace in returning to English soil is his vow that the title his late father prized will die with him. His increasingly frequent run-ins with a certain redhead, however, begin to challenge everything Simon thought he knew about the future he wanted.

Or: An AU in which Simon arrives in London much later than in canon, Daphne marries the Prince in her first season, and Penelope breaks off her engagement to Colin after the "entrapment" comment.
This is my extremely late addition to Everybody Loves Penelope 2026. This is a Penelope/Simon fic. Later chapters will be explicit. Don't ship it? Go ahead and skip it :)
