Lonely.
Even surrounded by people, it's still possible to be lonely. Especially when the people you held closest to your heart are gone.
It really hurt Toilet to keep coming back here, but it was the only way he could fall asleep. Wrapped up in a memory of the past like a security blanket.
"Oh, what I wouldn't give to hear that voice again..." He muttered to himself as he closed his eyes.
"Toilet?!"
His eyes shot open.
"M-Mista Phone?! Is that you?!" Toilet shouted across the gemory cave, eyes darting back and forth scanning for him.
"Oh, Toilet!" MePhone4 said through poorly-concealed tears as he practically tackled the other object. "What are you doing here?"
It took Toilet a moment to even process what was happening. MePhone was genuinely happy to see him.
"Just trying to fall asleep..." He managed to get out, albeit quietly. "...what's goin' on with you?"
MePhone paused for a bit, silently staring at him... and then he started full-on sobbing.
"I made a mistake, Toilet... I miss the show... I miss the challenges, I miss the contestants..."
"I missed you..."
His heart practically jumped out of his chest upon hearing those words.
"You have a beautiful soul... you only ever wanted to help... and I was too stupid to see it." MePhone broke eye contact with Toilet to look away in guilt.
"Oooh, Mista MePhone... you didn't need to apolo-"
"ZZT!" MePhone raised one finger. "Yes I did. You deserve an apology after all I've done."
Toilet's gaze softened and his cheeks heated up as he listened to the other object's words.
"...Is this a dream?" He said (not very quietly) to himself as his eyes sparkled with unshed tears.
"Hey, that's what I was gonna say!" MePhone responded with pretend-annoyance, his past cheerful self finally starting to come back after lying dormant for so long.
It seems the future might not be that lonely after all.
