Summary
“I want to marry you,” Remy Lebeau had said to her, twice. The first time, he had a concussion and was completely out of his mind. The second time they were flying in the stars, and she had no clue if he was joking, or if he was actually telling her the truth, for once in his life. It didn’t matter. Rogue couldn’t get those words out of her head, either way. Years ago now, he’d stolen her heart away, and by the time she’d noticed it was gone, it was too late to ever get it back. So she’d taken his instead, and she didn’t even have to steal it. He’d handed it to her on a silver platter like it was always meant to be hers.
Gambit wanted to be next to Rogue every second of every day and to know that even when he wasn’t--he would always be able to come home to her. He wanted his cats to be their cats. He wanted to give her a promise that would last forever. He wanted her to be Mrs. Lebeau, if she’d have him. If he made her his wife, would she know, then? Would she finally believe she was worth loving? Probably not, but it was worth a shot, no?
