Chapter Text
“Alright, fencing team time.” Chloe said eagerly as she opened up her locker and grabbed her fencing sword.
Just then, a blur dashed behind her, followed by the sound of the sword swoosh, causing Chloe to pause for a moment. After a moment, she just figured it was nothing and grabbed her bag of fencing clothes next. Suddenly, another swoosh is heard, making Chloe really pause and start to glance around her, but the princess still sees nothing.
A few lockers down, Pink was pulling out a can of red spray paint with a broken heart symbol on it from her locker and handing it to her sister who shared the same name as the paint color.
“Thanks again for letting me borrow these for art class, Red! They were a little tricky to get the hang of since I’ve never actually used spray paint before,” Pink said, showing the red splotches of paint on her hands, “but I had a lot of fun using them, hehe!”
Red just laughed softly at her sister giving her a thumbs up with red-stained hands.
“Well, uh, if you need pointers,” she began, “How about you and I go to the royal garden after class and I’ll show you some different techniques? There’s a wall hidden at the back of the garden that Mom doesn’t mind me using.”
“Really?” Pink’s eyes sparkled with excitement at the idea of sister-bonding time. “Oh my hearts, yes! I’d love to!”
Somehow, Red still forgot how excitable her sister was, even at the smallest of kind gestures.
However, before the redhead could say anything more, a large figure in an Auradon Fencing Team uniform bumped into her back-first. Red was pushed to the side but stopped herself before she bumped into her sister. Red whipped around to confront whoever had crashed into her but the guy had already moved to the middle of the hallway behind them, hopping around and recklessly waving around a fencing sword.
“Hey! Matt, watch it!” she turned and hollered to the buff blonde bronco boy.
The son of Maximus (yes the horse I’ll explain in a later fic) whipped around dramatically, swooshing his sword and pointing at Red and Pink as he faced them, causing Pink to flinch and Red to put an arm in front of Pink.
“Hearts, Matt!” Pink exclaimed, a mix of panic and annoyance in her voice as the sword was thrusted only inches away from her body again. “You’re going to hurt someone doing that! Quit horsing around!”
“Oh, hey Red~” Matt greeted smugly, completely ignoring Pink and thrusting his sword at Red next. “Check out the new fencing sword! Made by Corona’s best blacksmith. Cool, right?”
Red just pushed the sword down with the spray can in her hand.
“Point that dumb sword at me or my sister again, and that pretty face of yours will get recolored by Wonderland’s best graffiti artist.” she warned, popping the cap off her spray can.
“…Heh. You think my face is pretty?” Matt teased.
“Oh, sorry. I meant “pretty sword” and “dumb face.”” Red deadpanned, shaking her spray can as a last warning to beat it.
“…So you do think my sword is cool?”
“Strike three.” the eldest Hearts sister declared, pulling out a black spray can in her other hand and popping the cap off.
Matt yelps in panic, finally realizing he should leave, does just that and books it down the hall.
“Red!” Pink said in a correcting tone, but only half seriously.
“What? I wasn’t gonna actually do it.” Red tried to lie, earring a knowing but playful brow raise from her sister.
A few more lockers down, a smaller teen with dark skin, golden brown hair, and wearing the same fencing uniform as Matt was leaned up next to her open locker, having seen the whole scene with Matt and Red.
“Well, can’t win ‘em all, Prince Charming.” the girl teased.
“Don’t patronize me, Kip.” Matt grumbled. “I can’t believe she wasn’t totally into the sword! I mean, look at this!” the stallion’s son thrusts his sword at Kip. “Pure. Aura. Right?”
Kipenzi, the youngest daughter of King Simba (JUST GO WITH IT I’LL EXPLAIN LATER), just hums a pondering note as she examines the blade, casually taking from Matt’s hand and holding it up.
“I just don’t get why she didn’t like it!” Matt complained.
“You mean,” Kip began, still wielding Matt’s sword, “why she didn’t like this-!”
Without warning, the former lioness thrusts the fencing sword at its owner, causing Matt to jerk to the side with a yelp.
“Hey!” Matt yelled. “What are-??”
Before he could ask, Kip continued to jab to each side of Matt with his own sword, slowly getting him to start backing up the way he came. She could help but chuckle to herself as she messed with her fellow fencing teammate.
Matt kept frantically dodging each jab from Kip, the both of them moving further and further back down the hall. He jumped side to side as they passed Luis Madrigal’s locker. He turned left and then right to avoid swooshes as they then passed Max Hatter’s locker. Kip jabbed and swiped, but Matt jumped and ducked as they moved past Pink’s locker, where the Hearts sisters were still standing, Kip giving the girls a reassuring wink as she pasted.
Eventually, Matt and Kip ended up in front of Chloe’s locker, with the blue princess now in her fencing uniform and grabbing her helmet when she noticed the two BKs jumping about behind her.
“Hey!” Chloe yelled at the two, causing both Matt and Kip to freeze in place. “You two know it’s against the rules to use swords outside of fencing practice! And against an unarmed classmate no less, Kip!”
“Oh, sorry, captain.” Kip said, twirling Matt’s sword in her hand. “I forgot it was against the rules to bother my classmates with my sword outside of practice.” she stared down the taller boy next to her as she spoke.
“Uh, right, right… against the rules… I know that! …Now.” Matt said, awkwardly trying to not make eye contact with Kip or his fencing captain.
“I’ll take the sword, Kip.” Chloe said, holding her hand out. “You can have it back after practice.”
“Right, of course,” Kipenzi agreed, handing the fencing blade over to her without hesitation. “Sorry again, Chloe.”
“You could seriously hurt someone horsing around like that.” Chloe said sternly. “Just don’t do it again, and I won’t have anything to tell Principle Uma.”
“Right. No more horsing around.” Kipenzi agreed, elbowing her teammate. “Right, Matt?”
“Yeah, yeah… I got it.” Matt nodded, annoyed at the whole ordeal on top of the horse pun.
When Chloe finally walked away. Matt turned to his smaller teammates with a smug look.
“Hmp. Serves you right.” Matt huffed in amusement. “Good luck going to fencing practice without your sword.”
“You do know that was your sword, right?” Kipenzi asked, raising a brow.
A moment passed, and suddenly Matt was booking it down the hall calling for his fencing captain. Kip just smiled slyly to herself, turning towards Chloe’s open locker before pausing.
“Oop, captain forgot her helmet. I’ll be sure give her this…” Kip said before taking the helmet and securing it under her arm. “…at practice. After I go grab my sword, hehe.”
And with that, Kip closed the locker and made her way to the fencing gym.
