“Yeah?” Al-Hashimi’s gaze slid to Cassie now, eyes gleaming in the night. The bags under her eyes were as dark as bruises. They paused under one of the parking lot’s lights, standing in front of the hood of Cassie’s car. Even in the warm glow, Al-Hashimi looked pale and worn. Her focus on Cassie was still sharp, though. Her exhaustion curbed her intensity, but didn’t smother it entirely.
