"My friend, surely it's obvious?" Mitya resists the urge to spin on the spot, barely short of clicking his heels. He settles for spreading his arms. "I am in love!"
"In love?" Valeriy repeats incredulously. "Is that some kind of a joke?"
"Think what you like," Mitya says breezily, though he is not entirely sure himself. This feeling, like flying, like burning up - he has never been in love before, but he has always imagined it might feel like this. The part where he'd been unsure whether he'd live to see morning, not so much, but he almost enjoyed that the most.

mitya immediately being enamored after having his life threatened... ok. whatever makes you happy ig😭 this fic was so good.... ough. i love ths writing style and i love how naturally every scene flowed. will be rereading #definitely
