It was just another Friday night, Kris and Susie were hanging out after school and watching movies. The draft coming from the window rustled Kris' clothes, making a shiver run down their spine.
The two friends lay on Kris' bed with the laptop balancing on their laps. Susie snacked on the slightly burt popcorn they'd made. Kris wanted to watch a horror movie, it wasn't cheesy like most in the genre though. The movie was apart of some series.. But they didnt care for that, this movie was the prequel — it was their favorite.
Obviously Kris had seen the movie before, so they mostly looked at Susie to see her reactions. Kris told themselves it was to 'make fun of her' for how scared she'd be, but Kris found themselves admiring her instead.
Kris was startled by a jumscare and spilled some of the popcorn, Susie did too, but she started laughing when she saw Kris jump aswell. "Dude-! Haven't you like.. seen this movie before?" Susie mused.
"Shut up.." Kris retaliated with a smile on their face. "Hey thats a bold statement man. want me to hold your hand so you dont get scared next time?" Susie laughed.
Kris tried to come up with a witty response but they just became flustered by the way Susie looked at them "I- ugh.. Just watch the movie!" Kris finally spat out.
"Sure.." Susie giggled throwing a popcorn and catching it in her mouth. Kris laughed, shoving some more popcorn in their mouth aswell.
The artificial clock next to their bed read 12:55 AM, Kris saw this in their peripheral and yawned. They relaxed their body, lowering their head to rest on Susies shoulder subconsciously. Susie nuzzled her head against Kris' in a playful manner.
Kris felt a tinge of electricity — or some feeling that made their face warm — in their fingertips. The electricity traveled up their arms and through their body, wrapping up their neck and tickling their cheeks. Kris didnt recognize this feeling, or perhaps they didnt want to recognize it, but it happened whenever they were close to susie.
The movie was forgotten by now, for Kris atleast, Susie didnt seem to be phased by anything that was going on, not like Kris, they felt in their bones. Kris was so close to Susie they could feel her heart beating. It was a soothing thumping pattern that was all too familiar. Kris slowly relaxed their body, and got more comfortable. Susies leg brushed up against kris' for a moment.
Kris was so entranced by their closeness to one another, they didnt notice Susie slowly taking their hand.
Kris nearly jumped when they realized, Susies warmth ignited the electricity in kris' body. They were worried Susie would be able to feel it too. But even if she did, Susie would never tell them that, but right now? It seemed like none of those complicated feelings mattered, even if Susie was just trying to make Kris feel better.
The pair didnt dare look at each other, they both knew that these moments weren't to be spoken of. Susie squeezed Kris' hand, like she knew exactly what Kris was thinking about. So Kris squeezed back. "Thank you, Susie." Kris whispered.
"You know how how I feel, Kris." Susie replied.
"I know." Kris paused. "I love you too."
