The Elevator (not a horror film)

Summary:

Chara and Clover get stuck in an elevator.

Work Text:

“Soooooo.” Clover looked at Chara.

“Yes?” Chara raised an eyebrow.

“The elevator ain’t workin.”

“Correct.”

“We’ve called the rescue guys.”

“Also correct.”

…

“Sooooooooooo, what do we do now?” Clover asked.

Chara shrugged, “Wait.”

“Frisk will be sad we missed their meeting.” Clover sighed.

“It was not anything important, Clover.”

“But that was why they wanted us there, remember? because we would apparently ‘entertain’ them while those fancy guys talked business."

Clover still didn’t know how to feel about Frisk finding them and Chara ‘entertaining’. Was it because they always seemed to get into trouble together? Look, Clover couldn’t exactly magically make the elevators work—or not work. they also didn’t mean to start fires either, For the record, those were total accidents.

Chara sat down on the floor. “Well, Frisk will have to do without our ‘entertainment’, I suppose. How terrible.”

“Did you not want to go to the meetin’?”

Chara looked away. “I did, not, not, not, want to go to the meeting.”

“…”

Clover squinted at Chara. “Whatever that was, it made zero sense.” Chara didn’t bother to answer, they just took out their phone “I’m going to text Frisk to make sure they know we did try to be there.”

Clover fiddled with their hair. “How long do you think it’s gonna take us to get out of here?”

“It is hard to know the exact measure since we will be waiting for them to arrive here, fix the elevator, and then for the elevator to continue up to the floor we were trying to get to.”

“So how long do you guess?”

“I suggest that you get comfortable with our current situation.”

Clover sat down on the elevator floor and tried Chara’s advice.

It was pure quiet.

They could hear their breath,

They could hear their knee tapping against the ground as they jiggled it back and forth,

they could hear their thoughts.

Why do we still exist? Just to suffer—Clover jumped to their feet, startling Chara.

“Imma do jumping jacks”

“Clover no.”

“Clover, yes.”

Clover positioned themselves for jumping jacks but Chara grabbed Clover's shirt and pulled it with force Clover didn’t know they had.

“Gosh Chara, How did you get so strong!” Clover exclaimed.

Clover tried to resist but Chara was surprisingly strong for a person with the physique of a skinny Victorian child.

Clover sat back down. They frowned at Chara, “why shouldn’t I do jumping jacks??”

“I don’t want to deal with the noise—or your body odor when you inevitably perspire.”

“Is it really that bad?”

“…”

“Chara?”

Chara looked away. Clover blushed.

They were now going to move on from that as fast as humanly possible.

“Soooooo…”  Clover tried to summon anything else to talk about.

“Uhhh, how did you get so strong?” Clover asked.

“Training with Undyne.”

“Oooooooo, really?” Clover's eyes widened. No wonder they were so strong! Clover had only met the guard once on the surface and she had given them a VERY firm handshake. In fact, it had broken Clover’s hand. Clover had to wear a cast for weeks! She was great.

“Yup. I now know how to suplex someone.” Chara looked at Clover pointedly.

“Is that a threat?”

Chara smiled “Only if you annoy me past a breaking point.”

Clover was not sure they liked Chara’s ominous tone.

“What else has she taught you?” Clover asked, now not quite sure if they really wanted to know the answer now.

Chara started listing things out on their fingers “How to properly handle a spear, the weakest points on a human body, how to punch with maximum force, what to cut if you have a knife, how to disarm someone bigger than you…”

Clover laughed nervously, “Gosh, you scare me sometimes, why did you need to learn all that?”

Chara shrugged “Self defense, and also it gives me something to do with the extra time now that we are on the surface.”

Clover nodded, “That sounds real’ nice actually.”

“It is. However, I wish there was someone more qualified than Undyne, she is rather boisterous.”

“Bloistur-what?”

“Boisterous. Lively, loud, and all together too much to take at more than one hour at a time.”

Clover laughed “I could see that. I’m glad you're on my side, Chara. I’d hate to be your enemy.” And not just because you’re scary and I don’t want to die.

“Who says you’re not my enemy?”

Clover looked at Chara.

“I thought we were friends, right?”

“Well, since we’ve entered this elevator… my loyalties have changed Clover.”

Chara smiled, showing every single one of their teeth.

Clover tensed. They were joking right?

Chara stared at Clover. “One person has to get out of this elevator, and obviously it will be me.”

“Ch-haaara?” Clover glanced around.

“I said what I said.” Chara drew their knife out of their pocket.

“When people are away from civilization too long, they eventually will become like animals. The strongest will eat the weakest.”

“CHARA. We have been in this elevator for at least twenty minutes! That is not nearly enough time for us to disregard our morals completely!”

Chara ignored Clover and ran their hand over the sharp edge of the blade. “You know Clover… They’ll never stop finding your body,”

Clover’s eyes were like saucers. Isn’t it supposed to be you won’t find the body?

“people will find pieces of your teeth embedded in the carpet, forever…” Chara stood up and advanced towards Clover.

OH GOD HELP ME.

“Chara? Chaaaraaa?!” Clover stumbled backwards as Chara advanced till they were stuck against the wall.

WHY DIDN’T I BRING MY GUN—oh, right because they were supposed to go to Frisk's ambassador meeting, not get stuck in an elevator.

“It’ll be a shame to kill you, I liked you so much…”

THEY LIKED ME?

Wait–

Not like that Clover.

They probably just meant friendship. Right? Clover really wished they didn’t feel disappointed that the person currently wielding a knife towards them didn’t like them.

Clover focused back on Chara.“—but that won’t matter once you’re dead.”

Bu-dump,

bu-dump,

bu-dump,

Clover’s heart beat fast as Chara took the final steps towards them.

Clover closed their eyes and prepared for the inevitable. They had felt death before, they could handle it again. They always had. Over and over… and over.

Clover kept waiting for a strike that never came.

Clover opened their eyes.

Chara’s face was inches from theirs.

“Boo.”

Clover screamed like a six year old, and Chara burst out laughing

“Oh, Clover you should know by now I would have killed you by now if I wanted you dead.”

Clover frowned, “how is that supposed to make me feel safe?!”

Chara rolled their eyes. “I am just being sarcastic, though if you did ever do anything that warranted it…”

Clover wished they could see what Chara was thinking because the malice in their eyes at this imaginary Clover made them very nervous. What did imaginary Clover do to get that face?

“I think we’re back to square one of me feeling safe with you Chara.” Clover said, only half joking.

Chara came back from whatever place their mind had been. “Apologies, Clover. For the record, you are safe with me. I will only suplex you if we are fake fighting.”

Chara sat next to Clover and put their knife back in their pocket. “And I’ll only knife anyone who goes after you, Frisk, or my family.”

Clover felt their heart melt towards Chara. “Aww, thanks Chara. I’ll shoot anyone who goes after you too—wait, Aren’t we pacifists?”

“Frisk is a pacifist. However, we are pacifists to a point,” Chara grinned wickedly. “Of a knife.”

Clover sighed, “Your dark humor will be the death of me.”

1 hour later (The zombie apocalypse)

“We’re going to be really late for Frisk’s meeting.” Clover commented.

Chara and Clover were sitting next to each other, leaning on the elevator wall. They had both been left to their thoughts for the last hour.

“It is obvious by now that we are not going to the meeting.” Chara pointed out,

“Are they really on their way to fix it?”

“It probably will take some time, Clover.”

Clover supposed they were right, but the thoughts in their head were getting… uh. Loud.

Clover didn’t think of themselves as an anxious person but whenever you gave them time to muse over things it eventually turned into worry.

Will I fail that algebra exam tomorrow? I wish I was better at math… maybe then Ceroba would be happy with my report card. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me. Maybe I am just dumb.

Clover slumped a bit and stared at their boots.

I’ve been trying so hard to not be a burden… but no matter what I just keep on making Ceroba spend more money on me when she already does so much for me. She even took me into her home.

Clover crossed their arms.

She’s done much more for me then she should have, even with the whole ‘I tried to kill you incident.’ She’s paid me back hundred times more than I deserve.

Clover sighed and turned to Chara

“Do you have any games on your phone? Even if it’s just Tetris or something...” …I don’t want to keep on thinking about this.

“No. We need to preserve the battery so I can track the time and tell our guardians what is happening.”

Clover pouted and looked away. The anxious knot in their stomach that had been growing as they worried writhed in their stomach.

Clover searched for anything they could do to pass the time, anything that wasn’t related to their thoughts.

Clover turned to Chara with a wide grin

“Oh no. You have an idea.”

Clover rolled their eyes and ignored Chara.

“to pass the time, how would you survive the zombie apocalypse?” Clover asked.

This was actually one of their favorite questions, they used it at parties for an icebreaker. Good thing they hadn’t used it on Chara yet.

Chara rolled their eyes. “It depends, what kind of zombie are we talking about? How is it transmitted? What weaknesses do they have?”

Clover tilted their head but kept on smiling. They totally, definitely, 100%, thought through every single detail about these hypothetical zombies and weren’t completely blanking on what the heck to say.

Clover had never gotten that in depth of a question before, usually people just told them about chainsaws or something. Of course, Chara Dreemurr would be all smart about this. Clover wished they were annoyed, but honestly Chara’s intelligence was one of the things they liked about them.

“Well, pretend you don’t have any knowledge yet, and you find a zombie in your house.” Clover said.

Chara nodded “I would kill the thing as fast as possible, of course. Preferably, I would try and catch them with a knife to the chest before they notice I’m there.”

“Then after I kill them I would find Toriel, and the rest of my family and make sure they haven’t been turned or killed.”

“Awwww, you thought of your family first. Softy~”

Chara narrowed their eyes at Clover.

“That they do not die? Obviously.”

“Then what would you do?” Clover asked, leaning their head on their hands so they could watch Chara as they talked. Chara started stroking their chin. “I’d find you and Frisk.”

“I’m part of your zombie survival crew~” Clover smiled “I’m touched.”

Chara rolled their eyes “Obviously. You have a gun, Clover.”

Clover sighed “Fair ‘nough. So you have your whole family plus me and Frisk, where do you go next?”

“I would try to find a safe place, somewhere we could keep watch but also be adequately protected, like a prison or a lighthouse. Then we would raid our houses for all the best items we could before the zombie situation gets out of hand.”

“Of course, I would make sure that included a radio or TV, then I would wait for a moment for updates or more information on what the zombies were like.”

“Smart.” Clover smiled. Clover loved when Chara gave their opinion on stuff like this. They always thought of things they would have never thought of. Plus, their deeply thinking face was really cute.

“So you have us all at your bunker.” Clover said “new news has come in! It’s chaos! people and monsters are getting turned! But nobody knows anything about them yet.”

Chara smirked. “Don’t want to have to think too hard about the logistics of zombies?”

Frick.

“Maaaaaaybe.”

Chara snorted, “Carry on.”

“So do you stay at the place or go somewhere else?” Clover asked.

“So you know how in most Zombie movies zombies freeze or slow down in the cold?”

“Ya.”

“I would make an educated guess on that, and round up as many monsters as I can and put them on a plane to Antarctica or the South Pole—whichever is closer.”

“Chara claus!” Clover giggled.

“Ho ho ho.” Chara said dryly, rolling their eyes.

“Anyways, I would set up a bunker there, get supplies for the planes so we could continually go out and get food, and find every non-effected monster we can. I think we could live for a while there while we either find a solution or the zombies naturally perish.”

“How would you make sure everyone wasn’t a zombie?”

“Look for bites or anything unusual—since we don’t know how this exactly spreads I would have checkpoints for people to come to. There they would get checked over and I would also make sure that those officers are also checked over. Finally, I would put them in quarantine.”

Clover nodded. (they honestly were only half following Chara’s logic but it sounded pretty cool to them.)

Chara continued on. “Then as technology and awareness around these zombies increased I would find a more efficient solution but in this scenario that would be my first solution.”

“Okay, you find someone with a bite, what do you do then?” Clover asked.

“Either lock them away or the more reliable method—end them.”

Clover raised their eyebrows. “You would kill a person who became a zombie?”

“We do not know how it spreads, or if there is a cure. Even if we did, the effects on the person would be astronomical. I would think it is a mercy.”

Chara stared at their shoes.

“Depending on how desperate the situation is, we might not be able to handle the risk of having a place with hundreds of zombies near where we have our group. What if they get out? Then everything I worked to protect would be dead in minutes.”

Clover frowned “I think you're right, but it still doesn’t feel right… I mean—what if we could heal them? They didn’t exactly ask to be zombies."

Chara tapped their chin, and looked back at Clover. “Another solution, if these Zombies can’t swim or walk on the ocean floor, we could choose one island or continent to act as a container for the zombies and drop them there so that they don’t have to die but also aren’t near enough to infect anyone.”

Chara frowned. “It still seems a bit risky however, since if the pilots get turned then we would lose the aircraft. Depending on the smarts of the zombies, they also could use the aircraft against us.”

Clover smiled “I would have never thought of this stuff Chara, your plan was much more precise than mine would be.” Chara blushed and looked away.

“It’s just an interesting scenario."

Chara looked back at Clover and tilted their head. “What would your plan be?”

Clover puffed out their cheeks as they thought for a moment. Honestly their plan was probably more similar to Chara’s now, but the one they had before this conversation was their first idea, so they might as well share that.

Clover shrugged. “Well, similar to you, I would gather everyone I loved first. But, I always pictured making a base in a connivance store—maybe I’d even reinforce it somehow?” Clover hadn’t really thought this through as thoroughly as they should have before they asked Chara about it. Their answer was waaaaay less in depth.

“Anyways, I would probably try to keep everyone alive for as long as possible or die protectin’ them.”

“Of course you would.” Chara softly smiled.“You have a theme of dying for the people you love, don’t you.”

Clover elbowed Chara in the side “You too, After all, the whole flower incident plus, your whole zombie plan revolves around protecting everyone right?”

Chara looked surprised.

“I never thought of it that way.”

Clover smiled “Awww look at youuu, I knew you were a softy at heart.”

“Everyone’s heart is soft. That is why a knife to the chest is so effective.”

“You know that’s not what I meant.” Clover teased

“Whatever.” Chara said, crossing their arms.

Clover had a thought as they looked at Chara. “What would you do if… I dunno, I got infected?” Clover asked.

“You would not be.”

“But—“ “I would NOT let you become a zombie, therefore, there is no what if.”

“Oh.” Clover smiled.

“Thanks, Chara.” Clover blushed. “Same goes for you.”

“Thanks.” Chara smiled at the floor.

1 hour later (pancakes)

“This is getting a bit insane.” Clover said.

Clover and Chara sat side by side, still waiting for a rescue. So far they had played twenty questions for the last hour and both were sick of it by now.

“Apparently it’s taking longer than expected.” Chara grumbled.

Clover sighed “might as well get comfy then.”

Clover laid on the elevator floor.

“You know how many people have had their feet on that, right?”

“I was sitting on the floor, and you are sitting on the floor. How is laying on it that much different?”

Chara sighed.

“True. However, I am not sleeping on that floor. I want to be able to leave as soon as we are able to.”

“What time is it?” Clover asked

Chara checked their phone.

“9:41 PM.”

“Darn it.”

Clover groaned “Do you have any snacks Chara?”

Chara shook their head. “I know you had dinner Clover, and I only have chocolate. That is something I will only give you after a week of us being here.”

Clover stuck their tongue out at Chara. “After we get out of here we should convince Toriel or Martlet to take us to McDonald’s.”

“Why McDonald’s? Their food is greasy and disgusting.”

“But they have the toys that come with your meal!” Clover exclaimed

“Do you really care about the toys?”

“They’re cool! Look, if you don’t like McDonalds, then we could do Wendy’s, get you a chocolate frosty or something.”

Chara raised their eyebrows “That is more appealing. However, why all the fast food? The longer we are in here the more likely we can convince them to take us to a much better place.”

“Oooooooo could we get pancakes?” Clover licked their lips.

Chara shrugged “most diners do have them, but you realize we are probably going to get out of here at midnight? Most places that have pancakes will be closed by then.”

“Awwwwwww maaan.” Clover closed their eyes.

“I was hoping for a nice stack of warm pancakes.”

“Just ask Toriel to make them for you. After all, she adores you.”

“Ooooooooooooo good idea.”

1 Hour more (Rock, paper, scissors)

“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”

Chara chose rock, Clover chose scissors.

“Seventh win.” Chara smiled, “You need to try harder.”

“I won four times! I’ll catch up to you eventually.”

“Maybe. Or you could just lose more.” Chara smirked.

“I DEMAND A REMATCH.” Clover declared.

“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”

Chara chose rock again, but frowned at Clover’s hand.

“What is that?”

“A gun.” Clover stared straight into Chara’s eyes. “It beats everything it’s up against.”

“Your ‘Gun’ is not a part of rock, paper, scissors.”

“It is so!”

“It’s in the name, Clover. Rock. Paper. Scissors.” Chara pointed out. “What do you do if both people draw a gun?”

Annoyingly smart observations, as usual.

Clover shrugged, “I guess we both lose?”

“Ha.”

They both lapsed into silence as they looked at their hands.

Clover looked up. “Arm wrestle?”

“Prepare to lose.” Chara held out their hand.

Another hour later…

Clover was laying on the floor, again. They were nearly asleep till—“Did the lights just turn off?” Chara yelped.

Clover opened their eyes to darkness.

Darker than dark.

“Where are you Chara?” Clover sat up.

“Over here—AH!” Something tripped over Clover's foot and a bigger thing hit the ground with a thud.

“Chara! Are you okay!” Clover rushed to the slumped figure grabbing their hand to bring them to sitting.

“Fine. Just… stumbled a bit.” Chara mumbled. Their tone was tense, as if they were walking on an invisible tight rope.

“Is there some reason for the light to be out? Do you still have wi-fi?”

Chara turned on their phone. “Looks like the wi-fi is out too.” Chara growled.

Clover was starting to be concerned. Chara’s voice was odd and they hadn’t let go of Clover’s hand either. Their grip was very strong, though, it wasn’t that Clover was complaining… It just hurt a little bit.

Chara turned off the phone leaving them both in total darkness again.

“So we can’t contact anyone right?” Clover asked.

Chara sighed. “Correct.”

“Chara?”

“What?”

“Can you loosen your hold on my hand a bit? It’s starting to hurt.” I honestly wouldn’t mind as long as you didn’t squeeze so hard.

Clover felt them jerk their hand away “Sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Clover didn’t mind. If it made Chara feel better they would hold their hand all day.

“are you okay?” Clover asked.

“I’m fine.” Chara’s voice was strained and trembled a bit.

Clover rolled their eyes.

“Are you sure?” Clover asked.

It was silent for a moment, long enough to make Clover think Chara didn’t bother to answer.

“…I’m going to tell you something, and I need you to promise on everything you love that you will not tell anyone this.”

“Absolutely! I swear on everything and Absolam.”

“Absolam?”

“I named my teddy bear Absolam.”

“Why would you—wait, do you still sleep with—Nevermind.” Chara sighed.

“I… dislike the dark…” their voice was quiet. It almost seemed like they had aged back to be several years younger.

“I also dislike cramped spaces. And being trapped.”

“Me too, at least for the dark part.” Clover said. “That’s why I sleep with a teddy bear, it makes me feel as if someone’s there. As if I’m safe.”

“Ah.”

Silence.

“Do you want a hug.” Clover asked hopefully.

“Yes.” Chara’s voice cracked.

Clover wrapped their arms around Chara, giving them a big squeeze. Chara put their head on Clover’s shoulder, and wrapped their arms around Clover’s stomach.

Oof.

They had a very tight grip.

Am I sure that I’m not friends with an anaconda? Clover wondered for a moment if this was a trick and Chara was actually going to suplex them. However, Clover could feel that Chara was shaking a bit which made it hard to believe that this was a joke.

Chara was warm against their chest and so close Clover could feel Chara’s chest rising and falling.

Clover’s heart sped up a little bit.

“It’s okay.” Clover murmured. “Soon we’ll get out of here and get some pancakes—or whatever you want.”

Clover rubbed their back in small circles, and kept making what they hoped were comforting noises.

Chara’s breaths slowed down and grew steady again.

However, Clover’s breath had started to speed up.

Even though their grip relaxed, Chara still hadn’t let go of Clover and was basically limp against them.

Well this is…surprisingly nice.

Clover had never really hugged them before. First they weren’t really at the hugging phase of friendship, and then Clover had generally assumed hugs weren’t really Chara’s gig.

It would be nice if I could give more hugs to them.

Clover felt their face heat up at the odd thought. They were suddenly very glad that Chara couldn’t see their face right now.

Uhhhh, is there anything else I should say to them? Oh gosh I hope I’m not sweaty. Their sweater is so soft—they kinda smell like cinnamon, is that creepy to think? I Probably should NOT be smelling them. FOR GOODNESS SAKE. STOP SMELLING THEM CLOVER.

Then, the lights came back on… Which made it even harder to think now that they could see Chara in their arms. Their hair on their shoulder, how close they really were, how real the whole experience was… Clover was now frozen.

Chara lifted their head and peeked up at the ceiling.

“The Powers back?” They mumbled, rubbing their eyes.

“Yu-up.” Clover stuttered.

Chara squinted at Clover's face.

They were very, very, close.

They could see every shade of brown in Chara’s eyes.

Why did that make their head so di-izzy?

It was so hard to, to—think or breathe with their eyes on them.

When Chara saw Clover’s expression their eyes widened, their face flushed, and they (unfortunately?) let go of Clover immediately.

Chara pulled away till there was a healthy distance between them again.

“Sorry.” Chara looked anywhere but at Clover.

“No it’s fine!” Clover blurted. It was totally fine. Just comforting their… friend. Yes.

Clover kinda already missed hugging them.

Though, it was nice to be able to think again.

Clover put a hand to their chest, their heart was beating so quickly they could have sworn it would burst.

Why did the hug make me so anxious? Clover hugged people all the time. So there shouldn’t be any difference with Chara right?

Clover looked over to see Chara had gone back to a corner of the elevator and began poking at their phone. Clover laid back onto the floor and tried to sleep.

It was hard though, Clover kept wanting to look at Chara for some reason. Clover opened their eyes and watched them.

Do they think I’m a creep? I wasn’t trying to make it weird, they just were so scared—Chara glanced back at them.

Clover closed their eyes.

I'M ASLEEP. I’M ASLEEP. I’M ASLEEP. AND THAT NEVER HAPPENED.

WHY AM I SUCH A DORK.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Even though Clover’s thoughts raced, eventually the thoughts tired them out, and Clover fell asleep.

Two hours later. (Dreams and Mustaches)

Clover was in the middle of a tropical paradise, Abraham Lincoln was doing the hula, there was a giant stack of sea turtles on top of each other, and the trees shot lasers into the sky as they screamed “I WANT IT THAT WAAAY!”

Paradise.

Clover took a drink of Elmo and sighed as they settled back into a dolphin.

It was so peaceful here… “Clover?” Chara’s head appeared in the sky like Mufasa.

“Heya Chara! Do you want some of Elmo? I think that Scrooge guy has some more if you want some!”

“No Clover. I am here to speak about…”

Clover held their breath, hopefully not the poodles that were perfect circles, Chara probably wouldn’t approve of that.

Instead a deeper voice spoke. “Your future.” Suddenly Clover was in the Jurassic era, and Tom Holland sat across from them using Starlo as a pen.

“So how does that make you feel?” Tom Holland's voice was so similar to Donald Duck! Weird how Clover had never noticed it befor—“CLOVER?”

Suddenly Tom’s head opened up to reveal Chara, once again. “Wake up!” Clover was trying! ‘Baking up’ was hard afterall... It was not everyday you were randomly thrown into space and had to make scones!

“Make sure to lick the batter…” Lilo and Stitch said at the same time as if they were possessed. “Thanks guys!” Clover really couldn’t wish for better friends.

Chara POV switch

Chara groaned. There was no way they were going to be able to wake up Clover. “I’ll get the head if you can get the legs, Frisk.” Frisk cracked their knuckles “Got it!”

“Do you two need anything?” Toriel asked, “It’ll take us an hour to get to Clover's place, I can easily get some food for you two.”

Chara shrugged, “Clover really wanted pancakes.”

Toriel giggled “Liked my pancakes that much?” Chara rolled their eyes, “Clover likes every kind of pancake.”

Toriel smiled. “Well, we can not exactly get pancakes in the middle of the night can we? I’ll stop at Wendy's."

“Clover probably won’t even wake up for food.” Frisk laughed, “Look at that face.” Frisk poked Clover’s cheek. Clover didn’t even stir. Their mouth was wide open and a bit of drool rolled down their chin. The elevator rattled as they snored, a horrible unholy sound that should never come out of something so cute. Chara had spent the last two hours trying to not slap Clover awake or strangle them.

After the whole dark hug fiasco Chara did NOT want to be mean to Clover, especially after they had been so kind towards them. However, after two hours of their snores… Chara was plotting revenge.

“I have an idea~” Frisk said.

“Oh?”

“I have a few markers, sticky notes, and these fake mustaches I found.” Frisk pulled them out.

Chara and Frisk turned towards their sleeping friend with wolf-like smiles.

“Let us carry them to the car first, my children.” Toriel said.

In the car

Clover was in between Frisk and Chara, who were each eating a burger and frostie from Wendy’s. Clover’s order had been sat on their lap for whenever they might wake up. Which seemed unlikely since they were still snoring, and they were leaning on Chara, who was ignoring their flustered feelings to take the closeness as an opportunity for attack.

Clover, after a few hours in the car with their troublesome friends, now looked like a middle schoolers drawing.

There were black lines of marker that came down from each nostril to their chin, ‘F and C were here’ on their forehead, a surprisingly good drawing of a cat on their jaw, and a surprisingly terrible drawing of a dog on their cheek. Ants crawled around their left eye, and a little drawing of Bill Cypher watched on their neck—that one was in permanent marker of course.

The crowning cherries on top were the fake mustaches. One above their lip, another two taped to their ears like earrings, and finally, a sticky note on their nose that said “Free coupon for pancakes via Toriel, enjoy your new make up!’— C and F” look, they could be a little nice, and still be little shits.

Clover was returned to Martlet.

Chara and Frisk returned home to where they both fell dead asleep.

Of course Clover’s dreams (after the ones that sounded like drug induced hallucinations ended) included a certain person who started with ‘Ch’ and ended with ‘a’.

And of course, Chara had sweet sun filled dreams that often featured a person with a Cowboy hat and an unforgettable smile.
