Hot Mechanics and Happy Marriage
Stiles Summer Stories 2026
Stiles wouldn’t be able to draw the Hale family tree even if someone held a gun to his head. To be fair, he was also sure that at this point, the Hales were intentionally messing with him. He’d heard Cora call Peter ‘uncle Peter’. But she also referred to Derek as her brother. Which didn’t make sense, because the one thing Stiles knew for a fact was that Peter and Derek were married.
He’d realized that two weeks into Roscoe staying with Hale Auto. At that point, he had – embarrassingly enough – already tried to flirt with both hot mechanics separately. And then he walked in on them kissing against a car, tongue and wandering hands and all. It had fully short-circuited his brain. The image was burned into his brain and he may or may not have masturbated to it. Repeatedly. But that was also when he’d first seen the matching golden wedding bands, kept on chains around their necks. Peter and Derek were married, that was a fact.
But the Peter-Derek-Cora dynamic wasn’t the only one confusing at Hale Auto.
The only other straightforward one was Eli Hale, Peter and Derek’s utterly adorable son.
Malia Hale was probably Peter’s daughter from a previous relationship, or at least that was Stiles’ best bet at this point. Partially because she always only referred to Derek by his first name but called Peter ‘dad’, but also because she was Stiles’ age and though Derek was also older than Stiles, he wasn’t ‘could be your biological father’ older than Stiles (which, for the record, would not stop Stiles from calling him Daddy if Derek asked him to). Stepdaughter, then.
Isaac Lahey Hale had Stiles honestly fully at a loss. Running theories included: Married to Malia, married to Cora, another kid from a previous relationship of Peter’s, or adopted. He called neither Derek nor Peter dad and he wasn’t overly affectionate with either Cora or Malia, while also being weirdly affectionate with everyone, as was part of all Hales’ deal.
Kira Yukimura Hale, kind of the same. Might be an adopted kid, could be married to one of the Hales. Probably Malia, but honestly, this whole family was so affectionate, all bets were off.
Erica Reyes was marginally easier, because she was so much like Peter that Stiles was about ninety percent sure that she was Peter’s bio daughter from a previous relationship.
And Vernon Boyd was Erica’s husband. Those two did so much PDA – well, Erica did most PDA, Boyd just kind of couldn’t resist his wife. So Stiles had those figured out.
The rest was just still up in the air. And Stiles should probably not be that invested in the family running the car shop that was working on Roscoe. He definitely shouldn’t be pining for Derek and Peter. He needed to take a step back from the Hales. Healthy boundaries and all that. Yeah. That sounded good. That should help. Purely professional. He was a customer, they were repairing his beloved car and once Roscoe was up and running again, he wouldn’t see them again anyway.

Derek smiled pleased when he picked up Stiles’ scent. He wasn’t the only wolf to do so though because Eli came barreling past his father with an excited squeak, nearly crashing into Boyd’s legs on the way to Stiles. Boyd blinked after the kid, shaking his head.
“Sti—iles!” Eli exclaimed as he crashed into Stiles, nearly knocking Stiles over.
Thankfully enough, Eli wasn’t the only Hale summoned by the scent though Peter had stepped out of the office and was right there to steady Stiles with a firm grip on his upper arm, smiling at Stiles when the boy looked up at him doe-eyed.
“Uh, thanks. Eli’s… energetic as ever,” Stiles chuckled and, upon Eli’s demanding tugging, picked the kid up into his arms. “Did you sneak more of uncle Boyd’s baked goods than you were supposed to again, young man? Did you have too much sugar?”
“Nu-uh,” Eli shook his head. “Just excited to see you! You weren’t by in forever!”
“A week isn’t forever, Eli,” Peter pointed out.
Derek snorted because last night in bed before going to sleep, Peter had been pouting about the fact that Stiles hadn’t been by the shop in forever. Peter shot him a glare when he heard the snort. It wasn’t Derek’s fault that his husband and their son were so alike.
“Yeah, I, uh, was busy with classes,” Stiles lied with a crooked smile.
That put a frown on Derek’s face though, because why would Stiles lie about that? Then again, they had been monopolizing Stiles’ time a lot. Surely the boy had better things to do than hang out at the car shop. He was probably frustrated with how long it was taking them to fix his Jeep.
“Have a brownie as a reward then,” Erica offered as she headed out of the office too. “But also, that little liar did have three pieces of brownie today already, so definitely too much sugar.”
She was carrying a box with Boyd’s brownies and Stiles very happily took one, while Eli stuck his tongue out at Erica for tattling on him. Derek smiled fondly at his son. It was dangerous just how warm he felt looking at Stiles carrying Eli like that. The wolf in his chest was rumbling contently at the image they painted together. Like family. Like Stiles was theirs. Good mate, taking care of their pup. Peter stepped away from Stiles to instead join Derek as he felt the shift in Derek’s emotions through the matebond. He rested a hand on Derek’s lower back, frowning concerned. With a shake of his head did Derek lean in to kiss his mate. Nothing that needed to be put into words, especially not now that Stiles was here. Later, when they were alone, perhaps.
“You came to check in on Roscoe?” Boyd asked with a smile.
“Ye—ep. Gotta see how my best girl is holding up,” Stiles grinned at him. “If you guys need anything from me to keep going?”
Roscoe’s headlines flashed at that and Stiles beelined it straight to his Jeep, gently caressing her hood. In all the years that the Hales had been running Hale Auto now, they’d never dealt with anything like Roscoe Stilinski. A magically sentient car and the familiar to her owner, who was a powerful Spark. The main reason this Jeep was still running was Stiles’ magic. But he’d finally caved when she broke down fully and looked for a supernatural-owned car shop to have her thoroughly fixed – meaning all the duct-tape and the magic that bridged what should be a car’s regular functions needed to be replaced by actual car-parts and repairs.
Which meant that Stiles was unusually involved in the repairs, since they needed him to undo spells and runes, or to apply them on the new car parts. Over the past weeks that Roscoe had been in the shop, Stiles had been by about three times a week. So this past week of radio silence had made Derek nervous, had caused his wolf to pace in his rib-cage, ready to run out there and track down Stiles to make sure the boy was safe, was alright.
“I know,” Stiles cooed at Roscoe, rubbing her hood. “But you really do need a thorough repair job. Mom and I have done too many quick fixes with magic. They weren’t permanent fixes. And I want you to be okay for a long time, so you gotta stay with the Hales for now.”
Derek smiled fondly as he watched the boy talk to his car. Falling in love with a customer was a horrible idea, especially since Derek was quite happily married and mated. But falling in love with a powerful Spark? What would the boy possibly want with two traumatized, older werewolves?
/break\
As soon as they were in their bedroom did Peter back Derek against the door. He kissed his mate with a hunger fueled by seeing their pretty little Spark in those painted-on jeans. Stiles hadn’t been by in a week. Sure, Peter had been well-aware of his attraction to the boy, and also of the fact that his wolf had grown fond of him, but just how deep that ran only became apparent when they hadn’t gotten to see Stiles in a week. Peter’s wolf was overjoyed, was purring in delight when he got to see Stiles carry Eli around and play with him.
“We need to act soon,” Peter whispered against the crook of Derek’s neck.
“Peter,” Derek sighed and bared his throat to the other Alpha.
“No, don’t ‘Peter’ me,” Peter nipped ever so slightly. “I saw you perk up when Stiles entered. I saw you scent-mark Stiles. I saw the way you were watching him with Eli.”
Derek went quiet at that, unable to deny it. Peter growled softly, pleased. For weeks now, Stiles had been coming by. They’d been stunned at first, never having met a Spark yet. Never having met a sentient car before. It was strange, when one had to acquaint themselves with the car they had to work on. But Roscoe had a lot of character and Peter quite liked her.
“He fits perfectly with us, darling,” Peter whispered, licking a stripe up Derek’s throat and then gently biting Derek’s earlobe. “He’s perfect for us. For you and me. For our pack. For Eli. I’m fairly sure our son adores Stiles more than us.”
“Oh, he would trade us in a heartbeat,” Derek snorted softly, before his gaze turned more somber. “We can’t do that. We’d be asking too much of him, Peter. Look at us. We’re older than him, we’re married, we have a son, we’re werewolves and Alphas, at that. This isn’t a casual relationship we’d be asking for, we’d be asking for a lot there. He’s still young, why would he want all that baggage? Just because he’s sexually attracted to us doesn’t mean he wants all of that.”
The attraction was always palpable in the air when Stiles was around them. Peter sighed as he took a step back from his husband. Derek wasn’t entirely wrong. Stiles was in his twenties, in college, he didn’t need to be settled with the responsibility that came with having the pack and the kids. Especially since Stiles was the same age as Isaac and Malia. How mortifying would that be, to be the same age as your partner’s children? And there really was no easing into things, with a pack of wolves and with a very excited toddler who already adored him.
“You know it’s not that easy though,” Peter pointed out softly. “Our wolves got attached to him. You can be as rational as you’d like, once a wolf finds its mate, it’s set.”
Derek grunted softly and looked at the floor, knowing that Peter was right. With a sigh did Peter step up to his mate and curl his hand around Derek’s neck, giving it a gentle squeeze. He leaned his forehead against Derek’s and the two just stood there, in each other’s space.
“It should be his choice,” Derek whispered in the end. “I don’t think we have a realistic chance, but it should be his choice in the end. Even if it will make things… strained.”
Stiles knowing of their advances and not wanting them would make it rather uncomfortable for the boy to have to come back to the car shop repeatedly. Peter would never want to make Stiles uncomfortable and he wouldn’t want for Stiles to have to go and try find new mechanics. Not many supernatural mechanics around, really. And Roscoe was in dire need of these repairs.
“We tell him when Roscoe is done, then,” Peter suggested gently. “If he doesn’t want us, he never has to set foot into the car shop again.”
Peter’s wolf snarled in his chest at the mere suggestion. Derek nodded his reluctant agreement.

“To Stiles! And to his temporary freedom!” Kira cheered, lifting her bottle.
Stiles huffed and smiled softly, but toasted her as the rest of the Hale Pack cheered around them. When he’d gone to check on Roscoe today with the ‘bigger on the inside’ enchantment for her trunk, he’d been in such a good mood it had radiated off of him and when Cora asked why he was vibrating out of his skin, he told them that he’d handed in his Bachelor thesis today. They’d declared this a reason to celebrate and somehow, after dealing with Roscoe for the day, Stiles found himself herded up onto the rooftop of the building where there were couches and tables and plants and it was just a really nice space to hang out, actually.
Perks of owning the building, Stiles supposed. He’d known that, knew that the pack lived above the garage, but he hadn’t known about the roof. Isaac and Boyd carried coolers with drinks up and now they were celebrating him. It was probably sad that Stiles didn’t have any college friends he was celebrating with, that the people he was closest to were his mechanics.
“The freedom really is only temporary though,” Stiles huffed. “I already applied for the Master’s program. Library science is right around the corner.”
“I do not understand willingly doing more school,” Malia muttered with a frown.
“Yeah, same,” Erica agreed. “I’m glad I got done with high school.”
Stiles huffed out a laugh and shrugged. “Not everybody can have a rich dad who helps them open a car shop with the whole family, you two.”
There was a moment of pause and then Erica was squinting at him. “...Did you just imply that Peter is my father, Stiles?”
Stiles took another drink from his bottle and nodded. “I mean? Yeah? Like, I am kinda shady on most relations in this family tree and how the branches twist, but you two are like Peter’s daughters from a previous relationship, right?”
“I am,” Malia shrugged. “But Erica’s not my sister. ...Right?”
Peter huffed offended when Malia squinted at him. “I am not Erica’s father. Berto would be punching me in the face for that one. Though there was a time in high school when-”
“Nope, no, absolutely not,” Erica interrupted him. “If you make me think about you and my mom, I will throw up in your lap, Alpha.”
“...Oh,” Stiles blinked slowly. “I just figured, I mean. You all are pack but kinda also family, so I thought that’s how Boyd and Erica fit in? Erica’s Peter’s daughter, Boyd’s her husband?”
“Well, you got the husband part right,” Boyd snorted, one arm around Erica’s waist.
“Because you two make that one easy to figure out!” Stiles yelped, then pointed at Kira and Isaac. “I still have no idea how those two fit into this family! Are they adopted? Are they married to Cora and Malia? Are you just messing with me at that point?”
The Hales laughed and Stiles definitely blamed the alcohol in his system at this point for the rambling, since he’d been wondering about these things for weeks now. But the relaxed atmosphere out here, the drink in hand and the fact that they were all just sitting together, nobody was working, it somehow loosened his tongue. Cora rolled her eyes with a disgruntled look.
“Not married to anyone, especially not them,” Cora huffed.
“Wife,” Malia pointed out and wrapped an arm around Kira’s waist to pull her closer. “Mine.”
“I’m sorry! This pack is really affectionate, like, I saw Kira sitting on Erica’s lap the other day!” Stiles huffed with a pout. “And I’ve never seen you guys kiss before!”
“Because unlike other members of this family, I try to be professional,” Malia rolled her eyes. “And not make out with my wife while we’re at work. But we aren’t at work now.”
A wolfish grin spread over her lips as she tilted Kira’s head and pulled the flustered kitsune into a definitely indecent kiss. Stiles flushed and turned to look away from them, settling on Isaac instead.
“Adopted,” Isaac offered. “When my father died, I was accused of murdering him. Derek’s been friends with my older brother, before he died. So he asked Peter for a favor, to be my counsel. And they kind of ended up becoming my foster parents and in the end, made it legally official.”
Stiles nodded at that, his eyes on Boyd and Erica again. Boyd smirked at him in amusement.
“Our parents were part of the OG pack. When Peter first became an Alpha, his pack was made up of Erica’s parents and my parents. We’re second generation Hale Pack,” Boyd offered. “Family.”
Nodding slowly, Stiles turned to look at Peter, Derek and Cora. The three Hales blinked confused.
“Darling, surely it hasn’t escaped your attention that we’re married,” Peter pointed out, his fingers gently carding through Derek’s hair in a way that filled Stiles with longing. “Right?”
“Well, duh,” Stiles rolled his eyes and motioned toward Cora. “But she calls Derek her brother and she calls you her uncle and I am ninety percent convinced she’s doing it to mess with me!”
There was a pause and it was kind of weird this time. Stiles took another drink and blinked, waiting.
“I’m their uncle,” Peter said, after all. “Derek and Cora. Their mother is my sister.”
“Oh,” Stiles blinked again, slowly. “That… hadn’t occurred to me. To be fair, you, like, look nothing alike? I mean, the hot and handsome might be genetic, but you don’t exactly share many physical traits? The cheekbones, the eyebrows, the eyes?”
“Yes,” Peter smiled, a little bemused. “Derek takes after his father, Cora after their mother. Talia and I, I believe, do look somewhat similar, even if I take more after our mother than she does.”
“Huh,” Stiles nodded and considered what the rest of the family must look like.
“Does it… bother you?” Derek asked softly, looking weird.
Stiles blinked again, slower this time, and watched the way Peter rested a hand on Derek’s knee. It took him a moment with his fuzzy brain to realize that they were worried about his judgment.
“I mean, you’re wolves, so it’s not that unusual,” Stiles shrugged, his lips against the bottle. “You’re happy with each other, so that’s that. But like, it does explain why I couldn’t figure out the family tree. So you’re passing off as just a married couple to humans.”
“Yes,” Peter smiled and interlaced his fingers with Derek’s, lifting his hand up to kiss.
Stiles hummed and continued drinking, feeling somewhat settled to finally have figured out his Hales. He frowned at that. He really had grown too attached to this pack, hadn’t he? But then… He looked around, looked at these people who had had no obligation to be up here and celebrate him, to take the time out of their day to celebrate his achievements. But they did, they took the time, they were with him, chose to be with him. Stiles turned to look at the Alpha pair.
“Am I part of your pack?” Stiles asked bluntly.
The argument between Erica and Isaac died at his sudden question. Everyone was looking at him, somewhat surprised. Oh. He shouldn’t have asked that. He bit his lower lip.
“Sorry. I guess I had a little too much,” Stiles laughed awkwardly and put his bottle down. “I shouldn’t have asked that. That’s a rude assumption. I just, I mean, we’re here, right? But…”
“Sweetheart, stop,” Peter interrupted him and reached out to rest a hand on Stiles’ knee. “That… was an unexpected question. I… hadn’t realized that you would feel it that strongly.”
“I am a Spark,” Stiles pointed out. “We are linked to wolves. I just… didn’t really… I mean, I’ve been in a pack before, in high school, and it was different back then. But this… feels like pack. If I’m not… I just kind of felt like I was maybe, I don’t know, projecting or something.”
“You’re welcome in our pack,” Derek whispered and there was a smile on his face. “We… have been growing closer to you. I’d like, but… I thought perhaps it was us, our wolves, and I wasn’t sure if you would feel the same. But if you want to be a part of our pack, you’re welcome.”
Stiles stared at the wolf and then smiled, bright and big. “Yeah. Yeah, I’d… I’d like that.”
He could have a place with them. He could have a pack. Warmth settled in his chest where new pack-bonds were forming. Still smiling, he rubbed at his chest and looked at the Alphas – his Alphas. He bit his lip. Having feelings for his Alphas was probably an even dumber idea than having feelings for his happily married mechanics, huh? Well, that was sober Stiles’ problem.
/break\
Stiles being part of their pack complicated things. It also changed the by Peter suggested timeline. Because even after Roscoe was all done, Stiles wouldn’t get to just walk away from them if he rejected them now. Well, he could. But leaving a pack was painful, even for a human.
“Stop glowering, love. It will give you wrinkles,” Peter complained, pressing a kiss to Derek’s cheek. “It’ll be fine. We’re all grown adults, surely even if he has no interest in us romantically, we can all coexist in the pack. He… You smelled him, on the roof, when he asked about being pack, and when he was trying to backtrack because he thought we may not want him? That stench of anxiety and fear of rejection. At the very least, he does love this pack. That would be enough.”
Derek grunted his agreement at that, his eyes wandering over to Stiles, who was sitting in the living room, playing with Eli and Kira. It would be fine. It would be more than enough. But the thought of rejection still stung. It had been a huge relief to hear that the boy understood Peter and Derek’s relationship, understood that they operated on different parameters than humans.
“We still wait until Roscoe is done,” Derek decided in the end.
Peter’s arms around him tightened. “As you wish, dear.”
“Pas!” Eli yelled loudly. “Look! Stiles is winning! You need to help me win against them!”
“Now hold on, young man, that is cheating!” Stiles gasped. “You can’t just call in your fathers as backup just because you’re losing!”
Derek and Peter shared a smile before they walked over to Eli to sit on either side of their son, facing off against Kira and Stiles. Kira was used to this, so she just smiled, but Stiles looked mock-offended at that, grasping his chest in betrayal. He could be so silly and goofy, Derek should find it annoying, but instead, he just felt his heart melt whenever Stiles would do these things for Eli.
“If you’d like, we can back you up next game night against the pack,” Peter offered generously. “Because Malia bites, Kira cheats and Cora likes to flip the board.”
“I do not cheat,” Kira gasped offended, trying to hide the card she’d sneaked.
“Do too!” Eli pointed a finger at her.
Kira just grinned mischievously. “I could teach you how?”
Eli perked up at that and Derek heaved a sigh. The influences their son was exposed to in this pack… He watched with soft eyes how Stiles and Kira got into an argument about her cheating. Yes, Stiles fit into their pack like he’d always belonged there.
/break\
“Well, then, it was a pleasure to work with you,” Peter smiled, patting Roscoe’s hood.
Her headlights flashed at that and her door opened, smacking Peter on the ass. He was fairly sure it was a sexual thing and he was being molested by a car. Derek thought he was imagining it, but she didn’t do that with anyone else. Cora claimed it was because he was annoying, but Peter knew what a groping smack on the ass felt like, even when it came from a car.
“Roscoe!” Stiles yelped. “You can’t just do that! That’s rude. I am so sorry, Peter.”
“Oh, I like a woman who can take charge,” Peter chuckled, causing Roscoe to blink again.
“I would prefer if the car could keep her doors to herself and off my mate,” Derek grunted.
Peter laughed delighted and wrapped his arms around Derek to pull him into a kiss. “No need to be jealous, dear. You know you can always smack my ass too, if you like.”
“Oh, you can’t just say stuff like that,” Stiles muttered and closed his eyes. “Don’t think about Derek spanking Peter, don’t think about Derek spanking Peter, don’t-”
The chant was definitely not working because Stiles smelled honey-sweet with arousal. Peter and Derek turned to look at the Spark and Peter was more than ready to devour him whole. Take him upstairs into their den and let him see and participate however he’d like.
“...Did I say that out loud?” Stiles asked, looking a little mortified. “Inside thoughts.”
He closed his eyes tightly and groaned. Both wolves just chuckled at their chaotic, beautiful Spark. Roscoe flashed her lights and then her door opened, harder and more sudden than before. Not to smack Stiles, but to fully shove him forward, so the boy was stumbling into Derek and Peter’s arms. The wolves were quick to catch him and then Roscoe’s radio turned on.
“Cause I may be bad, but I’m perfectly good at it, sex in the air, I don’t care, I love the smell of it,” Rihanna was singing. “Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me.”
“Roscoe!” Stiles yelped, face unbelievably red. “Bad car! Very bad car! Stop that!”
“My, darling,” Peter smiled and grasped Stiles’ chin. “Whatever is your familiar trying to tell us?”
Stiles groaned and covered his face. “That I haven’t gotten laid in far too long and also that she is too nosy and needs to keep her doors out of other people’s business.”
Roscoe’s engine whirred in protest and the radio channel changed to Avicii. “I don’t know just how it happened, I let down my guard. Swore I’d never fall in love again, but I fell hard. Guess I should have seen it coming caught me by surprise.”
Stiles’ eyes widened and the color drained from his face. The playful flustered state was replaced by genuine anger and upset as he tried to push away from Peter and Derek, an unpleasant stench of humiliation and embarrassment rolling off of him in waves. Peter frowned and grasped Stiles’ hip.
“Hold on there, sweetheart,” Peter murmured softly. “What’s Roscoe trying to tell us here?”
“I think she is being plenty direct,” Stiles bit out, glaring viciously at her.
Roscoe honked her horn loudly in protest and then started playing a very out of context line, “It takes three, to make a marriage work,” before cutting off again.
Peter barked out a laugh at that and turned to look at Derek. It appeared that Roscoe had very much picked up on Peter and Derek’s interest in Stiles. Perhaps they shouldn’t have discussed it in front of a sentient car as often as they did. Derek blinked at him, looking a little lost, before he wrapped a determined arm around Stiles, caging the Spark in between the two wolves.
“Your car is a very clever girl,” Peter smiled. “I believe she takes after you there.”
“...What?” Stiles frowned, looking warily between them.
“As your car just suggested, perhaps it takes three to make a happy marriage?” Peter stepped closer to Stiles. “Derek and I have been thinking about that a lot lately. About you a lot lately.”
“You don’t…” Stiles wavered a little. “You don’t get to make fun of me for this. I can’t take that.”
Roscoe made a protesting sound and turned on her radio again to let Keiynan Lonsdale sing. “If you want to kiss the boy then you better kiss the boy right now. Give into love. Give into love.”
“Well, if the lady insists,” Peter shot her a smile before pulling Stiles in, pausing with barely a hair’s breadth between their lips. “I’m going to kiss you now, sweetheart, because I love you. Okay?”
Stiles stared wide-eyed at him before he nodded slowly. Peter kissed him, soft and gentle, to bring across how much he cared for the boy. And when they parted, he very gently pushed Stiles toward Derek, so his husband could get a kiss of his own. He turned to smile at Roscoe. Perhaps he should have conspired with the car sooner. She flashed her lights at them, clearly pleased.
