Chapter Text
"Uhh, can I get two fruffle wraps, two Rick-specials, one Morty meal a large coke and uhh… Morty, what did Jerry want?", Rick asked. They were at the cash register of MortDonald's, an inter-dimensional fast food chain ran by Mortys. It was odd to stand there and see a bunch of other versions of himself and Rick running around the place.
"He wanted a salad", Morty sounded distracted, looking around the place.
"A salad? Fuck no, I'm the one paying, he's getting a burger and will be happy about it. Give me, err, give me also two large fries and some Szechuan sauce."
"We're fresh out", another Rick that was taking their order answered.
"W-what what do you mean 'you're fresh out'? Don't lie to me, you son of a bitch."
"I said we're. fresh. out.", the Rick at the register repeated, his arms crossed as he made sure to put a pause after every word.
"Oh, you little.. Morty!", Morty turned towards Rick at the sound of his voice, "Morty, go play in the playground or something, while I explain to this idiot why he's wrong."
Morty rolled his eyes at Rick starting yet another useless fight, but he decided to take the advice and walk away before he could get caught in the crossfire. He rushed over to the entrance to the play area for Mortys and away from the steadily rasing voices of both Ricks. Treading through the foam obstacles Morty noticed a lot of different version of himself playing around, not only humans, but also a lizard Morty, aquatic Morty, ninja Morty, even one that just had a TV for a head, but one version especially caught his attention — a Morty that was playing by their own in the corner with long curly hair covering their back. Morty decided to walk over to say hi.
"H-hey, I-I'm Morty C-137, w-what are you doing?" Morty cringed at himself, how do you even introduce yourself to another version of yourself? Hi, I'm Morty and you are too Morty, this whole place is Morty, but I am new Morty. That's just weird. Still, the long haired Morty turned around to face him.
"Oh, hi!", the stranger smiled brightly at him.
"Woah", Morty was surprised by what he saw, "You're a girl!", he pointed out, very intelligently.
Girl Morty seemed a bit embarrassed by his reaction, "Oh… y-yeah, I am."
Morty realised that the way he reacted was probably not the best. "S-sorry, it's just that I-I-I didn't even know there were girl Mortys! I've never seen one before"
"Geez, thanks", girl Morty crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, "I've seen a magnitude of boy Morticias though."
"Sorry, I didn't phrase it the best", Morty blushed red in embarrassment, "Is that your name? Morticia?"
Morticia let out a sigh and let her arms fall to her sides, "Yeah, from dimension F-3M413."
"Cool!" Aaand Morty made it awkward again. "Sooo, how-how is it being a girl?" Not redeeming yourself Morty, not at all, you social disaster.
"It's… normal. How is it being a boy?", Morticia asked curiously.
"Normal? I probably take less time on my hair than yo do though", Morty tried to joke and Morticia laughed.
"Probably, the curls are always such a pain in the ass", she rolled her eyes again, as she brought her hair over her shoulder to comb through them with her fingers, "Luckily, I got some alien gel that de-tangles them almost immediately. Useful stuff, you know?"
Morty's hand unconsciously raised to comb through the hair as well. "Amazing… I just gave up on mine to be honest, cutting them short is easier", he chuckled awkwardly.
"It doesn't look that bad, but if you'd actually try it would probably look much better", Morticia shrugged and pushed her hair back behind her.
"I'd have to ask Summer about help though and she'd probably make fun of me", Morty slumped at the idea.
"Summer?", Morticia raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, my sister?"
"Oh!", there was a sudden recognition on her face, "I have a brother, August."
"Is everyone in your dimension gender-bent? What's your Rick's name?" Morty was surprised there was an entire gender-bent dimension, for some reason he assumed Morticia would be the only one. But again, there's an infinite amount of dimensions, so why should he be surprised.
"My grandma's Rita. Speaking of", Morticia looked down at her watch that was pulsing red and pressed a button, "she's calling me right now, I have to go."
"O-oh, that's cool, my Rick is probably done arguing with the cashier anyway, should probably head back too", Morty smiled. They both made their way towards a slide that was an exit from the play area and slid down. At the bottom Morty noticed a female Rick waiting, no doubt Rita.
"I have to go, bye! C-137 was it?", Morticia asked.
Morty nodded in confirmation, "Yeah, but now we're in a different dimension. I think we're at C-133 now? They say parmesan weird."
Morticia chuckled. "See you around C-137!", she yelled as she ran over to her grandma. Morty waved her goodbye and went back to find his Rick, still fuming at the register.
"Rick?", Morty tugged at Rick's lab coat to get his attention, "We should go, it's been so long the rest of our food is already done." Morty pointed at the bag laying on the counter with the attached ticket saying 'C-137'.
Rick glared at the equally furious Rick operating the register, "You've been saved by the fucking bell, pal", Rick grabbed the bag with one hand, the other grabbing Morty by the wrist to drag him along, "C-come on, Morty, let's get out of here."
Morty couldn't fall asleep that night. He couldn't stop thinking about meeting Morticia and he couldn't place why it kept playing in his mind. There wasn't anything remarkable about it, they didn't talk about anything deep or important, it wasn't even the first time Morty encountered another version of himself before. It was a first time he encountered a version of himself that was the opposite gender.
Morty got up from his bed and headed to the bathroom, where he took a long look at himself in the mirror. Maybe he should do something about his hair?
