Summary
The dust has finally settled on Taylor and Matty's respective marriages. The feverish gossip and pitchforks have been put away (mostly), and the scathing, Matty-directed songs from The Tortured Poets Department are a distant memory. Newly married to Gabbriette, Matty can almost convince himself he's happy.
Then Phoebe Bridgers writes to invite him and the band to a month-long songwriting retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. They're said to be joining an impressive list of guests from across the music industry. It's an enormous opportunity, to be in the room with innovators and music giants, and it doesn't take long before The 1975 is booking their tickets, packing their bags, and googling the weather in this strange part of the Appalachias.
Too late, Matty learns that Taylor and Travis will also be there. Being in the same room with Taylor again, after everything, goes about as well as he'd expected. And by that he means it's a cataclysmic shitshow.
