Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The Chief of Police was - rather rudely - broken away from his focus on his usual paperwork by the door to his office. When he lifted his head to snap at whoever decided to enter without knocking or announcing themselves, he was met with the sight of a child. A child he knew all too well. “It's been twenty seven years already, hm?” The child smiles, or more so smirks, waltzing into the office space and hopping onto the Chief's table, who merely moved over his papers. “Well, you definitely look it, gramps. Are you sure it's only been twenty seven years?” They teased, mischief reflecting in their eyes. The Chief sighed, ignoring the obvious insult. “This is going to be a long cycle.” He muttered, only half joking. The child's face fell to a more contemplative expression. “I agree, for once. I get the strange feeling this one won't pass on like the others."
