Work Text:
Paper awakens to something gently shaking his shoulder. He opened his eyes slowly, his mind and body overwhelmed by exhaustion, as he sowly began to register what was going on.
“Paper, it’s time to get up.”
He immediately recognised the voice speaking as OJ’s. It was commonplace for Paper’s best friend to get up before him - considering how much of a workaholic he is - but usually he left Paper to rest while he got on with the day.
“Mmmm… let me sleeeep…” Paper groaned. “What time is it~?”
“It’s 8:23. Come on, there’s things to be done. Up.”
That was later than when Paper usually got up, but he was feeling lazy today. Whatever OJ wanted him to do could wait.
“Noooo, I’m.. tired. ”
“I’ll carry you if I have to.”
“No… five more minutes.”
Paper didn’t mind the idea of being carried, especially by OJ, but that still required him getting out of bed, which he didn’t want to do. So, he shut his eyes, grabbed the pillow he was cuddling the night before, and rolled onto his side, facing away from OJ, which seemed to shut him up.
The only thing was, the pillow he grabbed didn’t feel like a pillow. It was oddly smooth and cylindrical. It was also cold to the touch, but quickly getting warmer, much faster than his body heat could possibly do so on his own. He slowly opened his eyes, very confused as to what was going on, and-
Oh frick he had grabbed OJ and was cuddling with him frickfrickfrickfrick-
Paper quickly threw OJ off him, sitting up in his bed. OJ sat up and stared at him, visibly flustered. Paper could only imagine how red his own face was.
The two of them just… stared at each other for a while, an uncomfortable silence settling around them.
Then they both started laughing hysterically, unable to respond in any other way.
“I meant to grab a pillow, not you!” Paper laughed. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, I thought so!” OJ replied with a goofy grin. “It’s fine, no big deal.”
The laughter eventually died down, and they were once again left in slightly awkward silence.
“...so are you ready to get up now?” OJ asked with a small, barely noticeable smirk.
Paper rolled his eyes, sighing dramatically. He supposed the situation had woken him up. Additionally, he still felt really awkward about what happened and desperately wanted to do literally anything else. But OJ didn’t need to know that.
“Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.”
They both proceeded to get up and walk out of their room. Paper prayed that OJ wouldn’t mention this incident ever again, or he might die from embarrassment.
