Lacey sat, and sewed. She was grateful to Jeyne the seamstress for teaching her how to make clothing both wearable and beautiful. It was a resource other than her body, a valuable one. There was a certain amusement in it and her name, as well. She did work with lace, sometimes.
She had not given up her other profession, not entirely, but it was pleasant to be able to refuse, when she wished. She would no longer be desperate enough to let cruel men do as they wished. Not as she had been. Jeyne had saved her, by teaching her.
