Summary:

At midnight on Halloween, Jisung and his six roommates venture into the woods hoping to get the spook of a lifetime. Jisung was strictly against it, feeling like it was a bad idea. And he was right. Crossing paths with an injured vampire definitely got him spooked. Coming into the woods at night was Jisung’s first mistake, saving that said injured vampire was his second.

It only ended with the vampire becoming overly obsessed with Jisung.

Chapter Text

“Guys, I don’t like this.” Jisung said as he and his friend group walked through the dark woods at midnight. It was now October 31st, the spookiest night of the year.

The seven of them live together in a very spacious apartment, pairs sharing a room. Jisung is the only one that doesn’t share, but it’s only because he got the smallest room. He threw on a hoodie and sweatpants when the group said they wanted to go into the city to grab something at the convenience store.

They indeed did not go into the city, nor the convenience store. He got dragged to the woods by all of them. Well, not all of them. Felix and Jeongin weren’t too keen about this either.

The only ones eager were Changbin, Minho, and Seungmin. Chan did not mind and just led them on like the leader and oldest he is.

They went into the woods to do what? Jisung did not really know. They said something about reaching scare potential on Halloween. Whatever that meant. Wasn’t it better to do this on the night of Halloween, not the start?

Seungmin rolled his eyes. “You love horror movies, yet walking into the woods scares you?”

Jisung huffed. “At least I know it’s fake. Or most of the time anyway. It’s not like I want to live through one.”

A crow passed by, cawking suddenly which made Jisung stumble a few steps in fright. Changbin laughed at that, which made Jisung’s face grow red. Not that it could really be seen.

There was no light, besides the flashlights they were using from their phones. Jisung was walking behind everyone, Felix and Jeongin were walking right in front of him with an arm interlocked.

The fright they held was demonstrated through their demeanor. Seungmin and Minho were walking on the sides, Changbin in between them. Chan was in the front, obviously.

“Are we looking for something?” Felix decided to ask. The group of seven’s footsteps were loud as they crunched on fallen leaves and sticks.

“We’re looking for something that will scare us. Then, we’ll bounce.” Minho explained, waving his flashlights at trees, searching.

“This is so dumb.” Jeongin argued, allowing Felix to squeeze his arm when he thought he saw some shadow with his phone flashlight. Turned out to just be Jisung behind them. “You know people die from doing crap like this.”

“Don’t be such a downer, Jeongin.” Changbin whined, turning his body slightly to the youngest behind him. “It’s just for fun.”

“I can barely watch the horror movies Jisung puts on sometimes, how do you expect this to be fun?” Felix asked, making Changbin smirk before turning back around.

“You’ll be fine, Lix. I’ve been hitting the gym every day, I’ll protect everyone.”

That did not reassure Felix.

“Guys, focus.” Chan said, still leading on. “The sooner we can find something, the sooner I can go to sleep.”

Jisung heard a crunch behind him that brought him to a halt. The other’s did not seem to notice, and they walked on. There was no one behind Jisung, so why on earth where there a crunch?!

It was probably a raccoon or a squirrel or whatever nocturnal animal. It’s fine, Jisung tried to tell himself. It wasn’t until he heard a noise of pain that sounded far too human (or not quite) to be an animal.

Jisung turned around, shining his phone flashlight as he ventured into the deep woods to the side. He followed the noise until he came across a figure lying down.

Jisung almost jumped when he saw it— or him. Jisung could not believe it. A vampire. An actual vampire. He never thought he would ever come across one. There were plenty of hunters that he would see all around town, but never of what they actually hunt.

As Jisung carefully got closer—questioning what he’s even doing at the same time—he saw the vampire, really saw him.

He looked beautiful. His skin was a pale white, wearing a button down black shirt that held a rhinestone design on both shoulders as well as baggy dress pants. His amber eyes were staring up at him with suffering and hate, at the sight of a possible hunter.

Yet, the vampire couldn’t attack as he had a wooden stake lodged in his left leg. Vampires were dangerous, or at least that’s what Jisung heard. Vampires could kill humans easily, that’s why hunters trained so profusely.

Jisung did not know why he felt inclined to … help this creature. This mythical person who could suck the blood out of him in seconds. Jisung guessed it was the amount of pain and pleading in the vampires eyes. The vampire did not speak.

Jisung found himself grabbing the wooden stake that was keeping the vampire paralyzed in ache and pulled it out. The vampire winced but still could not move. The damage was still  done and Jisung realized the vampire was on the verge of death. Even though he was technically already dead.

Fuck it.

Jisung ripped off the bandage on his palm, the wound fresh and blood still visible. He accidentally sliced his palm with a kitchen knife earlier when he was preparing food for himself. He wasn’t paying attention and the blade slipped on his hand, causing a deep cut.

Jisung held the flashlight with his other hand and took a sharp intake of breath as he dripped some of the blood to the vampires lips. When the blood made contact with the vampires mouth, his eyes widened.

When Jisung finished dripping the remaining blood on his palm, he wrapped the bandage back on and waited. Waited for a sign of life from the vampire, which is quite comical.

Jisung watched as the vampire’s tongue licked the remaining blood off his lips and then immediately bolted up—strength fully intact—and hoisted Jisung’s kneeling figure off the ground next to him to against the tree. The vampire pinned him down which made Jisung swallow.

Why the hell did he help a vampire again? Was it the empathy in Jisung that would get him killed?

Jisung had squeezed his eyes shut, squirming in the tight hold of the vampire and readying himself to get eaten or turned or anything. When Jisung did not feel a bite come to his neck or any of his bones breaking, he hesitantly opened his eyes and saw the vampire staring at him curiously with those amber eyes.

Jisung gulped but did not dare say anything.

“What is your name, human?” The vampire asked, which took Jisung aback. His name?

“…Jisung.” He mumbled out, and the vampire tilted his head.

“Very beautiful. I am Hwang Hyunjin.” The vampire announced, and Jisung could do nothing but nod. Also, beautiful? Why was the vampire complimenting him?! “Why did you save me?”

Jisung blinked. He… did not really know the answer to that himself. He found something to say in the end, not wanting to upset the vampire, especially if he was impatient. “You were in pain, I could not just let you suffer.”

The vampire’s sharp gaze softened but the grip did not. Not yet. “And you’re not a hunter?”

“No! No, I’m not!” Jisung quickly exclaimed, before the vampire could be convinced otherwise. The grip loosened, then the vampire—Hyunjin stopped pinning him against the tree all together.

Hyunjin did not withdraw his hands as he embraced Jisung in a back hug. Jisung froze like a deer in headlights, utterly confused and nervous at the vampire’s grip and intention. “You’re mine now, Jisung.” Hyunjin whispered in Jisung’s ear and at that moment, the others approached them—six flashlights shining bright on the pair.

“Jisung!” Chan shouted, the six members stopping abruptly when they came upon the sight on the vampire. The six of them stopped in their tracks, eyes widened as Hyunjin hissed at them, his fangs visible.

Hyunjin’s grip of the back hug became stronger as if someone were trying to pry Jisung away—his hands on Jisung’s chest becoming tighter. Hyunjin hissed again, making sure his point got across. “Mine.

Jisung tried to get away from Hyunjin’s back hug, but found it pointless. He hesitated before speaking. “Hyunjin… these are my friends, it’s okay. They’re not hunters either.”

The six members looked at Jisung before their gazes drifted back to Hyunjin who closed his mouth, fangs no longer out and threatening. His grip on Jisung’s chest loosened and Jisung was able to wiggle out of the hug.

As soon as Jisung stepped away, a right hand shot into his left, Hyunjin clamping his hand in an iron grip with Jisung’s. The pair were now holding hands, Hyunjin squeezing tight ensuring Jisung could not get away from him.

Jisung found this ordeal rather weird. Why was this vampire not letting go of him and yet not hurting him either?

“Jisung, what happened? Who is this?” Chan questioned, eyes flickering toward Hyunjin who stared intensely at the group.

“Uh. I heard something. Someone in pain. So, I came to help them.” Jisung explained, the members furrowing their brows and tilting their heads. “It turned out to be a vampire and uh yeah, I helped him. This is Hyunjin.” Jisung gestured with his free right hand to the vampire standing next to him.

“Han Jisung, you idiot!” Seungmin shouted at Jisung. That caused Hyunjin to open his mouth—his fangs out and hissing at them again, taking a few steps forward with Jisung’s hand still in his. Felix gasped and Jeongin stumbled back a couple steps.

Seungmin stared with widened eyes, while the 3 eldest friends of the group stepped in front of the second youngest.

Jisung squeezed Hyunjin’s hand back, trying to keep the vampire from charging at Seungmin. Jisung feared the vampire would turn and bite or hurt him from the squeeze, but Hyunjin did not even look at him.

Hyunjin did stand back in place from Jisung pulling at his hand but kept glaring at Seungmin. “Do not talk to him like that.”

“Hyunjin, stop. He’s my friend, it’s fine.” Jisung told him, but the vampire’s glare still hinted in his face. He did close his mouth though to the everyone’s relief. ”Seungmin, what do you mean though?”

“What I mean is that when a human saves a vampire, they become obsessed with you.” Jisung’s eyebrows shot up. ”Don’t tell me you let him have some of your blood too?”

Jisung blinked.

Silence.

And then.

“Of course I let him have some of my blood! How do you think he’s still alive?!” Jisung bit out and Hyunjin started touching and playing with Jisung’s dark blue hair.  Jisung seriously wanted to swat the hand away but chose life. He was too distracted by the thought that a vampire was now obsessed with him to really focus on Hyunjin playing with his hair anyway.

“Well, vampires aren’t technically alive.” Chan corrected and Changbin rolled his eyes.

“Hyung, respectfully, shut up.” Changbin said, which caused Chan to shove him back. Changbin took a few steps back from that.

“How the hell do you even know about all this vampire stuff, Seungmin?” Minho turned to ask him.

Seungmin shrugged. “Our city is crawling with hunters, of course I’m going to want to read the articles about what they’re hunting.”

Hyunjin was too focused on Jisung’s hair to hiss at the word hunter. Jisung sighed. “So, what does this mean?”

Seungmin’s expression grew worried. “It means a lot. He wants to be with you like all the time, if others try to threaten or hurt you he’s ready to attack and kill them. Most importantly, if you die then he does too and vise versa.”

Jisung’s breath hitched. The other five froze at Seungmin’s words. “Wha— what do you mean— how? That doesn’t make any sense.”

“You shared your blood with him, Jisung. You’re connected now.”

Jisung shook his head frantically, his face going through a storm of emotions. Anger, fear, grief, unacceptable, uncertainty. “No, no, you’re lying!” Jisung shouted which caused Hyunjin to snap out of his daze in Jisung’s blue hair, awareness flooding back. “That doesn’t even make any sense! Sharing blood from my wound means nothing, I’m not connected to him!”

The members frowned, deeply.

“He’s right, Jisung.” Hyunjin spoke, voice soft. The softest the members have heard him spoke from the few words he’s said with them around.

Jisung still could not believe it. No. This could not be happening. And their town was crawling with fucking hunters that can kill vampires at any moment. Jisung was desperately trying to pull away from the vampire, but the vampire held on with ease.

This was helpless. “Seungmin, please. Tell me there’s a way to reverse this.”

Seungmin took a breath. “You can only reverse the connection, not the obsession. The only way is if you turn. That’s it.”

Oh. Fucking amazing.

An even easier death sentence.

Jisung sighed. He wanted to scream. Or cry. Or both, actually. “Let’s just go home.”

The members exchanged looks of worry and sorrow before turning and leading the way. Jisung and Hyunjin following behind them with interlocked fingers.

When the eight of them got back to the apartment, they were uncertain about the vampire coming as well but it was not like there was anything they could do. The only way the vampire would leave is if Jisung did too, Jisung just wanted to jump in his bed and bury his head in his pillow.

Since it was so late, when they left the woods and went to the nearby parking lot, they were able to get into the truck without detection. Thankfully no hunters or other people for that matter were around to see the seven of them smuggle a whole vampire back to their apartment. The ride back was quiet.

Hyunjin had sat next to Jisung in the truck, their hands never once separating. Not even when they got back to the apartment. Jisung went straight for his room, dragging Hyunjin behind him, not allowing the members to say anything else to him.

He was just so tired. Once the pair entered Jisung’s room, Hyunjin still did not let go, making Jisung sigh. “Hyunjin, please. I’m not going anywhere, this is my room and I just want to sleep. You can let go.”

Hyunjin hesitated but finally let go. Jisung let out a breath of relief, stretching his hand before collapsing in his bed. Not even bothering to change. What he was wearing was comfortable anyway.

Hyunjin was inspecting Jisung’s room before sitting next to him on his bed. The bed was big enough to fit two people, thankfully, because if this bed was a single Jisung knew this vampire would be up in his personal space. More than he already is. Jisung was lying face down in his bed, his face buried in a pillow. He was ready to go to sleep before he felt Hyunjin start playing with his hair again. There must have been something so interesting about the dark shade of blue.

Jisung groaned in frustration, turning his body to face Hyunjin, interrupting the hair touching. “Can you not? How am I supposed to sleep when you’re touching my hair?”

The vampire’s face flashed with hurt before leaning close to Jisung’s face. Jisung’s face grew surprised at the sudden proximity, feeling Hyunjin’s breath. “You’re mine, Jisung, I can do whatever I want.”

Jisung instantly bolted up into a sitting position on the bed. Immediate nope. “Yeah so, I know you’re a vampire, but that’s not how we do things here actually. I don’t care if we’re connected or whatever crap that is, you can’t just do anything you want.”

Hyunjin’s amber eyes stared intently at Jisung, causing the human to swallow. “It’s not crap. And we’ll see.”

“No.“ Jisung said and just ran a hand down his face. “Whatever, I’m too tired to go over this right now. One thing I need to make sure is you won’t attack or drink blood from my friends. Promise me.”

Hyunjin tilted his head. “I’ll attack them if they try to hurt you.”

Jisung pursued his lips. “Except they won’t because they’re my friends. Hyunjin, promise me.”

“I promise.” Hyunjin vowed, which made Jisung nod. ”Anyway, I’m a vegetarian—or at least in human blood. I don’t really feed except for an occasional rat once in a while.”

Despite the disgust Jisung felt about the rat, he nodded again. “Okay, good to know. I’m going to go to sleep now. Do you sleep?”

Hyunjin shook his head. “Not really. More so go in a trance. I only do it sometimes, especially during the day.”

So, Hyunjin’s going to be up while he sleeps. Perfect.

“Right. Just… don’t touch my hair or my stuff.” Jisung told him and Hyunjin’s expression screamed no promises. Jisung sighed yet again before falling back into a lying position and shutting his eyes closed. He could feel the vampires gaze on him but he did not care anymore. He was so tired.

The next morning Jisung opened his eyes to be met with Hyunjin’s face close to his, watching him. Jisung yelped and fell off the bed. Jisung groaned but before he could even process being on the floor, strong arms picked him up and he was held bridal style.

Jisung blinked before his gaze snapped to Hyunjin’s who was staring at him worriedly. Geez, did Hyunjin think he was that fragile and going to break? He fell off a bed, not a skyscraper.

The tiredness snapped out of Jisung and finally processed the arms holding his back and under his knees. “Hyunjin, I’m fine. Put me down.”

Hyunjin was not entirely convinced and Jisung huffed. “Humans are so delicate, I need to make sure myself.” And Hyunjin started inspecting Jisung, eyes darting everywhere in his frame.

Jisung attempted to push away from the vampire but Hyunjin did not relent. The vampire finally put him down after five minutes. He deemed Jisung to be all right.

“Finally.” Jisung grumbled and opened the door to his closet, searching for clothes with the vampire watching behind him. While Jisung was picking out his clothes for work, he was suddenly struck with realization.

How was he supposed to go to work when Hyunjin won’t leave his side? Crap. Maybe Hyunjin would consider doing his trance sleeping stuff since it was daytime now and stay here? Jisung hoped so.

Jisung had two jobs. He was a producer and produced music with Chan and Changbin as well as a barista in a local coffee shop. His job as a barista was part time and it’s the job he needs to head to now.

Working on Halloween. Only during the day though, so that was a plus. The friend group was planning on watching a horror movie tonight. Felix and Jeongin had not totally been on board but they gave in.

Jisung grabbed his uniform and headed to the bathroom connected to his bedroom, Hyunjin following behind him. When Jisung attempted to shut the door after him, Hyunjin placed his palm on the wood and stopped it from closing any more. Jisung looked taken aback and saw the upset and somewhat angry expression on the vampire’s face.

“I need privacy to use the bathroom.” Jisung explained. ”I’ll be right behind this door.”

Hyunjin shook his head, hand on the door that’s keeping it open not wavering. “No. I don’t like doors. Let me in there with you. I need to see your face.”

Oh, no. If Hyunjin can’t even handle a door separating them, Jisung knew he wasn’t going to be eager or easily convinced to stay at the apartment while Jisung worked.

“Hyunjin, no. I can’t go anywhere, I’ll be out in just a moment. I need to get ready for work.” Hyunjin did not move, Jisung sighed in frustration. He’s been doing that a lot lately.

Jisung threw his clothes on the counter in the bathroom and went back into his room, rummaging through the drawer of his desk until he found a picture. Hyunjin watched him carefully before Jisung shoved the picture in his hand.

It was a picture of Jisung from a few weeks ago, smiling at some kind of music event. The members took it of him on a camera that prints photos after they’re taken. His cheeks looked like a squirrel in the photo. The vampire smiled at it, fangs now visible.

It gave Jisung chills. It was easy to say Hyunjin was a vampire, but to physically see it is still so interesting. The eyes give the subtle reminder as well.

“Now, stare at that photo while I shower and get ready. You can stay outside the door, I don’t care. I just need privacy.” Jisung said, making the vampire reluctantly move his hand away. Jisung passed him into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

Jisung could not believe this situation. They should’ve never gone into the woods. He turned on the water and took off his clothes. He quickly cleaned himself up before turning off the shower, drying off and changing into his uniform. His uniform was plain clothing, apron, and hat.

His apron had a name tag, his name in a small bulky font. He dried and brushed his blue hair before putting on his cap. He also quickly replaced the bandage of his hand with a new one. It would hopefully heal in a couple days but it didn’t really hurt anymore.

Jisung inhaled before opening the door. He was of course met with Hyunjin. Hyunjin’s gaze snapped from the picture to him as soon as the door opened.

Jisung moved past him again, old clothes and used towel in hand, making way to the hamper in the corner of his room. “Where are we going?” Jisung practically froze at Hyunjin’s question.

We?

Jisung placed the clothes in the hamper. “I’m going to work. I figured you can stay here and rest in your trance while I’m working. My job’s pretty boring to watch.” When Jisung turned around, Hyunjin was right in front of him. Jisung had not even heard any footsteps, uh???? His expression was dark.

“I don’t want what’s mine to wander off without me.” Hyunjin argued, voice low and sharp.

Jisung huffed, putting his hands on his head. “What do you want, Hyunjin? I’ll give you something tonight if you just stay here while I go to work. It’s only going to be four hours and I’m ten minutes away.”

“If I’m to be without my human for four whole hours, I think I’m deserving of a passionate kiss when he returns.”

Jisung gaped, face going pale. “No, no way!”

The vampire pouted. “Then, I have no choice but to accompany you.”

Jisung’s eye twitched. “Fine. We’ll kiss.” Whatever, sure. Kissing didn’t really matter to Jisung. He’s done it before. With that Jisung opened the door to exit the room, Hyunjin following. This vampire was going to watch him leave all the way through the front door.

Jisung quickly made his way to the front of the apartment, slipping on his converse before leaving, shutting the door behind him and locking it with the key.

A sigh of relief. His first freedom without the vampire. The bathroom did not really count since Hyunjin was literally right outside the door. Was Jisung really going to have to live like this for the rest of his life?

How was he going to find a girlfriend or boyfriend if Hyunjin was constantly over his shoulder? What if a hunter finds out about Hyunjin? Will Jisung really make it to an old age? This town, city, whatever, was crawling with hunters.

This whole situation made Jisung want to pull his hair out.

Notes:

Does Jisung having blue hair have any effect on the story? Nope. I just love bluesung so much and I really wish he would bring that color back

I will be doing weekly updates, I might do two updates in a week sometimes as well.

I’m almost done writing this story in my notes and know the direction I want to go in but not 100% certain how many chapters there will be so I put an estimated amount.
