Chapter Text
Izuku Midoriya was having a perfectly normal morning.
At least, he thought he was.
He walked into the classroom with his backpack hanging off one shoulder, smiling when he spotted Ochaco Uraraka and Shoto Todoroki already sitting at their desks.
“Good morning, Uraraka-san! Todoroki-kun!”
“Morning, Deku!” Ochaco greeted cheerfully.
“Good morning, Midoriya,” Shoto said.
Izuku smiled and sat down.
Then a familiar voice came from behind him.
“Oi, Deku.”
Izuku turned around immediately.
“Kacchan!”
Katsuki Bakugou stood there with his arms crossed, staring at him.
“You’re in my seat.”
Izuku blinked.
He looked down.
He was, in fact, sitting in Bakugou’s seat.
“Oh! Sorry!”
Izuku immediately stood up.
Bakugou grunted and dropped into the chair.
“You’re always doing that.”
“I know, I know. Sorry, Kacchan.”
Bakugou rolled his eyes.
“Idiot.”
Izuku smiled.
“Good morning to you too.”
Ochaco watched the exchange from her desk.
She glanced at Shoto.
Shoto glanced back.
Neither said anything.
Izuku walked over to Ochaco.
“Are you ready for today’s training?”
“Yep! Though I’m still exhausted from yesterday.”
“I know what you mean. Kacchan really went all out.”
Bakugou, who was sitting behind them, immediately spoke up.
“Obviously.”
Izuku turned around.
“You were amazing yesterday, Kacchan!”
Bakugou’s expression softened for approximately half a second.
“Yeah. I know.”
Izuku laughed.
Ochaco raised an eyebrow.
Shoto stared at Bakugou.
Bakugou noticed.
“What are you looking at, Half-and-Half?”
“Nothing.”
“Then stop staring.”
Shoto looked away.
Ochaco leaned closer to Izuku.
“Deku?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course!”
“Are you and Bakugou…”
She hesitated.
Izuku tilted his head.
“Yeah?”
“Never mind.”
Izuku smiled.
“Okay!”
Ochaco stared at him.
Shoto looked between the two of them.
Bakugou suddenly stood up.
“Deku.”
Izuku turned.
“Yeah, Kacchan?”
“Come here.”
“Okay!”
Izuku walked over.
Bakugou reached out, grabbed the strap of Izuku’s backpack, and pulled him closer.
“You forgot this.”
He held up Izuku’s water bottle.
Izuku blinked.
“Oh! Thanks, Kacchan!”
“Seriously. You’d forget your own head if it wasn’t attached.”
Izuku laughed.
“I’d probably notice eventually.”
“No, you wouldn’t.”
“I would!”
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would!”
Bakugou smirked.
“Prove it.”
Izuku paused.
“…How?”
“Exactly.”
Ochaco covered her mouth.
Shoto looked genuinely confused.
Izuku took his water bottle back.
“Thanks anyway, Kacchan.”
Bakugou shrugged.
“Whatever.”
Izuku returned to his desk.
Ochaco immediately leaned toward Shoto again.
“They’re definitely something.”
Shoto nodded.
“Agreed.”
Izuku looked over.
“What are you two talking about?”
“Nothing!” Ochaco said quickly.
Shoto nodded.
“Nothing.”
Izuku smiled.
“Okay!”
Bakugou stared at the three of them.
“What the hell are you idiots whispering about?”
“Nothing,” Shoto repeated.
Bakugou narrowed his eyes.
“Right.”
Izuku looked at his friends.
He couldn’t understand why everyone was acting so strange.
To him, everything was normal.
He and Kacchan had always been close.
Kacchan looked out for him.
They trained together.
They ate lunch together sometimes.
They walked home together.
Kacchan occasionally stole his food.
Izuku occasionally borrowed Kacchan’s things.
They argued constantly.
They knew each other’s habits.
They were best friends.
It was simple.
At least, it was simple to Izuku.
Bakugou, meanwhile, had a completely different understanding of their relationship.
Because as far as he was concerned…
Izuku Midoriya was his boyfriend.
And somehow, Deku was the only person in Class 1-A who hadn’t figured that out yet.
