End Up Like a Dog That's Been Beat Too Much

Summary:

Peter gasps for breath, choking as his kidnappers pull him up for air again. The bathtub is still below him, taunting, really, as he chokes on his own saliva and disgusting bath water.

Now, if he were stronger, which he is, when he hasn't been starved and beaten for three days straight, he would've broken the tight bindings around his wrists and beat these guys criminal asses. Unfortunately for him, he has been starved and beaten for the past three days. Funny how his life works.

Or, Peter gets kidnapped. Queue protective father Tony

Notes:

Work Text:

Peter loves being spiderman, really he does, but he doesn't love the whole literally getting kidnapped aspect of things. Which - really, he should have expected this to happen at some point, considering almost every member of the avengers (yes, he is an avenger, and anyone who denies that is lying.) has been kidnapped or held captive at some point in their career.

For example, Mr. Stark. The whole cave incident was…something. Peter would've been a fairly young child at the time - he’s pretty sure. Tony still has nightmares about it every once and a while, even if he won't admit to Peter's face, the boy can tell. When the man is a little too snappy (which yes, he always is, it's Tony Stark for gods sake.), his hands are shaking just a slight bit more than usual, the bags under his eyes become prominent, you get the general gist.

The only difference here is that Peter isn't in a cave, and instead some shitty, he’s guessing abandoned, warehouse.

That, and the fact that there isn't really…a reason for him to be kidnapped. Sure, there have been a few close calls, villains or criminals with some vendetta against him for getting them locked up, but they’ve never actually succeeded. And, there's also the added fact that he was kidnapped as peter parker, normal civilian kid, and not spiderman, the Awesomest Superhero Ever. so either someone has figured out his whole double life thing, or he’s just…a random victim.

Maybe he’s just in a really unfortunate wrong-place, wrong-time trafficking situation? Which would suck but is probably a little better than dealing with whatever criminals he locked up who want him six feet under. If these are just normal assholes he has a slight chance at escaping without relying on being found.

The door to the warehouse opens, revealing a burly man with his arms crossed and his shoulders hiked up to his ears.

He’s…nervous? Peter thinks? But putting on some confident facade over it. The wife beater tank and crossed arms mixed with skinny jeans isn't doing too much, he fears.

Like, really man? This guy probably has several restraining orders filed against him and at least a few domestic violence charges. And soon to be a kidnapping one, if all goes well on his end.

Which…it probably won't. He's Spiderman. That's the only real explanation needed for his terrible luck.

He would usually find some witty remark about the guy's appearance, or general stature, but you know. Stereotypical kidnapping. He’s gagged.

Basic bitch kidnappers.

“Hello, Peter," the man sneers, strolling up to the chair and looking down on the boy.

Peter nods a hello.

The man looks absolutely flabbergasted for a second, genuinely baffled, before he schools his expression back to his weird-pathetic-confidence-alter-ego thing he has going on.

“You have been a rock in my shoe, you know that?” the guy complains, waving one arm up to gesture.

And no, Peter did not know that, in fact, he doesn't know this guy at all, actually, so if he could please go home that would be great. Aunt May is probably freaking out.

The gut continues.

“We find out that Stark has a little son-” wait what- “-that we could use to get to the avengers, maybe get some money, some goods…”

Nonono goes back to the guy thinking that he is Tony Stark's son. What.

Yeah, sure, he and Tony have a very father-son like relationship, and sure, he kinda sees the man as a father figure- but he isn't his son. At least not biologically or legally, which seems to be what this guy is implying.

“What, didn't think we’d be able to find you, rich boy?”

He…honestly isn't sure if that's a compliment or meant to offend. He isn't rich by any means - but he supposes he definitely could be with how Tony buys him literally everything.

“Well, we did, and now were gonna use that pretty face o’ yours to get some cash,” The man chuckles, and wow - he has mental issues, what the fuck? Absolutely wild thing to say to a teenager-

Peter gets socked in the jaw.

Which wow he was not expecting that, and he can feel blooding pooling in his mouth who he bit his cheek from the unexpected impact, and-

- he might be a little more screwed than he initially thought.

Tony is going to end every crime organization in the state - no, world. Preferably with bombs, guns, painful weapons of any sort really.

Someone kidnapped his child. There’s no fucking way that’s sliding.

He got some ominous call, the typical: “send in money or we kill the kid,” rant, and was promptly hung up on.

And Friday hasn’t been able to track down the phone’s location in the past fifteen minutes, which means these guys know, at least somewhat, know what they're doing. obviously not enough, if they’re kidnapping Tony Stark's kid.

It's infuriating, he’s on the verge of suiting up and shooting up every goddamn crime organization’s base that he has to, if it means getting Peter back.

“I told the kid he should've come over after school today,” Happy mutters under his breath.

Yeah, so did Tony. But peter just had to go out with this “cute boy” he’d been talking to and now hes fucking missing.

He’s never letting Peter go on a date again, because what the hell.

And, yes, he’s friendly neighborhood spiderman, aka The Strongest Guy Ever, but even strong guys admit to being scared sometimes. So yeah- Peter is terrified. His stomach is screaming at him and making him want to keel over every time he’s forced to stand up, everything hurts, his wrist hurts from where one of the kidnappers beat it in as punishment, and he misses his family. A lot.

He misses Mr. Stark, And Aunt May, and Mrs. Potts. He misses home cooked meals around a table with his kinda-second family, he misses Aunt May and Tony teaming up on him in an attempt to force him into a butchered self-care routine, he misses movie nights and falling asleep in a web hammock on the ceiling.

He misses the world. It's beginning to feel like the only thing that exists is the warehouse.

He finally takes in a full breath after all his coughing, tears flowing freely down his face now that they aren't being swept away by the unforgiving water.

The original guy, the one in the wife-beater tshirt, stares down at him from where his bindings are forcing him to remain on his knees

“Sorry it had to come to this, kid. We can't send you back without roughing you up a little, can we?” the guy chuckles, and he can hear a few goons stationed by the door laugh a little at that.

He, on the other hand, thinks that this is entirely unnecessary. Why couldn't they just give him back in one piece? Which yeah, they're villains so obviously not, but still. He's met nice villains before.

He’s cold, and tired, and scared, and soaked to the bone, and shivering and he just wants to go home.

There's a knock on the door. Polite and calculated, nothing like the kidnapper’s barbaric beating on a door when they want to be let in that Peter's become so familiar with.

The wife-beater tshirt guy looks just as confused, strolling towards the door and nodding at one of the goons to open it for him.

In the end, he doesn't have to. The door opens itself, revealing no other than Tony Stark. Ironman.

Tony has never been more rageful in his life, he thinks, as he blasts the head off of a man near the door.

“You took my son,’ he growls to the rest of the room, who all seem somewhat shell-shocked and somewhat petrified.

In the far back of the room is Peter. And fuck, the boy looks horrible. Tony didn't have the highest hopes, considering he was kidnapped, but god. The kid looks like he was just raised from the grave, he’s covered in grime and dirt, his face is bruised to hell and bloody, and his wrist, from the angle that it's at, is probably broken.

But all of that is nothing compared to the pained heartbreaking wheezing whines coming from the boy and tears streaking his dirty face. From the far away look in Peter's eyes he isn't even sure if his son knows he’s making any noise.

It’s safe to say, he makes quick work of the rest of the kidnappers. He almost wishes he could've dragged it out, could've seen the light behind their eyes fade just like the hope in his own had dwindled in the past few days, but he doesn't. His boy doesn't need any added trauma than whatever the hell has already happened here.

Before he knows it, he’s kneeling in front of Peter and lasering through his bindings.

The boy is almost entirely hysterical now, hiccuping sobs falling from his lips and words slurring. God- tony should've gotten here earlier. Setbacks be damned he should’ve found a fucking way.

Dad,” he breathes, slumping against the ironman suit once he’s free.

Tony pauses for only a second - his son has never called him anything past “Mr. Stark," if the situation wasn't so horrifying, he would've thought it was adorable. It isn't. The fact that his baby is delirious enough to make such a slip up is terrifying.

He wastes no time after that opening the ironman suit and allowing Peter to rest on his chest rather than uncomfortable metal.

“You’re okay,” he whispers, and requests for Friday to get help. Now. “You’re gonna be okay,” he repeats.

He grabs the boy around the shoulders, pulling him into the gentlest hug that he can manage. Peter presses his face into his dad’s shoulder, still hiccuping with sobs that soak into the fabric.

But at the very least, he can finally go home.
