Work Text:

The walk back to her shared home was oddly silent..? Expect for the occasional noise of nearby animals or her own footsteps against the different textured grounds. She didn't say much herself as any remaining energy she had was gone. Not like she had much to begin with..

It took roughly five minutes to get back home? The terrain wasn't that hard to move through as she saw the familiar bridge come into view. She quietly wondered if her dear vampire would be home by now? Most likely not knowing how Achilleas stayed out exploring for days on end.

While wondering this the small cottage appeared into view as she turned the corner. The same sheep still there trapped in the tiny pen at the side of the pen. Walking to the door she reached for the golden knob to open it. Upon opening the familiar smells of baked potatoes and bread reached her nose. As well as the comforting warmth that the whimsical cottage offered.

Paint silently closed the front door and walked over to the kitchen. Stale bread and baked potatoes were still there on the counter top. Obvious that they were left there for a few days. Not like Achilleas can even digest the bread anyway, but now Paint wonders how many times Achilleas was close to throwing up eating said bread.

She stood there awkwardly not sure what to do with herself. Normally she would be cooking dinner for her and Achilleas or upstairs doing something most likely not important in her room. But after everything that's happened over the few days, she doesn't feel like either of those things.

So instead she walks over to the wooden couch in the middle of the room, and find a comfortable position to sit in. Folding her wings in, she brings her knees up to her chest, leaning back into the couch, and slowly she wraps her wings around herself slightly.

Feeling the exhaustion from earlier creep back up, Paint falls into a comfortable content sleep on the wooden couch. Only the quiet snores and breaths could be heard from the pink haired woman. It wasn't until the front door opened that she stirred from her comfortable sleep. "Mhm.. Achilleas?" She mumbled looking over to the where the stairs are. The red headed vampire closed the door behind her as she looked over to the sleepy angel on the couch. "Sorry did I wake you up?" Achilleas replied walking over to the couch.

Paint quietly shook her head as she sat up from her slouching position. Achilleas sat down next to her as she leant against the vampire. "No you didn't, I was waiting for you to come back" She mumbled feeling herself slowly fall back asleep. "Did you eat anything while I was away?" Achilleas asked placing her hand on Paint's head. The nearly asleep women shook her head against the opposite women's shoulder.

Achilleas sighed softly as she helped Paint off the couch. "You need to eat Paint, especially since you haven't in days" She said pulling the tired angel over to the kitchen. The angel sat down in one of the chairs, as Achilleas looked through the barrels of food. She decided on baked potatoes knowing how much Paint enjoyed eating them.

"You don't have to eat them all, just enough to give you some of your energy back" Achilleas said handing the baked goods over to Paint. The angel just nodded as she quickly shoved the potatoes into her mouth. It took less than a minute for Paint to scarf down the baked potatoes. "You were surely hungry" She said shocked looking at Paint.

"I suppose I was" Paint replied standing up from her seat. She grabbed Achilleas by her hand and walked them up the stairs and to the second floor. Once reaching the second floor, Paint led them to her room as she opened the door, and dragged Achilleas inside. "Any reason why we're in your room?" Achilleas asked while watching Paint close the door.

"I'm still tired and want to hold you close while I sleep" The angel replied walking over and sitting on her bed. Achilleas looked at her bit shocked not expecting for Paint to be so blunt. "Are you sure?" She asked slowing walking up to the bed. Paint gave a small nod as the vampire layed down next to her.

The angel was quick to wrap her arms around Achilleas and trap her from escaping anytime soon. She placed her head on the vampire's chest as sleep threatened to close her eyes once again. Strong arms were wrapped around her as Achilleas pulled her close. "For such a high mighty being, you act more like a child" She muttered watching the angel slowly close her eyes.

A small whine could be heard from said angel that was too tired to argue with her. "Definitely a child" She whispered bringing her hand up to Paint's head and slowly caressing it. A quiet huff erupted from the exhausted woman, hitting Achilleas arm with one of her four wings. "Save your comments for later, I'm too tired to even argue back with you" Paint mumbled against her chest clearly annoyed.

Achilleas only sighed and let the angel finally fall asleep in her arms. Paint definitely wasn't annoyed by her comments, she'll most likely say two things about it at max. But right now she's tucked away in the vampire's arms without a care in the world. Achilleas didn't mind though, knowing that Paint is going to be busy when she wakes back up.

So even though she isn't tired enough herself, the vampire closed her eyes and layed there comfortably. The only sounds to be heard was the soft breaths from Paint or the fluttering of the feathered wings wrapped around her. As time passed by, Achilleas felt herself drift to sleep listening to the now familiar sounds. Then finally the vampire fell asleep along with the angel.

Both laying happily close together ignoring the chaos of the outdoor world for a moment. It didn't matter right now, the outdoor world can wait while the two enjoy the rare peace they had right now. They can get back to it once they wake up from the comforting slumber they're in.
