Layers of me – Jason Todd Week 2026

Chapter 1: A birth from stone, soaked in green

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Jason shown through a crack of a stone tablet (like the lid of a coffin), trying to get through. A robin flies over him.

The image outlined in faint glowing green paint, all other details dark.

Notes:

I have so much to say about this one!

It was inspired by the grave of Maria Magdalena Langhans, by Johann August Nahl the Elder. It's a gorgeous piece with a beautiful story, you should all read up on it. It also feels sacrilegious using it for fanart, and that's coming from me.

This is officially Jason's birthday art form me (I know, rebirth is not the same as birth, shhhh), but it's also for Day 4 of Jason Todd Week 2026 "funeral".

Faal, it's Day 1, you might say. I know. I forgot about the event until a week ago and I'm going to go wild and pick and mix the prompts as I see fit (as I manage). Bear with me.

And as you probably gathered from the images, this glows in the dark! Only one color, very basic, but considering I did this in one day and this is my first time using glowy paint, I'm very happy. The photo looks extra bad because my hands are always shaking. Admire it anyway.
Also I'm not sure if it comes across from the photo, but it's on a very very low quality, very very porous gypsum (??) frame/base thing. This means, partially, that the frame is actually 3D. It also means that every time I move it, white dust gets on my fingers, then I touch the black parts so I have to clean it. Rinse and repeat.
