The action is kinda fast sorry if it bothers you. Iwrote this cuz there are not many Duke focused fics (if there are any) and I wanted to make the two balls of sunshine (Duke & Will) to meet. So yeah, idk what else to say. I love Duke he's a little angel.

Chapter 1: Duke can't even finish lunch in peace

Chapter Text

Duke was sitting in his room, eating a sandwich in peace.

He wasn't expecting something weird to happen that day, it was supposed to be a normal day in Gotham. And when I say normal I mean as normal as Gotham can get.

The air suddenly felt weirdly heavy, when a gold portal appeared in front of the boy.

Duke stopped half way to his mouth, this was not on his Gotham day bingo list.

The portal sucked him in leaving the poor sandwich on the floor, Duke was disappointed that he couldn't even finish his lunch in peace. Then his mind went back to the fact that he's being dragged like a rag doll through a portal. And doesn't know where he's going. “Master Duke, Master Bruce wants to talk to—“ Alfred paused when he didn't see the teenager in his room. “Master Duke?” “OH COME ON! I just wanted a second of peace and quiet to have my lunch break and now this?!” Duke yelled out. He wanted to believe that it was just a stupid prank.

The portal didn't look like it was ending soon. He was floating around for some time hitting the 'walls' of the golden void, wanting to get out as soon as possible, because at this rate he was going to have a hundred more bruises. After a while the meta-human saw something that looked like the exit. Then he was falling down.

“Ok Duke, calm down. No need to panic.” There was a pause for a few seconds before the boy opened his eyes to the ground being closer every second. “Ok, maybe panic a little bit. Is there a bush or something... Aha! There! Now please, let me fall into the bush and not on the hard grass. I don't wanna be a pancake.”

Duke started swinging his arms and legs trying to get closer to the place where the bush was sitting in peace, not knowing that a bat kid was about to crash into it from the sky. He hit the bush and his face landed inches away from the grass between the broken branches. The bush didn't appreciate the emergency landing, neither did Duke.

“Ok, that hurt more than I thought it would.” He muttered, his hand searched for a strong branch to push himself up. When he was out of the bush suddenly he was being held a sword to his throat. His eyes narrowed to the wielder of the weapon. It was a teenage boy, maybe his age, he had short black hair, sea green eyes, a necklace around his neck and an orange t-shirt.

“Maybe a hello? No? Alright. That's not very nice to threaten someone with a sword like that you know? Your parents didn't teach you manners?” The meta-human said analyzing his surroundings. There was a camp about twenty feet away from the place they were standing in. The city was too far away for him to run and try to lose the boy in some alley.

Duke slowly reached out to one of the pockets in his Signal suit, he didn't want to alarm the boy and maybe seal his fate. He took out a batarang, then with a quick sweep he shot the sword out of the boy's hands. “Okay, calm down sword boy! I'm not here to hurt you. I don't even know where on earth am I! And trust me if I wanted to hurt you, you would've been unconscious on the ground.”

The boy looked shocked, he didn't expect for this random guy that came from the sky to disarm him in seconds. “Now that we're a little bit more chill, what's your name sword boy? I'm Duke, Duke Thomas.” He held his hand out for a greeting. The orange t-shirt guy was hesitant at first but then shook Duke's hand. “Percy, Percy Jackson.”

“Nice to meet you Percy. So mind telling me why were you holding a sword to my throat?” Percy squinted his eyes and started inspecting Duke. “How can I be sure you're not a monster that someone summoned into camp to kill me and the other campers?” Percy said clenching his sword.

Duke shoved the batarang back into his pocket, Percy had every right to be suspicious. It's not so common for a random teenager to crash onto your property form the sky. “I know you don't trust me to a hundred percent, BUT I can guarantee you that i'm not a ten-foot lizard in a human disguise.”

The black haired boy laughed. “Alright smarty-pants. It's obvious that you're not a normal human since you went through the camp barrier. You must be a demigod.” Duke stared at Percy like he just heard him say the sun is black. “What? No, no, no, no. I'm not a demigod! I'm a meta-human, not a demigod. Wait are you a demigod?”

Percy looked at Duke with confusion in his eyes. “What's a meta-human? I never heard about something like that.” Signal couldn't believe what he just heard. How could the demigod not know what a meta-human is? This day couldn't get any more weirder.

Percy grabbed Duke's hand and started dragging him to camp. “Wait so you're not going to call the police on me?” This was getting more confusing. “No? The police doesn't like me very much. You'll explain that meta-human thing later, let's get you to camp. Chiron will decide what to do.”

Duke tried to keep up so he wouldn't trip over. “Ok then, lead the way sword boy. Let's see what your camp looks like.”
