Eijirou slowly comes to. He hears rain pattering against the sliding door and someone breathing next to him. He feels the softness of a blanket and the warmth of strong arms wrapped tightly around him. His jaw cracks wide in a yawn and bleary eyes open to take in Katsuki’s resting face. It is rare for Eijirou to wake up early enough to see this treasured sight. Katsuki’s face is free from furrows in his brow. His lips are slack and soft rather than scowling and sharp. Eijirou spends several minutes enjoying this special morning.
Katsuki’s peaceful, smoothed down face eventually breaks like ripples across a still pond. He murmurs unintelligibly and his brow furrows. Unable to resist, Eijirou leans over and presses a gentle kiss on his creased forehead. Katsuki opens his wildfire eyes, reduced to comfortable embers whenever he’s with Eijirou. Eijirou stares back, lips curved up and warmed by Katsuki. Katsuki doesn’t smile but he doesn’t scowl either. Instead, his face relaxes and his eyes burn brighter with an intense, fond look. His eyes say everything his mouth does not.
Eijirou’s heart is too overwhelmed. He releases his built-up feelings through every kiss he peppers on Katsuki’s now scrunched up face. He aims to kiss Katsuki’s lips but hits his hand instead as Katsuki pushes him away. Katsuki grumbles at him about morning breath and hides his face in a pillow.
Eijiirou continues regardless, placing fragile, butterfly kisses against his neck and shoulders. When his lips lower, Katsuki rears up and flips over. He pins Eijirou down and glares at him. Eijirou laughs at his disgruntled expression.
Katsuki’s annoyance shifts into determination as he leans down to bite Eijirou’s cheek. He yelps and feels Katsuki’s smirk. Katsuki pulls back and roughly kisses the sore spot. He kisses his other cheek and then all over, copying Eijirou. Then, like a jerk, Eijirou feels warm air against his lips as Katsuki lowers his head. He tilts his head to the side at the last second, dodging the affectionate attack.
Katsuki startles back after he realizes he missed. Eijirou takes advantage of his loosened hold and flips them both over, trying to win the first proper good morning kiss. Katsuki resists, and they wrestle around the bed. Katsuki shoves him off the bed at one point, and they continue fighting on the floor. Curses and laughter ring out as rain drums a steady rhythm.
Eventually, they both tire out and lay next to each other, breathing heavily. Eijirou looks over to see Katsuki stretched out and flushed. His hair is even more explosive than normal and sweat drips down his scarred skin. Red eyes meet his own. He’s caught staring.
Katsuki smiles, a soft, barely there smile. Eijirou makes no attempt to move as Katsuki finally presses their lips together in a soft kiss that belies their previous roughhousing. Katsuki pulls back and gloats about his win. Eijirou grins and lets him. After all, they know it’s a win for both of them every time.
