Kazoo

Summary:

Vox tries to apologize to the other Vees, but Velvette and Valentino don't want to hear it yet.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

“I get it, okay?” Vox insisted. “I lost sight of our goal; of us. I let Alastor play me like a violin–”

“No, you didn’t,” snapped Velvette. “Violins are challenging. You let that outdated piece of shit play you like a cheap kazoo he found in a loot bag handed to him at a party he didn’t even want to attend.”

“What she said.” Valentino had all four arms crossed. “Idiota obsesivo y estúpido.”

[You stupid, obsessive idiot.]

“What will it take to convince you I’m sorry?”

“I don’t care if you’re sorry,” said Val. “I’m not done being angry at you yet.”

Notes:

They are, of course, ignoring that Alastor manipulated all three of them, with Vox simply being the primary target. All three Vees are spiteful people - Valentino and Velvette are not inclined to examine their own behaviour for flaws right now.

This was mostly a formatting test to see if using the 'drop down menu' for optional translations could work in a fic, as an alternative to having translations openly visible in the main body (which can disrupt the narrative flow if the reader isn't interested in reading translations), or using footnotes (which, while useful, gets messy when reading a multichapter fic on a single webpage).

I determined it cannot be used "mid-paragraph, starting at the part to be translated", because inserting a drop-down automatically creates a paragraph break where the 'arrow' is; therefore, it has to attach to the entire paragraph. Similarly, I cannot make the translation appear on the same line as the translated text.

Valentino's choice of words are similar enough to English not to particularly need translated from Spanish, but, formatting test. Plus, Vox canonically didn't understand - or at least, claimed not to understand - the last time Valentino called him "el demonio estúpido" [stupid demon].

Yes, I know a drabble is supposed to be exactly 100 words. For some reason, even though the translation is four words, it brings the word count up by three. When typed up without it, this is 100 words. I assume a lack of space between html codes and body text confuses the word counter as to what is a 'real word'.
