Subject_3, after all this time trapped in that godforsaken simulator, managed to break out. Subject_3 stepped out to a large hallway, steps waiting to be crossed. This could be it, this could be the chance they were all waiting for. A chance to escape, to be free and be able to move on to a better life, to allow every other subject to move on to have a better life.
They could see some type of mess in the hall. Splatters of black and whites stained the halls. There were claw marks, cracks against the ground. The place was a mess. Subject_3 couldn’t place their finger on why.
That’s when a dark shadowy figure emerged from below, getting in their way. They stumbled back as ERROR_ had been watching, waiting for the time to strike. She revealed her black sword, the blade misting with a dark energy that made her look more menacing. Before she could truly swing at Subject_3, a white sword comes from behind and stabs her through the stomach. A high pitched screech was emitted from ERROR_, her back arching in pain.
“NO…. NO….!” She cried. “HOW COULD YOU?? YOU CAN’T END IT ALL HERE… YOU— YOU CAN’T, NOT AFTER ALL OF MY HARD WORK—-!” She tried to speak, spitting out a black liquid that one could easily guess to be her blood. A fool who thought she had the upper hand had been struck, her hands hovering over the injury with shock. Subject_3 watched as it dripped to the floor, ERROR_ following suit as she collapsed. Subject_0, the one who did the sneak attack, looked indifferent. He stared at her with the same smile that was never really changing.
Her breath was getting shallow, yet she still lived on the floor being painted with her blood. Subject_3 could only look in shock as they realized that Subject_0 had saved them!
“can yu die faster?” Subject_0 asked so casually, watching ERROR_ bleed out on the floor. “i want to finish dis alredy.”
“Are… YOU KIDDING ME?!” ERROR_ yelled through the pain of her body. She clenched her bleeding stomach. “YOU.. IMPRISONED ME IN THAT PITIFUL CUBE… AND NOW YOU EXPECT ME TO JUST GO AWAY?! WAS I ALWAYS JUST SOME INCONVENIENCE TO YOU??”
Subject_0 towered over her, his eyes unmoving from her body on the floor. The grip on his sword tightened in frustration, but eased just as quickly.
“ur being one rite now, boi.” Subject_0 bluntly replies to her. It made ERROR_’s face scrunch up in rage.
“AFTER EVERYTHING… EVERY SINGLE THING… you… you still NEGLECT ME! You still think I’m just some WORTHLESS WASTE OF SPACE don’t you??” ERROR_ said this with anger in her voice that she knew she couldn’t do nothing about. Not against Subject_0. “I thought if I wrecked that horrid, boring wasteland… became free, you’d see my worth. You’d stop holding your own life back and start doing something. But you still aren’t. You’re using it to rid yourself of me.”
She slammed her fist.
“WHY? Why are you doing this? Don’t you see the power those scientists gave you? How much power you and I have? Don’t you think it’d be better if this entire planet burned and you and I were the center of it all…?” ERROR_ asked, her bunny ears tilting back as she turned her head to him.
Subject_0 stayed quiet.
“I can see it in your eyes. You’re bored. You’re bored of it all and you need to find something new. This is new! All of it is!” ERROR_ spoke. “You can fix this! Break out of here with me! And then when we’re finally free, out of this lab, you can—“
“that’s not free to me.” Subject_0 interjected.
“…What…?”
“i wants to be gone, error_. i dont want to b hear anymor.” Subject_0 continued. “i want to end things. i want end now. for good. u will never understand how i feels becuse ur not like mi. u never will be.” He drew his white sword again, the tip of the blade touching the floor. “every day i gots a regret about u, how u couldv been different. u could hav been grate, boi! but u arent.”
Subject_0 stepped closer, inches away from her. “neither of us are. we dont deserve dis. thats why i need to do dis.” Subject_0 finally turned to Subject_3, a mix of emotions on their features, still on the floor. “why u need to do it. for us all.”
“You can’t be serious…! You can be putting it all on this nobody, can you?” ERROR_ asked. She looked stunned. The man who defeated her all these years ago, trapped her, bested her so easily, is giving up so easily now?
“i gots to.” Subject_0 replied with a shrug, looking back at her. “wat othr option is dere?”
“…I always knew you were a coward. Locking me away just so you wouldn’t have to deal with me, putting me in that hellscape of a theatre… you just love taking the easy way out. I always wanted your strength, your love.. and still you hide. That cover won’t last you forever.”
“ur right.” Subject_0 nodded. “i cant love like dis. i cant lives dis way. thats why dis ending.”
There was a silence. A long one. The alarms continued to blare in the distance, but seemed tuned out by the two in front of Subject_3. They thought they should be moving, but what if ERROR_ notices? What if they started fighting again? They didn’t want to be caught in that crossfire! Until Subject_0 raised his sword, what 3 would assume to be the last time.
“this hurts me more than you.”
It was the only honest admission that Subject_0 gave to ERROR_. He sliced her body in two, the upper torso falling onto the ground. He stood over her for a moment, the blood rolling out from her exposed bottom organs. He turned to fully acknowledge Subject_3 for a moment, before vanishing in a flash of light. Subject_3 yelped, covering their eyes with their hands. Subject_3 slowly looked from their shielding hands, being met with the sight of the place a mess of black and white in the distance once again. Making their way across the halls, they were met with writing on the wall.
“End it. Where it all began.”
