"Ruskin, are you cooking something? It smells delicious." Charles Augustus Milverton curiously asked as he stepped into the kitchen. Ruskin turned around and didn't let the spoon go. His heart started to beat faster when he saw the other man. This didn't change even after they got married and he suspected that it never will. Charles was the meaning of his life, after all.
"Yes. Tonight, I wanted to make something special for you." Ruskin answered and smiled at his husband. "But don't ask more. I don't want to ruin the surprise."
"You always make something special for me." Charles noted and sat down on one of the chairs. It seemed that he liked to keep Ruskin company while he was working and it made Ruskin happy. Whenever Charles showed any kind of affection towards him, he felt like he was about to go insane from the joy. Back then, he couldn't even imagine that his dream could ever come true. That he will earn the heart of the man he loved more than anything else in the world.
Charles - Mr. Milverton - was once his employer and he didn't believe in love. It was special fun for him that he can tear lovers apart and Ruskin participated in his evil plans. He wanted Mr. Milverton to be satisfied while he desperately tried to keep his greatest secret. That he, in fact, also had feelings for his boss. It was hard not to love Mr. Milverton if you ended up being on his good side. He was sadistic and cruel to society, but with Ruskin, he acted kind and thoughtful, making sure that he would not lack anything. Mr. Milverton was also an especially handsome man with his curly, silver hair and golden eyes. Of course that Ruskin couldn't think of anyone else after he first saw him and he slowly fell in love during the years while he was working for him. It was hard work to make Mr. Milverton love him - but his efforts eventually bore fruit. Now they were not boss and employee anymore, but a married couple and Ruskin made sure that his beloved Charles would always have that charming smile on his face.
"I love you, Charles. It is natural." Ruskin confessed, watching the other man for a while. Charles' gaze was glowing from the amusement and a similar emotion as well. Ruskin wanted to get lost in those golden eyes, but as an ominous sound from the cooking pot's direction hit his ears, he needed to turn back to the meal. They will have time getting intimate after the dinner, later in the bed.
But Charles was not so keen to wait for that long. Ruskin heard that he suddenly stood up from the chair. Ruskin didn't want him to leave - if he could, he would have spent every second of his life in Charles' presence. However, Charles didn't walk to the door, instead, he stopped behind him. Ruskin felt that a pair of arms got wrapped around his waist. He let out a chuckle from the playful move and immediately started blushing when the other man gave a kiss on his nape.
"Charles... I am cooking... this is not safe now..." He said, but he was not convincing. Safe or not, this position was perfect. His heart was pounding in his chest like it was about to explode while Charles repeatedly pressed his lips to his skin and seductively whispered into his ear.
"Then send me out... but I doubt that you would do that. This is what you want - I always knew what you wanted." He told him in a cocky manner, but it was not similar to how he overpowered his victims back then. Ruskin thought that his husband was very lovable when he acted confident in love.
"You know me well. I just... can't send you out." He admitted gently. "And I don't even want to, even if I burn the entire house down."
He heard Charles' cheerful laugh. It echoed back in his soul and made his emotions whirl like a storm - but it was not a destructive force, only a transforming one.
"You can cook like this, can't you?" He asked and put his head down on Ruskin's shoulder. "You can do anything." He praised Ruskin who was aware that Charles' faith in him was genuine.
And he was right. He could do anything - for Charles.
"For you, I can." Ruskin replied and he continued cooking with his beloved hugging him from behind.

"Ruskin! Ruskin!"
Another voice slid inside Ruskin's consciousness and dragged him out of the beautiful pictures. Ruskin let out a sigh. He knew that he needed to go.
He carefully took down the glasses and put them down on the desk, then he turned around. His employer, Mr. Milverton was standing behind him. There was a smile on his face.
"I see that you really became fond of that virtual reality game." He noted with a smirk. Ruskin turned red.
"Well... yes, sir." He replied shyly.
"I have no idea why it entertains you so much." Mr. Milverton shook his head. "But spend your free time as you wish. I apologize that I need to disturb you now, but an urgent business came up and I need your help."
"I am coming, sir." Ruskin obediently nodded and followed his employer out of the room. Before he stepped out, his gaze fell back to the VR glasses.
He wished that he didn't need to take them up again and his dream could come true in real life as well.
