Chapter Text
The first thing Saparata noticed upon waking up was just how cold his room was. The second was the sound of rain outside his window.
He burrowed himself deeper under his blanket and groaned. Alas, life was cruel, so after a fruitless attempt at falling back asleep, he groaned once more and got out of bed to make breakfast.
Saps could feel his eyes drooping as he cracked some eggs into his favourite pan - the only one that hadn't been charred by his and Flux's poor attempts at extravagant meals that ended in the smoke alarm going off and apologies to disgruntled neighbours.
He plated his breakfast, not even pausing to admire his food before digging in, grabbing his phone to doomscroll for a bit. He told himself he would work on that bad habit eventually, just like he did every day for the past four years of his life. However, 30 unread messages caught his attention.
T5200: saps??
T5200: bro where are you guys???
Saps :D: huh
Saps blinked blankly at his phone. What on earth could Thomas want from him? If he wanted anything he should have texted Flux.
T5200: we're waiting for you and flux
T5200: we agreed on 10am right???
Saps felt his heart drop a bit. He checked the time. 10:33.
Saps :D: FUCK
Saparata stood up, his eggs abandoned as he made a beeline for the door to Flux's bedroom, knocking violently.
"Fluixon, you bastard, why didn't you wake me up?!"
He expected to hear a snarky voice respond with something along the lines of "you never told me to" or "it was funny." All he got was silence. Saps raised his eyebrows. Maybe Flux had left without him. But why would Thomas have asked where him and Flux are? He sighed quietly, opening the door to Flux's bedroom.
It wasn't pitch black, per se, but close to it, thick curtains blocking almost all the light. Instinctively, he turned the lights on, earning him a groan from the mass on the bed. Saps felt something warm in his heart, his gaze softening as a face peaked out from under the blankets, only to feel his eyes furrow at just how... bad Flux looked. Well, not bad. he was still attractive. A fact Saps cringed to think about, being reminded of the teasing from his friends. Could he not admit that a man looks good without being accused of being into him? Objectively, and he means purely objectively, Flux was very good looking. His brows, his eyes, his chin. His lips
Saps shook his head slightly to rid himself of those thoughts, earning him a raised eyebrow from Flux.
"What do you want?"
Fluixon's voice was awfully hoarse, and, based on how he winced, his throat was painful. He was blinking rapidly, his eyes scrunched up. Saps quickly apologised, turning the light off and plunging the room into darkness once more.
"We're late to that hangout with Thomas and Micro."
"Really? What time is it?"
Saps pulled out his phone. "Ten thirty five."
"God..."
"Yeah..." Saps slowly approached the bed, kneeling down on the cold floor, "...but I honestly think we should just stay. We can hang out with them another day."
Flux let out an amused huff. "Oh, I'm sure the two of them can have plenty fun alone."
Saps laughed, and so did Flux, but it quickly turned to a coughing fit. The light haired man felt himself frown.
"Are you sick?"
"What do you think?" came the snarky response, although Saps could hear the slight whine in Flux's voice. He raised his hand to the sick man's forehead, letting out a slight hiss at just how hot it was.
Saps stared at Flux, and Flux stared at Saps.
He found himself wishing he hadn't turned the light off - he could barely see the bright purple of Flux's eyes. Without thinking, he lowered his hand to Flux's cheek, causing the other to hum quietly and nuzzle his face up to his palm. Saps felt himself get warm, not noticing how Flux was inching closer and closer until their noses were brushing. Saparata gasped so quietly he could barely hear it himself and...
...pulled away.
"I'll go make you like... uhh... food," he said, feeling just how forced his smile was. He stood up and left without turning back to look at Flux once.
