"Over the next few days Emma gets a call pretty much any time Jess is in the car. She reports back to her sister about Azzi bringing her a homemade muffin, Paige hiding her head under Jess's hoodie face pressed into the fabric of her t shirt during team movie night, the both of them taking any excuse to hug her or press a kiss to the crest of her cheekbone even when she's sweaty and disgusting, Paige bringing her a lego set, Azzi begging her to come over for lunch, and then dragging her grocery shopping because she wanted company. Emma dismisses them as a little weird but probably friendly with bad boundaries and Jess gets the feeling that her sister really isn't listening that closely anymore."
