Work Text:
Optimus looked around himself.
“Oh dear.”
Bumblebee turned to face him from where he sat on the couch next over.
“What’s wrong?”
“I seem to have misplaced my bookmark.”
Bumblebee glanced at the homebound paper book Optimus held, it was a new fad among Cybertronians that caught the Primes' interest.
He enjoyed the way books felt and understood why so many humans enjoyed the feeling of paperbacks even after reading digitally.
It was novel as a Cybertronian. He enjoyed both, a story is a story.
“It’s not under the blanket?”
Optimus moved around and got up, the bookmark was nowhere to be found.
“No, it seems not.”
“Do you have other bookmarks?”
“No, I only had one since I like to finish a book before picking up another, so I never needed more than one.”
Bumblebee got up.
“You just need something flat and thin enough to go between the pages right?”
“Yes.”
He walked over to the wall and took down a medal, undid the ribbon, and placed the medal down on the dresser.
He walked over to the Prime and placed it in his servo.
“Here, use this.”
Optimus held the ribbon gently, it was a blue ribbon with 𝓑𝓾𝓶𝓫𝓵𝓮𝓫𝓮𝓮 embroidered onto it.
“Are you sure I can use this?”
“Of course, do you not want to?”
“Of course with one rule.”
Optimus looked up at Bumblebee who remained standing.
“What is it?”
“Don't lose it.”
“Of course, I'd never lose something so important.”
“Naturally, the ribbon is more important than even the matrix!”
Optimus raised an optic ridge, a smile dancing in his derma.
“Oh truly?”
“Obviously.”
“Then I shall take the greatest care of this ribbon,” he stated in a tone of gravity.
Bumblebee laughed.
“I'm kidding; it's just a ribbon, I can replace its job with a string to hang it.”
The Prime lifted the ribbon.
“It is a ribbon of Victory is it not? One with your name on it. Naturally, it’s as good as a relic now.”
Bee rolled his optics as he sat down next to the Prime.
“Ha ha.”
He expressed bluntly.
Optimus stared at him amused.
“My books will be honored to hold your ribbon within them.”
“I'm sure they will be.”
