Chapter Text
Five Days Before: Tung Tung Tung Sahur’s Point of view
Sahur sighed. It had been a year since his brother, Trippi Troppi had been murdered. Found at a mutual friend, Kaito’s house, as he had been out with a friend, Ballerina Capuccina. He would never forget the day his brother died, it was the day he wished he had tried to make contact with him, two months after they found out they were related by blood test. Sahur shoved his thoughts aside and put on his leather jacket, freshly gifted by Lego Batman and took a rut suppressant. He hopped into his car and ignited the engine, driving to him and his friend’s favorite café, Sip Seven.
“Triple T! Over here!” His friend Moth shouted, her blue eyes shining and dark blonde hair sitting in waves across her back, sitting at a booth with her wife Rika, who’s piercing orange eyes were upturned while laughing at a joke, her green-blue hair tied up in a ponytail, across from mutual friend Conk, who was six foot and blonde, and his wife Gran D. Maugh, a woman about ten years older than him with salt and pepper hair and green eyes. An empty bar stool was pulled out at the end of the table, leaving him room to sit.
Way to third wheel, he thought glumly. It wasn’t his fault he was stuck in an arranged marriage as a gay man though.
“Nice to see you bro! Have you seen the new Spider-Man movie yet?” Conk asked, miming the web-shooting gesture Peter Parker was famous for.
“Yeah I have actually,” Sahur exclaims, sitting in his chair with a brief wave at the rest of the table. “I loved it when Spider-Man did the thing!”
“Which thing?”
“All of them!”
“Favorite part?”
“I loved it when-“ SPLASH
A tidal wave of iced coffee was spilled on the outside of his leather jacket, protecting him from the chill.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” Came a male, but slightly effeminate voice from next to him.
Tung Tung Tung Sahur turned slightly to face the man who had seemingly tripped over his stool’s leg.
“Hey, no worries. I was kind of in the way anyway.” He replied.
He then took a second to take in the person before him. He had black hair, slightly long, about to his shoulders in a sort of hush cut. He was Asian, probably Chinese, and had thin rimmed and circular black glasses. He was wearing a pastel blue and white striped shirt under a light pink jacket with small cartoonish stars in the top right corner, with yellow and blue sleeves. He carried a small Whote messenger bag with a few pins, some of Genshin impact characters, a few from a popular BL anime, some seemingly of older musicians, like Tchaikovsky and Mozart, and… was that…?
“Hey, is that Charles de Gaulle? The World War Two French resistance leader? Next to a leopard tank?”
The man looked up, slightly shocked. “You… you recognize all that?”
Triple T laughed. “Yeah, I’m kind of a big history fan. Machinery and weapons interest me a lot, especially from around the WW2 era.”
The stranger looked up, visibly brightening. “Really!? I love that stuff!! I’ve never met anyone else who has such knowledge on the topic!” A ring from his phone cut him off and he rushed to check it. “Shoot… it’s my sister. I have to go.” The man grabbed Sahur’s napkin before writing a name and some numbers, and walking away. “Hope to hear from you soon!” He called. Tung Tung picked it up. Jaidyn Lee… huh. Maybe he wouldn’t be third wheeling for much longer after all. Moth poked his side teasingly.
“Sooo… looks like you have a new boyfriend…”
“Shut up and get your wife to hand me paper towels to clean this up.”
“Hey just because she works here doesn’t mean she has to get you everything on her day off.” She pouted. Rika laughed.
“Don’t worry about it I got ‘em already.”
She stopped down near Sahur’s chair and mopped up all the coffee before throwing the tissues away. Gran took her opportunity to ask the burning question.
“So… how are things with Miku?”
“Badly… I can’t believe we were forced into marriage like this just because we come from rich families. I’m pretty sure she’s even in love with her best friend. I don’t blame her, I certainly couldn’t like her, but still… I wish we could divorce.”
“Well technically you can,” She interjected. “It’s just about if you can support yourself after your families cut ties, and I know you’ve been saving for that- it can’t be that much longer. Plus, you guys are friends anyway.”
“True… thank you Gran.” He offered her a warm smile. “That really helps.” He got out, right as Rika sat back down.
“So… who’s up for muffins?”

A few hours later, Moth, Conk and Miku were lodged up in Conk’s studio apartment, sitting on a plain white couch in between two Monstera plants.
“Ughhhhh… I have no idea what to do here!” Groaned Miku. “Tung is great and all but he’s just not Luka! I can’t even get away without my parents cutting me out of their will, believe me, I’ve tried.” Miku buried her head in her hands, sighing softly. Conk and Moth exchanged a glance before consoling their friend.
“Hey it’s ok, you know Triple doesn’t want anything out of the relationship, you’re trapped together, so you’re more likely to find a way out.” Moth said soothingly, as Conk placed a hand on Miku’s back.
“Yeah, and you’re both saving up to live on your own… plus…” Conk glanced at Moth, who nodded. “He may have found some kind of boyfriend today.” He smirked.
“W-what?” Miku gasped. “We can DO that? So all I have to do is confess to Luka?” Her voice rose with excitement, before dropping as she realized, “Oh… but we couldn’t get married or even move in. Our parents would know and I wouldn’t want to hurt her…”
“You’ll find a way for sure.” Conk interjected. “We believe in you.”
Miku smiled and hugged her friends before checking the clock and sighing in aggravation. “I’ve got a phone call with my dad soon. Sorry guys, but wish me luck!” She grinned, albeit sadly.
“See you tomorrow? Conk called as Moth and Miku left his apartment.
“For sure!” Miku shouted back.
Twenty minutes later, she stumbled into her and Tung Tung Tung Sahur’s shared mansion, kicking off her shoes and popping some rut suppressants before heading to her bedroom to call her father. This was going to be a long night, she accepted, as her phone rang.
“Yes father?” She sighed into the phone, waiting for his reply.
“It’s our weekly call. You know what I’m asking.” Came his slightly cold and muffled voice.
“Yes, things with Mr. Sahur are going well, yes we remain married, he is getting better after receiving therapy but no, there is no news on who committed the murder. Or why, for that matter.” She added.
“Glad to hear everything’s going well. I have a business meeting to attend to so we must unfortunately cut this call short. Have a nice night Miku.”
“You too.” She replied into the phone before hanging up.
“My god that was awful.” She muttered before throwing herself into her plush bed and stuffing her face into her cat and rabbit pillows that remind her of her and Luka. She sat up quickly, however, after hearing a ping from her phone. She picked it up quickly and smiled at the contact name.
