“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Jeongguk shrieks, hands moving down to cover his dick as Yoongi barges into his shower stall. Jeongguk turns to him, cheeks blazing as he shakes his sudsy hair out of his eyes.
“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you!? I’m naked!” Jeongguk says, chest heaving. Yoongi doesn’t seem to mind Jeongguk’s nakedness, eyes trained steadily on his face as he reaches behind the younger male and turns off the water. Jeongguk makes a noise of protest: “There’s shampoo in my hair.”
“You were ogling that goalie the whole game. You didn’t score one point Jeongguk, not a-one!” Yoongi says, the vein in his neck bulging. Jeongguk’s eyes flick around the locker room, and each one of Jeongguk’s teammates is nodding his head in agreement. Even their team manager, Seokjin, is nodding his head while he fiddles with papers on his clipboard.
“I was not!”Jeongguk argues, he would point an accusatory finger in the air if he wasn’t so concerned with public indecency and unwanted full-frontal. Jeongguk turns back to Yoongi, who is still standing in his shower stall, angrily gripping at the towel around his waist. “Please get out of my stall, hyung. I’m naked.”
“It’s nothing we haven’t all seen before, Guk.” Jimin snickers, and Jeongguk glares at him. One too many celebratory drinks and they never let him live it down. Jeongguk huffs and turns around to turn the water back on, but Yoongi doesn’t leave his stall.
“Leave,” Jeongguk begs, and then he turns on the water, drenching both himself and Yoongi, who yells and smack Jeongguk on the back of the head. Jeongguk snickers and quickly rinses the shampoo out of his hair, foregoing conditioning when Seokjin yells that, if they hurry, they can go to dinner before it gets too late.
—
Jeongguk is on his third helping when his phone vibrates in his pocket, a special tone that makes him smile down at his food. Jeongguk turns away from his team and slides his phone out of his pocket, biting his lips to keep himself from grinning too much.

“Who’re you texting?” Hoseok asks, his face suddenly much too close to Jeongguk’s own. Jeongguk startles and drops his phone, kicking it under his chair in his panic. Hoseok smirks at him, reaching down to grab Jeongguk’s phone off the floor when Jeongguk panics further and leans down to grab it before Hoseok can, effectively smacking his head against both the table and Hoseok’s head.
“Ow!” Hoseok yells, jerking backwards. Jeongguk quickly takes his phone and shoves it in his pocket, the pain in his forehead finally setting in now that his phone is back in his possession. “Jesus, Guk, I get that you’re secretive but you didn’t have to go all WWE on me, God.”
“S-sorry.” Jeongguk says, bringing a hand up to his forehead and rubbing at the knot starting to form there. Everyone at the table has fallen dead quiet, Yoongi quietly tending to Hoseok’s head while everyone else stares at Jeongguk oddly, and Jeongguk nods awkwardly before scooting his chair closer to the wall and falling quiet himself.
“Well,” Seokjin says, picking up his chopsticks and stealing a sliver of meat off Jeongguk’s plate. “That was interesting for a minute.” And just like that, the team beings talking again, much too loudly for the quiet restaurant, and definitely much too loudly for the sake of Jeongguk’s throbbing forehead, but anything is better than all of them staring at him like he’s just kicked a newborn puppy.
When Jeongguk looks up from his lap, he catches Yoongi’s eye, and smiles sheepishly when Yoongi mouths, “we’ll talk about this later,” while he holds some ice from his drink, folded up in a napkin to Hoseok’s head.
—
Jeongguk pouts while Taehyung cackles, hand thrown over his mouth as he dabs at his eyes with the corner of his sweater. They’re supposed to be watching movies, cuddling together and maybe making out but no, Taehyung is too busy laughing at Jeongguk for them to make any sort of progress in Jeongguk’s plans.
“It’s not funny.” Jeongguk says, hitting Taehyung’s shoulder lightly. Taehyung laughs and pulls Jeongguk into his lap. Taehyung pushes Jeongguk’s bangs out of his face, running his fingers gently over the welt on Jeongguk’s forehead.
“It’s a little funny.” Taehyung giggles and Jeongguk continues to pout at him. Taehyung drops a kiss onto Jeongguk’s wounded forehead (and pride, probably) and pulls him down so Jeongguk can rest his head on Taehyung’s chest. “I can’t believe you nearly smashed your phone just to keep your friends from finding out we’re dating.”
“They’d pick on me!” Jeongguk whines, smacking Taehyung’s chest. He sits up and glares at Taehyung, but it’s more fond than anything, he can’t even pretend to be mad at the elder. “You’ve never met Yoongi hyung. He’d eat me alive if he knew my game was compromised because my boyfriend winked at me every time I tried to make a goal.”
“But I wink at everyone, babe. It throws everyone off — it’s strategic.” Taehyung says, and he winks at Jeongguk playfully. Jeongguk frowns at him and Taehyung kisses his nose gently. “You know, you won’t be able to hide me forever. Namjoon hyung and your team manager have been getting pretty close.”
“No way; Jin hyung doesn’t date. He’s turned down like.. everyone that has ever asked him out.” Jeongguk says, and Taehyung shrugs.
“Maybe he has fallen prisoner to the Kim Family Charm.” Taehyung says, and he smiles the same smile that makes Jeongguk weak at the knees. (If he’s being honest, however, Taehyung could do anything at all and Jeongguk would be weak at the knees.)
“It’s a slippery slope,” Jeongguk says solemnly. Taehyung laughs and tickles Jeongguk’s sides, and Jeongguk’s shouts in surprise before falling off the side of the bed, nearly banging his head again on his bedside table. Jeongguk pouts up at Taehyung, who’s face is red with laughter again. “I hate you.”
“You love me.” Taehyung says, winking coyly, and Jeongguk sighs because, like usual, Taehyung is right.
—
Jeongguk wipes the sweat out of his eyes, wishing that he’d taken the headband Taehyung had offered to him at the start of the game. He’s in the stands — Taehyung is — with his brother, Namjoon. Namjoon had come to see Seokjin is action, even though he doesn’t really do anything; “he probably looks cute, managing teams and such” had been Namjoon’s reasoning. Jeongguk calls bullshit, but it gives him a reason to see his own boyfriend, so he doesn’t say anything.
“Guk!” Hoseok yells across the field, and Jeongguk turns to see a ball whizzing at him. Jeongguk lets out a strangled yell — something that sounds a lot like “oh fuck, shit” but this is a family environment, so Jeongguk hopes it sound more like a garbled war cry as he ducks out of the way. The ball rolls out of play and Jeongguk shakes his head, trying to clear his thoughts.
“You okay?” Jeongguk feels a hand on his back and Jeongguk nods, looking at Yoongi blankly. He feels a slap on his cheek and Jeongguk shouts, holding his palm to his face. “I don’t know what’s wrong with you, but cut it out. If we want to get to CBC this year, you need to step up your game so we can win.”
“Right, right.” Jeongguk says, gulping as wiping the hair out of his eyes again. Yoongi slaps his back and moves back to his position while Jeongguk moves to his own. In the stands he hears a familiar voice yell, “you got this, baby!” and Jeongguk grins. He’s got this.
Jeongguk does not got this.
There’s a minute left in the final quarter, and Jeongguk is sweating so much he can hardly see. Yoongi is yelling from behind him something about passing, but Jeongguk doesn’t even have the ball, and he’s so frustrated he feels like he could rip his hair out. His coach calls a timeout and both teams filter off the field, Jeongguk sluggishly following his team to the bench.
“Jeon!” The coach yells, and Jeongguk groans. Of course, of course it’s his fault they’re losing. Jeongguk looks at his coach wearily, but instead of looking angry, he looks worried. “You aren’t playing well—“
“Wow, thanks coach.” Jeongguk mutters, and his coach glares at him, effectively shutting Jeongguk up.
“If you would let me finish,” his coach sighs. Jeongguk apologizes quietly. “You’re not playing well. Where’s your head at? You’re all over the place and—“
“Jeon Jeongguk!” Jeongguk startles, head snapping towards the voice of his boyfriend. He starts to smile, but it falls short when he sees the angry tilt to Taehyung’s eyebrows.
“Tae? You can’t be down here go back to the stands—“ Jeongguk is cut off with his second slap of the day, and Jeongguk holds his cheek while the rest of the team breathes out a collective “oh shit.”
“What on earth are you doing out there?” Taehyung asks, and he rubs at Jeongguk’s cheek with this thumb, a silent sorry, babe, but it had to be done. “You look like your head is on backwards.”
“Well—“
“Ah-ah.” Taehyung says quietly. “No excuses, just go out there and win, okay? You’re embarrassing me.” Taehyung smiles sweetly, but in his eyes Jeongguk’s sees the determination, even if it’s not his team that’s losing. Jeongguk nods and Taehyung kisses his nose as the referee blows the whistle; time out over. The rest of the team looks stunned as Taehyung smacks Jeongguk on the ass, and yells, “go get ‘em, babe!”
Jeongguk returns to the field, somewhat stunned but mostly determined, now that Taehyung is standing on the sidelines with his coach, looking at him sternly. He gives Jeongguk a cute thumbs up and then the game is back on, Hoseok quickly darting forward and stealing the ball from the other team’s forwards. Jeongguk runs beside him, ready to take the ball as Hoseok passes it to him. Jeongguk is dribbling towards the goal when he hears, “just shoot it, babe! You fucking ball-hog!”
Jeongguk laughs and shoots the ball, and it arches perfectly into the net. Jeongguk’s team cheers, but they haven't won. The score board reads seven to seven, with twenty six seconds left in the game. Jeongguk falls back into position, and he looks at Hoseok. They share a nod, a nod that says lets do this, and they surge forward.
Hoseok kicks the ball at Jeongguk as he enters the goal box, and before Jeongguk even has time to think about it, the ball is connecting with his stomach and he falls forward onto the ground, and a cleat makes contact with his face. The whistle blows and Jeongguk rolls onto his back, dazed. Suddenly Hoseok is standing over him, his face somewhat blurry.
“Oh shit.” Hoseok mumbles, reaching down and hauling Jeongguk to his feet. Jeongguk feels something drip onto his arm, and when he looks down, the crease of his elbow is a shiny red color, but there’s no cut there. Tentatively, Jeongguk reaches up and touches his cheek — which has been fairy abused, with two slaps and now a gash from the teeth of a cleat — and when he pulls away, his fingers are scarlet.
“Oh shit.” Jeongguk agrees, wiping his hand on his jersey. The crowd claps as Jeongguk makes his way off the field, and he overhears the other teams coach yelling at the boy who stepped on his face. (“When someone is down you stop game play, you can’t just step on someone’s face.)
“Jimin, you’re in. Hoseok, tell Yoongi to take the penalty kick. Jeongguk, sit on the bench.” The coach orders, and Jimin and Hoseok mockingly solute him while Jeongguk sits down on the bench. Taehyung is next to him in a second, holding a rag to his face gingerly.
“I oughta smack him, too.” Taehyung says as he wipes the blood away from Jeongguk’s face. Jeongguk laughs and rests his hand on Taehyung’s wrist, preventing him from messing with the wound any further. On the field, Yoongi is squaring up for the penalty kick, and Jeongguk can feel all the air being sucked out of the stadium as everyone holds their breath.
The whistle blows.
Yoongi backs up, runs towards the ball.
He kicks.
He scores.
The crowds erupts into cheers as Yoongi jumps up and down happily, the rest of the team joining him in a huge dog pile. Jeongguk stands up to join his team, but between the glares from his coach and his boyfriend, Jeongguk decides to sit back down on the bench. When the rest of the team makes their way to the sidelines, Jeongguk is allowed to stand up as the his team passes around celebratory hugs.
Taehyung smiles at Jeongguk, who is in the middle of a group hug, and Jeongguk smiles back at him as wide as he can without irritating the cut on his cheek. Seokjin walks up to the group and pulls Jeongguk aside, turning his head and inspecting it closely.
“It’ll probably scar.” Seokjin says, and Jeongguk feels a giddy sense of pride bubble up in his chest. He’s always wanted a scar, especially after watching the Lion King too many times as a kid.
“Awesome.” Jeongguk beams, gently touching his cheek. He walks over to Taehyung, who ruffles his hair and smiles at him. “I’m finally going to—“
“Match the greatest villain ever?” Taehyung asks, smile never leaving his face. Jeongguk nods and Taehyung laughs. Only his boyfriend would be excited about matching the very lion that killed Mufasa.
“Wait.” Jimin says as everyone is tossing their shin guards and socks into their bags. He’s looking at Taehyung, who is braiding Jeongguk’s hair as Jeongguk packs up. “You’re that goalie, the one from two weeks ago.”
The whole team turns towards Jeongguk, who is smiling sheepishly, while Taehyung grins at each player happily. “Yeah, Jeonggukie said I got him in trouble for not making any goals.”
“Yeah,” Yoongi says, mirth dancing in his eyes. “Jeonggukie got quite a bit of shit for not playing up to par that week.” Taehyung giggles and Jeongguk groans, head falling forward onto his knees.
“Is that who you were talking to at dinner?” Hoseok asks, smirking to himself. “I’ve been wondering who ‘number one in my heart’ is.”
“Aw, babe!” Taehyung says, pulling Jeongguk’s head back to plant a kiss on his forehead. “You’re so cute.” The team proceeds to make kissy noises at the two of them, even into dinner when they sit next to each other in the booth. Jeongguk seems to have a permanent blush on his cheeks, while Taehyung is grinning from ear-to-ear the whole night.
“I told you they would pick on me,” Jeongguk whines as Hoseok does a dramatic (and completely inaccurate) retelling of the time Jeongguk head butted him trying to get his phone back. Jeongguk pouts when Taehyung laughs at him. “I hate you.”
“You love me.” Taehyung giggles, kissing Jeongguk’s nose. Jeongguk feels his heart melt as Taehyung’s eyes change from mischievous to fond as he looks at Jeongguk.
“Yeah,” Jeongguk whispers, and if they were somewhere more private, he would lean down and kiss Taehyung’s smiling mouth. “Yeah, I do.”
“God, you two are fucking disgusting. I’m jealous.”
The whole table laughs, but amongst all the laughter, even Seokjin’s windshield wiper giggles, the only laughter Jeongguk can hear is Taehyung’s.
