Chapter Text
Separatist takeover complete. Another Republic has fallen.
Onderon has seceded to the Confederacy of Independent Sytems under the rules of a new king.
However, a small band of revels have taken refuge deep within it's vast and savage wilderness.
From an abanded outpost, they plot to take back the heavily fortified capital city of Iziz and end the Separatist occupation.
In the Jedi Counsil room, mostly of the Members were present for the call for help of two of the Onderon's rebels, as well of the Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano, who remainded standing, close to the holoprojections in the center of the room.
"Unfortunaly, the only way to reclaim Onderon will be through armed struggles." The first young men said. "But we lack sufficient hardware and supplies."
Obi-Wan Kenobi raised an eyebrow. "Onderon is in your king's rule and at the oubreak of the Clone War, he chose to align it with the Separatists." Explaining indirectely that their aid would cause problems.
That implication was lost on the other person, who cut him off abruptly.
"Our true king has been silenced. The one you recognize is a traitor and a Separatist minion." Then, more softly, he turned to the pair. "We need your help to survive this."
Master Yoda, rubbing his chin, intervened "Find a way we shall.", putting an end to the transmission.
The smaller men bowed at the Counsil. "We await your answer." Before disappearing, he cast a final glance at Ahsoka, who gave him an encouraging look, though she did not truly feel that encouragement herself, given the Masters' mixed emotions in the Force.
When the two holos vanishes, Anakin started his arguments of their favors. "There are pockets of rebels on many of those planets that just need guidance, With training and ressources, they could attack soft targets while the Republic continues to engage them on the battlefield." He turned around to look at each master present, but the interruption came from his own side, from the one that he neglected.
"That sound like terrorism, Anakin." The stern answer of his Master cut him off.
Anakin turned around, annoyed. Maybe he should have take a short breath to stay calm but he didn't.
"Well, I think of it as an insurgency to help realign these planets with the Republic.."
He looked at the Masters. Couldn't they understand ?
"We can divide the Separatist forces and press them on two fronts !"
But Master Yoda and Windu cast a glances at each others. And the wise Jedi answered gravely to make his point.
"A means to an end, fear cannot be. Stop those who speard terror, the Jedi must."
Windu nodded, slightly irritated by Anakin, thought he tried to hide it. "Indeed. What you're suggesting would open up dangerous possibilities. And we must not train terrorists."
The young Jedi shrugged, not impressed.
"Eh, rebels." His Master restrained his eye roll, barely.
"How we conducte war is what distinguishes us from others, Anakin. Funding rebels to overthrow a legitimate govrenment would put innocents lives at risks."
But he also got an answer to that.
"We can minimize collateral damage by using arms that mainly affect droids."
The Jedis stayed silent once more, thinking. Ahsoka thought that would lead to an no, when Windu spokd again.
"The least we can do is help them defend themselves, test the tactic while we're at it."
A sparkle of victory rose in Anakin's eyes. Managing to not look too smugly, he approved.
"This could be a great new weapon for us."
Yoda shot him a way glance, but still continues.
"Hmm. Train and observe. Send advisors we will."
Alright, Anakin was straight up grinning at Ahsoka.
"I'll assemble a team." He made a move to leave the room when Obi-Wan stand up.
"I'm going with you."
Anakin teased. "What you don't trust me~ ?"
Obi-Wan responded easily. "Too much, That's what worries me."
At that, Master Shaak Ti raised her voice. "Advisors cannot do much, especially in war zones." Her tone grew hesitant for a second. "But I may have an idea to help them further..."
"Do tell, Master Ti.." invited Master Plo eagerly.
For a brief moment on her holo-image, she made a face.
"You're not going to like this.."
Windu mumbled into his non-existent beard. "I've got a bad feeling about this..."
