Summary
Carmen is drowning in grief, debt, and pure insomnia, trying to keep The Beef afloat. The last thing he expects during a 2:00 AM emergency room run with Richie is to meet Dr. Sydney Adamu.
Sydney, surgical resident with a sharp edge and a hyper-specific culinary vocabulary no doctor should reasonably have. When their paths keep crossing in the empty, freezing hours of Chicago nights, Carmen realizes two things terrifyingly fast: she speaks his exact language, and he has no idea how to stop thinking about her.
An AU where Sydney is a doctor, Carmen is completely smitten, and two hyper-fixated perfectionists realize they run on the exact same wavelength. Basically a retelling of The Bear with Sydney being a doctor.
