Chapter Text
Quinn’s POV: 🍁✂️
After four weeks of walking, trying to avoid our parents, the police, and monsters, we had finally made it to Camp Half-Blood. I turned toward my best friend. "Iris, do you even know how to walk? You're so slow!" I said teasingly as we took in the sights. It was breathtakingly beautiful. The sun was starting to set, casting a warm orange light over the camp.
"You gotta admit, she's beautiful, good old camp half-blood." our newest friend Daisy remarked.
Funny story about Daisy: we met two weeks ago. Iris and I were pinned in some dank alley somewhere near Queens. It was a dead end, and in front of us were these giant black dogs. (Iris had informed me later that they were, in fact, called hellhounds—"you uncultured swine.") We were pressed against a tall building, scrambling for a plan, when all of a sudden the clear notes of a flute sounded. The dogs—I mean hellhounds—started whining as thorned vines wrapped around their legs before melting into a shadow on the ground, leaving in their place Daisy, a 5'0" blonde, curly-haired satyr.
“I don't know how I couldn't admit that, camp is the most stunning place I've ever laid my eyes on.” Iris replied, smiling looking out towards the camp.
I turned towards her, sharing her smile that communicated everything: we would be okay, this would be our home, and we could finally stop hiding.
“You ready bae?” Iris asked with that stupid nickname that made my stomach do this little flop. I don't even remember when it all started but every smile, every nickname, accidental hand brush sends a rush of butterflies. “You bet I am!” I replied with a grin pushing these new feelings to the back of my brain before following Daisy and Iris.
We stopped in front of the “big house” as Daisy called it and the tallest man I had ever seen walked out–not a man, I think my brain is going to fry. It's one thing to read about mythology but it's a whole other thing seeing it in real life. He was a man from the chest up but his lower half was a stark white stallion.
Once I got over my initial shock I turned towards Iris and she seemed just as awestruck as me. He stopped in front of us and place his hands behind his back before greeting us with wide smile "Welcome you must be the new campers, You can call me Chiron.” he said with a nod “Hi I'm Quinn, and this-” I raised my arm pointing towards Iris. “-is Iris, it's a pleasure to meet you.” “The pleasure is all mine.” he replied earnestly “Welcome to Camp half-blood!”
